  • Patent number: 9377933
Abstract: A social networking system displays information about a user via a timeline included in a profile page. Narrative data about a user stored in a social networking system, including data about the user and social network activities related to the user is accessed. Timeline units summarizing information about the user are generated from the narrative data. When a viewing user requests a profile page, timeline units are displayed based information related to the viewing user and interactions with the profile page by other users connected to the viewing user. Users that administer the profile page are presented with additional information when viewing the profile page, allowing the administering users to modify appearance of the timeline or to identify actions for an administering user to take to increase interaction with the profile page.

  • Patent number: 9360940
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for presenting content. In one aspect, a method includes determining that user interaction with a search result has occurred, where the search result was presented in a results pane of a display. A browsing pane is generated in which a landing page for the search result is presented. The browsing pane is presented over a portion of the results pane. The portion of the results pane is bounded by an edge of the display and a pane edge of the browsing pane, where the pane edge is located at an initial display location. A user swipe is determined to have occurred, and in response to the user swipe the pane edge is relocated to a target display location.

  • Patent number: 9122376
Abstract: In one example a computing device receives a first indication of at least one user input to select one or more textual characters. The computing device determines a plurality of auto-complete word suggestions based at least in part on the one or more textual characters and outputs for display, based at least in part on the one or more textual characters, a first auto-complete word suggestion of the plurality of auto-complete word suggestions. In addition, the computing device receives a second indication of the at least one user input that indicates the first auto-complete word suggestion is incorrect. Responsive to receiving the second indication, the computing device outputs for display a second auto-complete word suggestion of the plurality of auto-complete word suggestions to replace the first auto-complete word suggestion. The first auto-complete word suggestion is more likely to be a correct word suggestion than the second-autocomplete word suggestion.
