Abstract: Method, systems, and techniques for determining the age of an underground space are provided. In some embodiments, determining the age of an underground space comprises taking soil samples from a plurality of surface locations within a second underground space, analyzing the soil samples from the plurality of surface locations to determine an amount of a chemical compound for each soil sample, and determining an age of the second underground space using one or more relationships based on amounts of the chemical compound measured in a plurality of soil samples taken over a period of time in a first underground space and a baseline amount of the chemical compound at one or more locations remote from both the first underground space and the second underground space.
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to the design and manufacture of nanofiber layers, webs, films, or membranes that may be self-supporting and can function as standalone products. More particularly, the present invention relates to a microporous nanofiber films and the use of such films in a wide variety of products and applications, including applications where physical property tuning is typically limited. Generally, the microporous films of the present invention can function as a standalone nanofiber membrane or can be bonded to other microporous films to produce a layered stacked film stack with customizable properties. Unlike conventional microporous films available in today's market, the microporous films of the present invention can be lighter, require less raw material cost to produce, and can improve operating performances in a variety of applications.
Abstract: Disclosed is an organic light emitting diode (OLED) includes a first emitting material layer, which includes a first compound and a second compound, and a second emitting material layer, which includes a third compound and a fourth compound, wherein a HOMO energy level of the first compound is higher than a HOMO energy level of the second compound and a HOMO energy level of the third compound is lower than a HOMO energy level of the fourth compound, and an organic light emitting device having the OLED. The OLED and the organic light emitting device disclosed have enhanced luminous efficiency, color purity and luminous life span as well as low driving voltage by applying the emitting material layer.

Abstract: Systems and methods for both technical and non-technical users to create content for interactive synthetic characters are provided. In some embodiments, a conversation editor may be configured to create a traversable script for an interactive synthetic character by receiving a set of conversation rules from a user. These rules can be used to match certain words or phrases that a user speaks or types, or to monitor for a physical movement of the user or synthetic character. Each conversation rule can include responses to be performed by the interactive synthetic character. The responses can include, for example, producing audible or textual speech for the synthetic character, performing one or more animations, playing one or more sound effects, retrieving data from one or more data sources, and the like. A traversable script can be generated from the set of conversation rules that when executed by the synthetic character allows for the dynamic interactions.

Abstract: A sample may be prepared and then analyzed using a liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry system to determine presence and concentration of herbicide(s) present in the sample. In some examples, the method involves providing a sample containing one or more herbicides and adding a base to the sample. The base may increase the pH of the sample to ?12, thereby hydrolyzing esters of the one or more herbicides. The method may further involve, subsequent to hydrolyzing the esters of the one or more herbicides, adding an acid to the sample so as to lower the pH of the sample to ?3. Once prepared, the sample can be injected into a liquid chromatography instrument to separate the herbicide molecules from other molecules present in the sample before being ionized and characterized by mass-to-charge ratio and relative abundance using one or more mass spectrometers.
