Abstract: An image reading apparatus includes: a contact glass setting a manuscript thereon; an image sensor extending in a first direction and having a reading surface which faces the contact glass for reading an image from the manuscript on the contact glass; a rail member extending inside the apparatus main body in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction; a carriage having a sensor container to contain the image sensor, a taper end portion formed in an end portion in the first direction to become smaller in height toward the end side, and an opening formed in the bottom of the sensor container on the taper end portion side; a biased portion adjacent to the reading surface of the image sensor in the second direction; and a biasing member biasing the image sensor toward the contact glass via the biased portion.
Abstract: Disclosed are systems, apparatuses, circuits and methods for extrapolating meaning from vocalized speech or otherwise obtained text. Speech of a speaking user is sampled and digitized, the digitized speech is converted into a text stream, the text stream derived from speech or otherwise obtained is analyzed syntactically and semantically, a knowledgebase in the specific context domain of the text stream is utilized to construct one or more semantic/syntactic domain specific query analysis constrains/rule-sets, and a “Domain Specific Knowledgebase Query” (DSKQ) or set of queries is built at least partially based on the domain specific query analysis constrains/rule-sets.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus A adds a user ID of a user, who has requested a job, to job information about the job to be processed in linkage to store it. The image forming apparatus A receives a user's linkage instruction together with the user ID of the user. When the received user ID matches the user ID added to the job information, the image forming apparatus A transmits a request message including the user ID and for establishing linkage with other image forming apparatuses B and C. The image forming apparatus B receives the request message, and receives a user's linkage instruction together with the user ID of the user. When the user ID included in the received request message and the user ID received from the user match each other, the image forming apparatus B transmits a reply message permitting linkage to the image forming apparatus A.
Abstract: A coding device includes: a pitch contour detection unit which detects a pitch contour of an input audio signal; a dynamic time warping unit which determines the number of pitch nodes based on the pitch contour and generates a first time warping parameter including information indicating the determined number of pitch nodes, a pitch change position, and a pitch change ratio; a first encoder which codes the first time warping parameter; a time warping unit which corrects pitch, using the information obtained from the first time warping parameter, to approximate the pitches of the number of pitch nodes to a predetermined reference value; a second encoder which codes the input audio signal at the corrected pitch; and a multiplexer which multiplexes the coded time warping parameter and the coded audio signal to generate a bitstream.

Abstract: In an image processing apparatus, a communication device is configured to communicate with a server. A memory stores computer executable instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the image processing apparatus to: acquire sign-in data from a storing device; automatically sign-in to the server based on the sign-in data; and execute at least one of a scanning process and a printing process. In the scanning process, the at least one processor acquires image data by controlling the image processing device to scan an image, and controls the communication device to transmit the image data to the server. In the printing process, the at least one processor receives print data from the server via the communication device, and controls the image processing device to print an image based on the print data.

Abstract: The present disclosure proposes a method and an apparatus to enhance reverberated speech by applying reverberation detection in conjunction with reverberation cancellation. The reverberation detection is based on Kurtosis of cross correlation of LPC residue and outputs the result of the reverberation detection to the reverberation cancelling system. The reverberation cancellation receives the result from the reverberation detection, and the cancellation is based on dual adaptive filtering in LP residue and time domain.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus detects a failure that has occurred, and determines whether or not the location at which the failure has been detected is in an accessory device attached to the body of an image processing apparatus. When the location at which the failure has been detected is in an accessory device, the image processing apparatus receives video data that shows a handling procedure for eliminating the failure that has occurred in the accessory device from a video distribution server and stores the data in a storage unit, and reproduces and displays the video data on a screen. Then, when the image processing apparatus detects that the above described failure has been eliminated, it erases the video data displayed on the above described screen from the storage unit.
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer program product are described herein for controlling a printing device. In an example embodiment, a print line is divided into frames and frame dot states are determined based on neighboring frame dot states. Maximum motor speeds of the printing device may be adjusted so that actual motor speeds change gradually during printing. The print engine may detect a printhead type by sending a signal to the printhead and receiving a response.

Abstract: Textures in a printed image are reduced with a configuration that, provided that a matrix made up of a plurality of dot arrangement patterns is treated as a unit, binarizes image data is repeatedly applying such a matrix to the image data. Specifically, when a shift value K=k, a shift process calculates X+kY for the position (X, Y) of each cell in a 4×4 base matrix. The dot arrangement patterns are then shifted overall such that the cell where the value is k from among these values moves to the position (0, 0). The shift process is conducted while setting different shift values for every repeated use of the base matrix. As a result, regular textures are decreased in the case of using a base matrix made up of a gradation value Lv1 on a pixel area.
