Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing a federated backup involving the coordination and synchronization of backup and restore operations among a plurality of hosts to ensure data consistency. A master node (backup host) acts as the initiator, coordinator, controller, and possibly as primary console for the entire backup and restore operation. All other worker application hosts and/or worker backup hosts operate as worker nodes and perform various backup and restore steps as directed by the master node. Centralized error handling aborts or recovers the entire backup operation in the event of failure on any one node. In addition, a logical view of the data is provided such that the backup can be managed as one entity, while backing up the data of each node. The backup workload may also be distributed to any other dedicated worker backup hosts (nodes) in order to minimize the impact to the production environment.

Abstract: Extensible reconfigurable media appliance for security and entertainment captures images digitally for storage. Digital effects and filters are applied to incoming video stream on-the-fly or to video data stored in memory. Digital effects and filters are dynamically stored, modified, updated or deleted, providing extensible reconfigurable effects studio. Digital media appliance communicates wirelessly with other media appliances, computers, security systems, video storage, email, chat, cellular services or PDAs to provide seamless integration of captured video stream.

Abstract: A computer readable storage medium includes executable instructions to extract data model object information and report data values from data model objects in at least one semantic abstraction to define indexed fields. A search query is received. The search query is applied against the indexed fields to define matching data model objects and matching report data values. A proposed abstract query with at least one matching data model object and a corresponding semantic abstraction is generated.

Abstract: The subject disclosure pertains to data parsing with patterns or regular expressions. A mechanism is provided for annotating a regular expression with additional information regarding data extraction such as output fields and mapping of the output fields to sub-sections of matched data. A parser can utilize the annotation information to facilitate mapping and transfer of at least a portion of pattern matched data from a source to a destination. The disclosed systems and methods thus enable data to be exacted while it is being matched.

Abstract: Systems and methods for data classification to facilitate and improve data management within an enterprise are described. The disclosed systems and methods evaluate and define data management operations based on data characteristics rather than data location, among other things. Also provided are methods for generating a data structure of metadata that describes system data and storage operations. This data structure may be consulted to determine changes in system data rather than scanning the data files themselves.

Abstract: A data storage infrastructure is disclosed for a communication network. The data storage infrastructure comprises data storage systems and a storage management system. The data storage systems are comprised of disk systems that are comprised of disks. The storage management system displays a first view of the infrastructure including the data storage systems, receives a first input selecting one of the data storage systems, and in response, displays a second view of the disk systems in the selected data storage system. The storage management system receives a second input selecting one of the disk systems in the selected data storage system, and in response, displays a third view of the disks in the selected disk system. The storage management system receives a third user input selecting one of the disks in the selected disk system, and in response, displays product information for the selected disk.

Abstract: A method and system for generating clusters of images for a search result of an image query is provided. When an original image query is received, the search system identifies text associated with the original image query by submitting the original image query to a search engine. The search system identifies phrases from the text of the web page containing the search result. The search system uses each of the identified phrases as an image query and submits the image queries to an image search engine. The search system considers the image search result for each image query to represent a cluster of related images. The search system then presents the clusters of images as the images of the image search result of the original image query.

Abstract: Methods are provided for identifying user-directory records that match input strings entered into a packet-based telephone. Each input string comprises symbols associated with character sets, and each record comprises multiple attributes. A record matches a set of input strings when, independent of the order of the input strings, there is a one-to-one correspondence matching the input strings with an equal number of attributes of the record. An input string matches an attribute when, on a character-by-character, symbol-by-symbol basis, the characters of at least a portion of the attribute are elements of the character sets associated with the symbols of the input string. Subsets of matching records are dynamically sent to the packet-based telephone for display.

Abstract: A method for dilating a sub-flow operator in a data flow is provided. The data flow is traversed to locate sub-flow operators. The data flow bound to a sub-flow operator is retrieved. The sub-flow operators are then injected into the data flow.

Abstract: A system and method for analyzing and reporting data from multiple sources is provided. The system is a foundation for an analytical platform that covers not only traditional relational data, but also a new generation of extensible data formats designed for the web, such as those based on XML (FIXML, FpML, ebXML, XBRL, ACORD, etc.), as well as HTML, E-mail, Excel, PDF, and others. In a preferred embodiment, the eXtensible on-line analytical processing (XOLAP), is a scalable client/server platform that allows the multi-dimensional analysis of modern data types, as well as traditional relational data, by bringing them all into an internal common XML-based model, without the time and expense of creating a data warehouse.

Abstract: In general, a genre classification can be determined for a document, the genre classification including multiple terms and corresponding scores indicating confidence levels for the terms with respect to the document. A relevant node in a document control policy ontology can be identified in accordance with the genre classification, and a confidence level for applicability of the relevant node can be assessed based at least in part upon at least one of the scores. A parent node of the relevant node in the document control policy ontology can be selected to stand in for the relevant node if the assessed confidence level for applicability of the relevant node falls below a threshold. At least one document control policy can be recommended to govern access to the document based on the identified or selected relevant node in the document control policy ontology.

Abstract: Provided are a techniques for determining a frequency distribution for a set of records. A count table of frequency distributions is built in memory for each field in the set of records, wherein each record of each count table includes a field identifier, a field value, and a count of a number of times the field value occurs in the set of records, and wherein the field identifier concatenated with the field value comprises a composite key value. It is determined that at least one count table of frequency distributions is approaching a maximum amount of memory allocated to that count table. The records of the at least one count table that is approaching the maximum amount of memory are sent for sorting and additional counting, wherein the records include composite key values.

Abstract: A system and method for automatically determining a plurality of pieces of different information about a textual document from the text of the textual document are provided in which one or more particular characteristics of the text of the textual document are identified to generate a file containing the text of the textual document with the particular characteristics marked up within the text.

Abstract: The present invention provides an extensible dependency management framework and method. Specifically, the present invention provides dependency management handler(s) and dispatcher(s) (e.g., revalidation and/or refactoring). The handlers are created and registered by users of the framework. When a change to a resource is detected, a notification is received by a dispatcher from an external caller. Upon receipt, the dispatcher will query an index to identify dependents, and then call a dependency management handler associated with the changed resource to obtain and implement updates for the dependents. In so doing, a list of the dependents will be provided to the dependency management handler.
