    Abstract: Adapters for use with an angiographic injector. A face plate adapter includes a channel for receiving a rearward end of a syringe. First and second mounting flanges on the adapter overlay a portion of the channel, to cooperate with mounting flanges on a rearward end of the syringe, so that the syringe mounting flanges may be inserted between the adapter mounting flanges, and then rotated in the channel behind the adapter mounting flanges, to thereby lock the syringe to the adapter. The adapter further includes one or more locking pins, which in a locked position extend across the channel, to block the syringe from rotating in the channel and thereby prevent a syringe from being dismounted from the adapter. A collar incorporated in the adapter interacts with a drive ram of the injector to move the locking pins into their locked position whenever the ram is forward of a rearwardmost position.

The subject catheter systems and methods find use in the treatment of a variety of different vascular diseases characterized by the presence of calcified vascular occlusions, including peripheral and coronary vascular diseases.

    Abstract: An improved medication infusion set is provided of the type having a soft cannula for subcutaneous delivery of a selected medication to a patient. The infusion set comprises a cannula housing having a soft cannula protruding therefrom and a self-sealing septum mounted at an upstream end of the cannula. The cannula housing is initially assembled with an insertion hub having an elongated insertion needle extending through the septum and cannula for transcutaneously placing the cannula followed by separation of the insertion hub from the cannula housing. An infusion hub is then assembled with the cannula housing and includes a short infusion needle for coupling the cannula with the selected medication supplied from a source via a length of infusion tubing.

In one aspect, with an occluder means, a primary lumen of the catheter is used both for catheter placement and delivery of fluid.     Abstract: A brain lead anchoring system is described which allows for installation of a brain stimulation lead or a drug delivery catheter without the lead or catheter ever being unsupported during installation so that the lead or catheter does not move during the anchoring procedure. An anchor assembly contains an anchoring mechanism that is biased in the closed or anchoring position and is only open to allow installation of a lead when it is mated to an introducer instrument, which has prongs that open the anchoring mechanism. Once the lead is appropriately positioned within the brain and while the lead is still supported by the installation guiding device, the introducer instrument is withdrawn from the anchoring mechanism, which thus allows the anchoring mechanism to return to its closed position. A locking cap covers the aperture through the anchor assembly into the skull and mechanically ensures that the anchoring mechanism remains in the closed position.
