  • Patent number: 7801886
Abstract: A system that performs a database operation which involves accessing user-defined fields which are stored in a custom field table, wherein the user-defined fields are used to augment an existing table. During operation, the system performs the database operation which involves accessing the user defined fields. While accessing the user-defined fields, the system performs a mapping between the user-defined fields and custom fields in the custom field table, wherein each row in the custom field table includes a position field and multiple custom fields.

  • Patent number: 7792830
Abstract: A method and system for analyzing a document set (202, 420) are provided. The method includes determining a set of terms (312) from the terms of the document set that minimizes a distance measurement (405) from the given set of documents (420). The method includes using a greedy algorithm to build the set of terms incrementally, at each stage finding a single word that is closest to the document set (202, 420). The set of terms is evaluated to assess the ability to find the document set (202, 420). The set of terms are compared with expected terms to evaluate the ability to find the document set (202, 420). A measure of the ability to find a document set (202, 420) is provided by computing a distance measure (403) between a document set and an entire collection.

  • Patent number: 7783652
Abstract: A content management system determines which user submitted content is to be included in a default experience of a mixed content website. Users submitting content are assigned trust levels based on their history of content submittal and other users' experience with the submitted content. Once a user reaches a predetermined trust level, their content may be included in the default experience without further vetting. An additional complaint review mechanism may be included for filtering unacceptable content and adjusting a submitting user's trust level.

  • Patent number: 7778985
Abstract: A database management system managing one or more databases to suspend access to at least one selected database by one or more processes or applications (e.g., message processing programs, batch messaging programs, etc.). In some instances, the one or more databases may include one or more IMS databases. Access to the at least one selected database may be suspended to enable one or more operations to be performed on the at least one selected database by the database management system and/or an outside entity (e.g., a user, an external application, etc.). For example, the one or more operations may include an imaging operation, a loading operation, an unloading operation, a start operation, a stop operation, and/or other operations. In some instances, access to the at least one selected database may be suspended without canceling transactions being executed by the one or more processes or applications on the selected at least one database.

  • Patent number: 7765218
Abstract: A method, apparatus, system, and signal-bearing medium that, in an embodiment, determine a term score based on frame scores, frame weights, and effect bonuses. The frame score represents a probability that the frame will be displayed, and in an embodiment is based on whether the frame may be skipped via an embedded link between frames. Frames that may be skipped have their frame scores reduced. The frame weights are based on an attribute of the term, such as a font size, a font style, a color, or a location within a frame. The effect bonus is based on one or more attributes of the nearest tweened object to the term, such as a location, a size, a shape, or a color. The term score may be used to order the display of the pages that contain the frames in response to a search request. In this way, terms within the frames of an animated graphics file are scored based on the likelihood that the term will be seen during the animation.

  • Patent number: 7720830
Abstract: A method and system for labeling object information of an information page is provided. A labeling system identifies an object record of an information page based on the labeling of object elements within an object record and labels object elements based on the identification of an object record that contains the object elements. To identify the records and label the elements, the labeling system generates a hierarchical representation of blocks of an information page. The labeling system identifies records and elements within the records by propagating probability-related information of record labels and element labels through the hierarchy of the blocks. The labeling system generates a feature vector for each block to represent the block and calculates a probability of a label for a block being correct based on a score derived from the feature vectors associated with related blocks. The labeling system searches for the labeling of records and elements that has the highest probability of being correct.

  • Patent number: 7526516
Abstract: A system, method and computer program product for monitoring file integrity that includes intercepting a function call by a user application to change a timestamp of a file; updating a record of a number of times the timestamp has been changed, wherein the record is maintained in operating system space; in response to a monitoring application requesting the record, providing, to the monitoring application, the record for comparison with information maintained by the monitoring application; and changing behavior of a user application if the record does not correspond to the information maintained by the monitoring application. This can be performed for multiple files, and each file can have a corresponding record. The records can be maintained in a database in operating system space. The monitoring application can maintain a database of a number of times the timestamps of the files have been modified. The record is, e.g., a counter.

  • Patent number: 7512643
Abstract: For a computer system that includes a storage system and a management computer, the storage system includes a first storage area, for storing data used by a computer connected to the storage system, and a second storage area, for storing a duplicate of the data included in the first storage area. The management computer includes first management information, for managing the frequency at which the data in the first storage area are copied. When the management computer receives a notification indicating the first storage area has been unmounted from another computer, the management computer employs the first management information for determining whether the data in the first storage area should be copied. Then, when the data should be copied, the first storage area is mounted on the computer and the data in the first storage area are copied to the second storage area.
