Patent number: 4943260Abstract: A mobile collector or harvester for weed seeds that are normally discharged onto the ground during a combining operation, is connected to trail a conventional grain combine, and collects the straw and the tailings discharged from the separating sieve that normally discharges small chaff and seeds onto the ground. The harvester frame has a conveyor for conveying straw and chaff onto a separate shaker screening member, which is of size to let the small weed seeds drop onto a grain pan and then into a hopper, while the straw is retained on the top of the screen and discharged onto the ground. A separate auger conveyor is used for elevating the weed seeds from the hopper into a storage tank, which is then periodically emptied through the use of another auger conveyor. The entire unit is self-contained including an internal combustion engine power unit, that drives a hydraulic pump for operating hydraulic motors through suitable valves.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1988Date of Patent: July 24, 1990Inventor: Arthur J. Patent number: 4937906Abstract: A dockleveler employs a lip counterbalance mechanism to increase the force of the lip counterbalance spring as the deck is raised. A linkage is coupled at one end to the dockboard lip and at the other end to a level assembly. The lever in turn is adjustably coupled to the lip spring. As the dockboard is raised, a chain coupled to the frame and the linkage exerts a force causing initial raising of the lip while pivoting the linkage downward. This in turn causes the lever to rotate such that the force on the lever pushes the linkage further raising the lip.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1989Date of Patent: July 3, 1990Assignee: Serco CorporationInventor: James C. Alexander

Patent number: 4938285Abstract: An ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene sucker rod guide for mounting on a sucker rod in multiple, spaced units and preventing, or at least minimizing, contact between the sucker rod and the tubing which encloses the sucker rod. In a preferred embodiment the sucker rod guide is characterized by an extruded polyethylene plastic having an ultra-high molecular weight and ultra-high density which exhibits a wet coefficient of friction that is lower than that of metal, to increase the overall pumping efficiency of oil wells. In a most preferred embodiment of the invention, the sucker rod guide is constructed of a self-lubricating, ultra-high molecular weight, ultra-high density, extruded polyethylene bar stock. The sucker rod guide includes a longitudinal, grooved bore which is preferably undersized with respect to the sucker rod upon which the sucker rod guide is mounted and a tapered body slot which communicates with the bore for inserting the sucker rod guide on a sucker rod at a desired location.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 1989Date of Patent: July 3, 1990Inventors: Billy J. Patent number: 4938010Abstract: A harvester having hydraulically shiftable draper sections for left, right or center crop discharge has a pair of movement limiting tangs which are carried by the draper sections at either of one of two selected locations in order to enable the lateral dimension or width of the discharge opening to be varied in accordance with crop conditions. When the standing crop is relatively dense, the tangs are positioned in an inboard location on the draper carriages so that the width of the discharge opening is maximized. Alternately, the tangs can be positioned in outward locations on the carriages for limiting lateral movement of the latter and reducing the width of the discharge opening so that the crop materials under relatively light crop conditions are formed into a dense, interlaced windrow having a central snow and ice shedding ridge.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 1988Date of Patent: July 3, 1990Assignee: Hay & Forage IndustriesInventors: Ronald K. Patent number: 4936082Abstract: A combined mechanical air reel for harvesting equipment has a control support-manifold tube and a plurality of depending tubes mounted on the support-manifold tubes that direct a curtain of air against grain to be cut to move the grain toward a cutter bar on which the reel is mounted. At the same time a rotatable finger carrying bat type mechanical reel, also mounted on the central support-manifold tube, is used to feed material to the cutter bar. The mechanical reel bats rotate around the outside of the support-manifold tube. The bats extend parallel to the cutter bar, and the postion of fingers on the bats is controlled by a cam action that permits the bats and the fingers to enter and exit the grain substantially vertically to reduce shattering of the grain. A positive cam drive is provided for actuating the fingers.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 1988Date of Patent: June 26, 1990Assignee: Crary CompanyInventor: David S. Majkrzak

Patent number: 4936485Abstract: A manual marker dispenser for road markers which is supported from a wheel mounted adhesive applicator which deposits small amounts of adhesive at selected spaced positions along a roadway. The dispenser has an upright cage member in which the markers are placed which typically has measurements of four inches by four inches by about three feet. The cage is open at the top and bottom and at the bottom there are two release cams spaced on opposite sides of the dispenser. The cams are essentially cylindrical in shape with about a quarter of the cylinder removed in a V-shaped pattern. Handle and linkage are provided to rotate the cams from a first position where the markers rest on the cam to a second position where the cut-away portion lets the markers drop out of the cage.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 1989Date of Patent: June 26, 1990Inventor: Donald M. Patent number: 4934460Abstract: An apparatus for effecting chemical treatment of a subterranean well bore comprises vertically spaced, inflatable packing elements which are run into the well on a fluid conduit, such as continuous coiled tubing, or the like. The apparatus permits circulation while being run into the well and, when positioned, effects the expansion of the two inflatable elements by pressured fluid introduced through the supporting fluid conduit. The applied pressure is trapped within the inflatable elements by axial movement of an inner body relative to an outer body, which effects the opening of fluid communication between the central fluid conduit and the well bore portion between the inflated packing elements, permitting testing of the sealing effectiveness of the packing elements, and the application of a treatment fluid. The same movement, accompanied by an increase in fluid pressure effects the opening of a fluid path to the well bore above the uppermost packing element.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 1989Date of Patent: June 19, 1990Assignee: Baker Hughes IncorporatedInventor: Martin P. Coronado
