  • Patent number: 6332656
Abstract: A system for the storage and retrieval of discs (e.g., CDs, DVDs) and the like. An outer housing contains a tiltable inner housing having grooves on upper and lower walls for holding discs by their edges in a vertical orientation. A portal element, formed with a vertical slot for loading and retrieving discs, is movable across the front of the outer housing into alignment with individual disc positions of the inner housing. Flexible shutters are attached to the portal element, maintaining the entire front of the outer housing closed, except for the portal opening. The inner housing has a stable position, tilted slightly to the rear, causing the discs to roll to storage position at the back. A selected disc can be retrieved by tilting the inner housing forwardly, causing the discs to roll forwardly. All discs except the selected disc, aligned with the portal slot, are held back by the flexible shutter, while the selected disc is allowed to roll through the portal slot to an exposed retrieval position.

  • Patent number: 6327982
Abstract: This invention is an adaptable computer stand designed to support a laptop computer or keyboard over a user's lap while sitting in a chair or bed. The stand includes a wide, low profile base designed to fit under a living room chair commonly found in a home. Attached perpendicularly to the base is a vertically aligned, fixed pole. Attached to the upper end of the fixed pole is an adjustable, L-shaped extension pole designed to be selectively raised or lowered on the fixed pole, rotate, and then lock in a desired position. Attached to the upper end of the extension pole is a length-adjustable, rotating extension arm. The stand also includes a planar support member used to support a keyboard or laptop computer. Attached to the bottom surface of the support member is a locking universal joint, which, during assembly, is connected to the distal end of the extension arm. • Patent number: 6324790
Abstract: A deployable seating arrangement employs a plurality of seating level members that are arranged in sequentially elevated relation to one another. When the deployable seating arrangement is in an undeployed state, the seating level members are disposed substantially directly beneath one another in stacked relation. When in a deployed condition, each seating level member is disposed beneath and forward of an immediately superior seating level member in stepped relation. Each of the seating level members has associated therewith a plurality of L-shaped frame elements that are formed of vertical and horizontal portions. A roller is installed at the upper end of the vertical portion for engaging with the underside of the horizontal portion of an immediately superior seating level member. A drive arrangement having a wide track motor drive urges the seating level members, which are installed on a plurality of respective wheeled frame arrangements, into deployed and undeployed states.

  • Patent number: 6321663
Abstract: An adjustable inclined shelving system includes a rigid tubular horizontal base supporting an adjustable, articulated frame removably connected to the frame without the need for tools. The articulated frame includes front and rear legs. The front legs proximal to a customer are shorter than the rear legs distal from the customer. The articulated frame further includes a shelf support frame extending at an angle of incline between and removably attached to the front and rear legs for supporting a plurality of shelves. The legs are pivoted on the horizontal frame to change the system from a collapsed configuration, as for shipping or storage, to an erect configuration for display, and return. The system is afforded structural rigidity by removable diagonal braces extending between the legs and the horizontal frame. The front legs are pivoted from vertical to horizontal by unpinning of the braces to lower the shelving from an upright configuration to a kneeling configuration.

  • Patent number: 6322177
Abstract: The drop-bin unit has at least several bins arranged to pivot outwardly about a generally horizontal axis, from a closed position where outer faces of the bins are generally aligned vertically with each other, to an open position where the outer surfaces angle outwardly from their closed positions. The bins are stacked one above another within a housing, and are connected together, for example via at least one gang bar, such that pivoting one bin outwardly causes all of the bins to pivot outwardly in unison. The units may be sold separately, for use as stand-alone containers, or may be sold to be placed in a holder which holds one or preferably a number of the units. The holder can be sold with one or more of the units, or may be sold as a completely separate item. The holder can take a variety of forms. The units on their own or in holders provide flexibility for carrying job-specific items, avoiding the need to carry an entire toolbox to a particular job.
