  • Patent number: 8725280
Abstract: Provided is an audio output device capable of preventing noises and improving the S/N ratio even if no audio signal is inputted in the middle of the input of audio signals, or even if an audio-signal input state and a no-signal state are alternately repeated. In the provided audio output device, a multiplier is provided on the input side of each of the delayers. Each multiplier multiplies the addition output of the corresponding one of adders by a multiplier coefficient supplied by the coefficient counter. If there is no input of digital audio signals into a ?? modulator, the counter control circuit decreases the output of the coefficient counter down to 0 stepwise at predetermined intervals.

  • Patent number: 8718804
Abstract: In an embodiment, a method of receiving a digital audio signal, using a processor, includes correcting the digital audio signal from lost data. Correcting includes copying frequency domain coefficients of the digital audio signal from a previous frame, adaptively adding random noise coefficients to the copied frequency domain coefficients, and scaling the random noise coefficients and the copied frequency domain coefficients to form recovered frequency domain coefficients. Scaling is controlled with a parameter representing a periodicity or harmonicity of the digital audio signal. A corrected audio signal is produced from the recovered frequency domain coefficients.

  • Patent number: 8718306
Abstract: In a hearing device or hearing aid, provision can be made for a sound tube or an in-the-ear loudspeaker to be held in an auditory canal of a user by an earpiece. To couple a sound tube to an earpiece, a connection element can be provided on the sound tube, which connection element can be connected to a connection element for the earpiece. This connection must be detachable so that a user can remove the earpiece from the sound tube. Nevertheless, it must be possible to transmit such a large force over the connection that the earpiece can once again be pulled out of the auditory canal. The object is to simplify a detachable connection for coupling an earpiece to a sound tube or an in-the-ear loudspeaker. Accordingly, the connection element for the earpiece is provided as an independent component, which is attached in or on the earpiece.

  • Patent number: 8718806
Abstract: An apparatus includes a first unit and a second functional units operating in a master-slave configuration. The first and second functional units operate as a master and slave, respectively. The first functional unit conveys clock and framing signals to the second functional unit. The second functional unit includes a buffer and a multiplexer having inputs coupled to the buffer. Digital audio data may be prefetched into the buffer. When a controller of the second functional unit detects assertion of the framing signal, it may cause a change of state to a selection signal provided to the multiplexer. Responsive thereto, the multiplexer selects an input coupled to receive, from the buffer, a next frame of data to be transmitted. A first bit of the frame is transmitted to the first functional unit on the same clock cycle in which assertion of the framing signal was detected.

  • Patent number: 8712563
Abstract: A system, method, and machine-readable medium are disclosed for the controlled, non-real-time conveyance of digital content for playback. Digital content and associated metadata are marked, rated, categorized, and then converted into encoded digital data. The resulting encoded digital data is transmitted as a plurality of data streams through a communications facility such as a satellite, wireless, or physical network. The data streams are received by a content receiver where they are decoded into metadata and digital content for controlled conveyance and playback. A digital content management module comprising a content selection algorithm compares metadata associated with candidate digital content to a predetermined content selection profile. If the metadata matches predetermined selection parameters of the selection profile, the candidate digital content and its associated metadata are stored in a machine-readable medium for controlled conveyance and playback.

  • Patent number: 8706277
Abstract: System and method for encoding, transmitting and decoding audio data. Audio bit steam syntax is re-organized to allow system optimizations that work well with memory latency and memory burst operations. Multiple small entropy coding tables are stored in RAM and loaded to on-chip memory as needed. Audio prediction is pipelined in the bitstream syntax. Intra frames, independent of other frames in the bitstream, are included in the bitstream for error recovery and channel change. New algorithms are implemented in legacy syntax by including the new information in the user data space of the audio frame. The new decoder can use projection to determine where the new information is and read ahead in the stream. Audio prediction from the immediately previous frame is restricted. Audio prediction is performed across channels within a single audio frame. A variable re-order function comprises storing channels of data to DRAM in the order they are decoded and reading them out in presentation order.

  • Patent number: 8682462
Abstract: Systems and methods presented herein may provide for processing audio with increased loudness and dynamics. A first clock frequency associated with a digital audio file may be increased to a second clock frequency, which speeds up the playback of the audio. The digital audio file may then be converted to analog at the higher second frequency, where it is further modified in the analog domain. The analog audio is then converted back into digital audio at the second clock frequency. The clock frequency is then decreased back to the first clock frequency for playback or storage of the processed (i.e., modified or manipulated) digital audio file. Alternatively, the entire process can take place in the digital domain.

  • Patent number: 8676364
Abstract: For synchronizing multichannel extension data with an audio signal, wherein the audio signal includes block division information and the multichannel extension data include reference audio signal fingerprint information, the block division information in the audio signal is detected by means of a block detector. Thereupon, block division of the audio signal is performed by a fingerprint calculator according to the block division information in order to obtain a sequence of test audio signal fingerprints. In addition to that, a sequence of reference audio signal fingerprints is extracted from the reference audio signal fingerprint information of the multichannel extension data. Both sequences of fingerprints are correlated in order to obtain a correlation result, by which a compensator is controlled in order to reduce or eliminate a time offset between the multichannel extension data and the audio signal.

  • Patent number: 8676363
Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes a communication unit, an incoming data determining unit, and an audio processing command generator. The communication unit communicates with an external apparatus that splits outgoing audio data and sequentially sends transmission audio signals, each signal having a header and transmission audio data containing some of the split audio data with an appended first counter. The incoming data determining unit determines the existence of continuity-related errors in a received transmission audio signal, on the basis of the first counter, as well as a second counter contained in the header. The audio processing command generator selectively generates an audio processing command on the basis of the determination results in the incoming data determining unit, wherein the audio processing command stipulates audio data playback processing to be conducted in the event of an error.
