Abstract: A method and computer system for analyzing sentences of various languages and constructing a language-independent semantic structure are provided. On the basis of comprehensive knowledge about languages and semantics, exhaustive linguistic descriptions are created, and lexical, morphological, syntactic, and semantic analyses for one or more sentences of a natural or artificial language are performed. A computer system is also provided to implement, analyze and store various linguistic structures and to perform lexical, morphological, syntactic, and semantic analyses. As result, a generalized data structure, such as a semantic structure, is generated and used to describe the meaning of one or more sentences in language-independent form, applicable to automated abstracting, machine translation, control systems, Internet information retrieval, etc.

  • Patent number: 9465790
Abstract: Textual data is organized into statement clusters. Sentences are extracted from textual data and parsed. A verb usage pattern is identified and an SVO triplet is determined. The SVO triplet is compared to a taxonomy associated with the domain of the data and a sentiment is derived. A statement cluster is constructed comprising a higher level SVO triplet sensitive to the taxonomy and verb usage pattern, as well as the derived sentiment. Accordingly, the statement clusters may be organized by grouping.

  • Patent number: 9466301
Abstract: A method and system has been developed and demonstrated which provides real-time frequency translation, frequency compression, and user selectable response time for non-deterministic signals. This method and system provides for the real-time separation and isolation of theoretically an infinite amount of frequencies present in an incoming non-deterministic signal. The bandwidth of the filter for the separated frequencies is user selectable and provides varying rise times for the individual frequencies. The linear frequency shifting property of the algorithm creates bandwidth compression opportunities while signals are present in a channel for transmission.

  • Patent number: 9436678
Abstract: Features are disclosed for processing a user utterance with respect to multiple subject matters or domains, and for selecting a likely result from a particular domain with which to respond to the utterance or otherwise take action. A user utterance may be transcribed by an automatic speech recognition (“ASR”) module, and the results may be provided to a multi-domain natural language understanding (“NLU”) engine. The multi-domain NLU engine may process the transcription(s) in multiple individual domains rather than in a single domain. In some cases, the transcription(s) may be processed in multiple individual domains in parallel or substantially simultaneously. In addition, hints may be generated based on previous user interactions and other data. The ASR module, multi-domain NLU engine, and other components of a spoken language processing system may use the hints to more efficiently process input or more accurately generate output.

  • Patent number: 9437187
Abstract: A search string acquiring unit acquires a search string. A converting unit converts the search string into a phoneme sequence. A time length deriving unit derives the spoken time length of the voice corresponding to the search string. A zone designating unit designates a likelihood acquisition zone in a target voice signal. A likelihood acquiring device acquires a likelihood indicating how likely the likelihood acquisition interval is an interval in which voice corresponding to the search string is spoken. A repeating unit changes the likelihood acquisition zone designated by the zone designating unit, and repeats the process of the zone designating unit and the likelihood acquiring device. An identifying unit identifies, from the target voice signal, estimated intervals for which the voice corresponding to the search string is estimated to be spoken, on the basis of the likelihoods acquired for each of the likelihood acquisition zones.

  • Patent number: 9431007
Abstract: In a voice search device, a processor acquires a search word, converts the search word into a phoneme sequence, acquires, for each frame, an output probability of a feature quantity of a target voice signal being output from each phoneme included in the phoneme sequence, and executes relative calculation of the output probability acquired from each phoneme, based on an output probability acquired from another phoneme included in the phoneme sequence. In addition, the processor successively designates likelihood acquisition zones, acquires a likelihood indicating how likely a designated likelihood acquisition zone is a zone in which voice corresponding to the search word is spoken, and identifies from the target voice signal an estimated zone for which the voice corresponding to the search word is estimated to be spoken, based on the acquired likelihood.

  • Patent number: 9431015
Abstract: An electronic device for managing voice entered text using gesturing comprises a housing, display, power source, speech recognition module, gesture recognition module, and processor. A first speech input is detected, and textual words are displayed. One or more swipe gestures are detected, and a direction of the swipe gesture(s) is determined. Each textual word is highlighted one-by-one along a path of the direction of the swipe gesture(s) highlighting for each swipe gesture. For one embodiment, a second speech input may be detected and a highlighted textual word may be substituted with a second textual word. For another embodiment, a type of the swipe gesture(s) may be determined. A textual word adjacent to a currently highlighted word may be highlighted next for the first type, and a textual word non-adjacent to the currently highlighted word may be highlighted next for the second type.

  • Patent number: 9424836
Abstract: Techniques disclosed herein include systems and methods for privacy-sensitive training data collection for updating acoustic models of speech recognition systems. In one embodiment, the system locally creates adaptation data from raw audio data. Such adaptation can include derived statistics and/or acoustic model update parameters. The derived statistics and/or updated acoustic model data can then be sent to a speech recognition server or third-party entity. Since the audio data and transcriptions are already processed, the statistics or acoustic model data is devoid of any information that could be human-readable or machine readable such as to enable reconstruction of audio data. Thus, such converted data sent to a server does not include personal or confidential information. Third-party servers can then continually update speech models without storing personal and confidential utterances of users.

  • Patent number: 9413388
Abstract: A plurality of bits is retrieved from a bitstream that comprises encoded media content. The plurality of bits may include at least a portion of a codeword. An integer value of the plurality of bits is used to determine an index into a first table. Based on the index, an extra bits field is retrieved from the first table. If the extra bits field includes a predetermined value, then a first plurality of values is retrieved from the first table. If the extra bits field does not include the predetermined value, then a second plurality of values is retrieved from a second table.

  • Patent number: 9396168
Abstract: A system and method for automatically generating a narrative story receives data and information pertaining to a domain event. The received data and information and/or one or more derived features are then used to identify a plurality of angles for the narrative story. The plurality of angles is then filtered, for example through use of parameters that specify a focus for the narrative story, length of the narrative story, etc. Points associated with the filtered plurality of angles are then assembled and the narrative story is rendered using the filtered plurality of angles and the assembled points.

  • Patent number: 9396178
Abstract: A system and method for automated dictionary population is provided to facilitate the entry of textual material in dictionaries for enhancing word prediction. The automated dictionary population system is useful in association with a mobile device including at least one dictionary which includes entries. The device receives a communication which is parsed and textual data extracted. The text is compared to the entries of the dictionaries to identify new words. Statistical information for the parsed words, including word usage frequency, recency, or likelihood of use, is generated. Profanities may be processed by identifying profanities, modifying the profanities, and asking the user to provide feedback. Phrases are identified by phrase markers. Lastly, the new words are stored in a supplementary word list as single words or by linking the words of the identified phrases to preserve any phrase relationships. Likewise, the statistical information may be stored.
