Abstract: An information processing apparatus is provided which includes a storage unit to store reference parameter information made up of a plurality of pieces of parameter information and associated with each program, an acquisition unit to acquire the plurality of pieces of parameter information of current time, a specifying unit to specify a program associated with a reference parameter similar to the plurality of pieces of parameter information of current time, and a display control unit to create a startup menu screen containing a startup display of a program according to a specified result by the specifying unit.

Abstract: A particular user's user-interface to a virtual world is customized based at least upon an analysis of behavioral characteristics of the user, the behavioral characteristics indicating how the user controls an avatar in the virtual world. In this regard, image-capture-or-sharing tools, avatar-appearance-editing tools, or both may be configured in the user-interface based at least upon the analysis of the behavioral characteristics. Information pertaining to results of the configuring of the user-interface may be stored in a processor-accessible memory system.

Abstract: A system is described for displaying a plurality of associated items in a collaborative environment. The system may include a memory, an interface, and a processor. The memory may store items, each item associated with another item. The processor may provide the graphical representation of the items to a user where each item is represented by a shape. The processor may receive a request to associate a first metric of the items with a size of each shape and a request to associate a second metric of the items with a color of each shape. The processor may transform the graphical representation such that the size of each shape is based on the value of the first metric of each item, and the color of each shape is based on the value of the second metric of each item. The processor may provide the transformed graphical representation to the user.

Abstract: A system and method for generating a user interface for text and item selection is disclosed. As described for various embodiments, a system and process is disclosed for providing an arrangement of selectable items, a mechanism for selection from the arrangement of selectable items, and a mechanism for adjusting the granularity of control of the selector. In one embodiment, the granularity control can be a zooming mechanism to modify the size and/or position of items in a selection set. In another embodiment, the granularity control can be a modification of the motion vector based on a distance from a reference point and the speed or quantity of deflection of a pointing device. Thus, as a selection point approaches the selection set, the motion of the selection point becomes less responsive to movement of the pointing device, so the user has more control over the positioning of the selection point relative to an item in the selection set.

Abstract: A method (600) for recovering a set of display screen windows (402, 404, 406, 408) in a multi-window display screen (304). The method involves retaining window information as stored window information (SWI). The SWI includes a first arrangement for a first set of display screen windows (DSWs) displayed on the multi-window display screen at a first time. Each of the DSWs has respective content (420, 422, 424, 426). The method also involves using the SWI for redisplaying the first set of display screen windows in the first arrangement on the multi-window display at a second time. The second time is after the first time and follows an event causing the first set of display screen windows to be removed from the multi-window display screen. The redisplayed DSWs contain at least a portion of the respective content.

Abstract: A topology view of a network is generated on a visual display of a computer system. The topology view includes subnet objects, network device objects, and interface objects within the network device objects. Network flow records are acquired from each device within the network. Separate network flow records acquired from different devices in the network are correlated together into a common network flow record. Each of the separate network flow records shares a common source address and a common destination address. The common network flow record specifies transmission path segments of a communication through the network. The common network flow is rendered in the visual display over the topology view of the network by displaying an arrow for each transmission path segment traversed by the communication through the network.

Abstract: The claimed subject matter provides for systems, devices, and methods facilitating dynamic scaling of messaging content. Messaging content can include visual content other than the actual textual content of a message body for a messaging environment. In an aspect dynamic scaling of messaging content can allow message content such as pictures, images, emoticons, movies, maps, and the like to be presented to a user in a manner that facilities efficient comprehension of the message content. The tokens can be dynamically scaled as the messaging environment changes to maintain high levels of comprehension.

Abstract: Techniques for automatically approving transactions are described herein. These techniques may include determining whether a user who requested to conduct a transaction is the same user as a user that approves the transaction. If so, then the transaction may be approved. If not, then the approving user may be asked to provide authentication information in order to finish the approval process.

The scrollable window can display first display content (e.g., a first segment of formatted data) stored in a first display buffer. The mobile device can determine that the scrollable window will cross a boundary of the first display buffer. Upon the determining, the mobile device can create second display content (e.g., a second segment of formatted data) in a second display buffer. The second display content can include display content that borders the first display content at the boundary. The mobile device can provide for display the second display content when the scrollable window crosses the boundary.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed herein for a media center portal. One implementation includes displaying first content in an expanded state and second content in a contracted state. At least a portion of the first content is presented in a viewport. A request is received to expand the second content. The first content is contracted for display in the contracted state. The second content is expanded for display in the expanded state. The contracted first content is displayed while displaying the expanded second content. At least a portion of the second content is presented in a text reader when in the expanded state.

Abstract: In a large-scale plant such as a power plant, a graphical user interface device displays a target data display screen without increasing a load of searching a screen or a load of grasping a screen transition link. An operation model-creating device reads operation manual data for operation estimation and operation history data from an operation manual managing device and an operation history managing device to create a number of pieces of manual procedure template data for each accident type. An operation predicting device selects the operation procedure template data having same conditions of immediately preceding operation history data obtained from the plant monitoring and control device to predict the next operation estimated to be performed by an operator from the selected operation procedure template data. The plant monitoring and control device displays a system recommended operation button on a monitoring screen thereof based on data of the predicted results.

Abstract: A selection candidate display method, a selection candidate display device, and an input/output device are provided. When a number of receivable broadcasting stations is not “4” or less, a controller allocates the receivable broadcasting stations to three segmented logical areas among four segmented logical areas, allocates a scroll area to the remaining one logical area, and displays the channel numbers of the allocated receivable broadcasting stations and information indicating the scroll area, for example, “S” in the respective logical areas of a circle pad.
