  • Patent number: 7461771
Abstract: A method of treating a via connected with a substrate and a method of probing the via are disclosed. A pattern of a lead-free solder paste is applied around a hole of the via without completely covering a pad of the via. The paste is reflowed to form a pattern of a lead-free solder on a pad that covers only a portion of a surface area of the pad and is positioned around the hole. The solder may be substantially symmetrically positioned around the hole. A flux generated during reflow is insufficient to plug the hole. The lead-free solder can be probed by a blade probe including colinear first and second edges and having a preferred orientation relative to the pattern of the lead-free solder.

  • Patent number: 7427726
Abstract: A portable wire feeder for providing welding wire and welding current to a welding operation includes an input electrically connected to a power source. An output is electrically connected to the input to receive welding current delivered to the input from the power source and to provide the welding current and welding wire to the welding operation through a guide hose. A motorized wire feeding system includes a motor and a feed roll driven by the motor to direct the wire from a wire supply to the output for provision of the welding wire to the welding operation through the guide hose. Power for the motorized wire feeding system is drawn from the welding current passed from the input to the output. A grounding assembly nonattachably contacts a work piece of the welding operation to electrically ground the power drawn from the welding current directly to the work piece.

  • Patent number: 7407559
Abstract: A method of producing a liquid crystal display device. A first substrate having a liquid crystal dripped thereon, and a second substrate, are arranged in a vacuum chamber. The first substrate is held by a first electrostatic chuck and the second substrate is held by a second electrostatic chuck. The second substrate is urged onto the first substrate to bond the first substrate and the second substrate together. The bonded first and second substrates are then peeled off from the electrostatic chucks. A resin sheet is arranged on the second electrostatic chuck, so that the bonded first and second substrates do not cling to the second electrostatic chuck when peeled off.

  • Patent number: 7311795
Abstract: A first substrate (11a) is positioned on a support surface (7) in a vacuum chamber with an upward-facing first bonding surface (12a) spin-coated with adhesive while a second substrate (11b) is held with downward-facing second bonding surface (12b) to a cover (3) by suction. While the vacuum chamber is being evacuated to a pressure of between 0.1 mbar and 2 mbar, a support pin (9) is extended through central openings (14a, 14b) of the substrates (11a, 11b) and then retracted with the second substrate (11b) released from the cover (3) and carried by radially extended balls (10). The support pin (9) is lowered to a position where the balls (10), acting against the first bonding surface (12a), deform the first substrate (11a). The first bonding surface (12a) being therefore slightly concave, the first and second bonding surfaces (12a, 12b) only touch close to their circumferences.

  • Patent number: 7309398
Abstract: A glass structure, such as a mirror facet, having a glass member, a composite structure and a support structure. The composite structure includes a rigid interlayer which is bonded to the glass member and exerts a compressive force thereon to place the glass member in compression. The support structure is used to mount the glass structure and prevents the glass member from collapsing due to the compressive force exerted by the rigid interlayer. The glass structure is particularly well adapted for use in forming heliostats, parabolic dishes, trough concentrators, or other like elements for use in solar power systems, and does not suffer from the limitations or prior forms of such devices.
