  • Patent number: 4570339
Abstract: A kitchen utensil for facilitating the removal of the contents from boil-in-the-foil type food pouches (retort pouches). Such retort pouches are usually made from a laminate of three materials, i.e. polyester, which forms the outer layer, aluminum foil, which forms a barrier in the middle, and an inner layer of polypropylene to retain the food taste. The utensil has an elongated handle and a pair of elongated prongs extending in parallel from the handle at one end. The length of the prongs is at least as great as the width of the pouch. The prongs define a gap between them dimensioned to snugly receive two layers of the pouch material. The pouch can thus be inserted into the gap and the prongs moved over the pouch to cause the contents to be squeezed towards one end of the pouch. The utensil preferably also has a pouch opening device located at the free end of one of the prongs.

  • Patent number: 4569134
Abstract: This invention relates to a trimming cord for a cutter which cuts weeds or the like. In accordance with the invention, rotary discs provided on the output shaft of gearing are shaped like a reel and elongated wire-like trimming cords are wound onto it in the direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the reel-shaped rotary discs. A plurality of guide support rods are positioned equidistantly around an outer circumferential opening of the reel-shaped rotary discs so that the wire-like trimming cords wound onto the reel-shaped rotary disc are thrown outward from the outer circumferential opening of the rotary discs and are rotated by the centrifugal force of the rotation of the rotary discs. During repeated cutting of weeds and the like, the wire-like trimming cords gradually wear out and their ends become shorter so that each trimming cord gradually approaches the guide support rod supporting its base portion.

  • Patent number: 4565004
Abstract: A multipurpose tool useful in the construction of stained glass windows is described. The tool comprises a stiff, short blade having a curved cutting portion which sweeps around the end. The blade is provided with a short frusto-conically shaped handled which, in the preferred embodiment, comprises an inner core portion fabricated preferably of a heavy material and an outer sleeve portion fabricated preferably of wood, plastic or hard rubber. When used as a knife to cut lead came, the short construction of the present invention permits the end of the handle to be placed in the palm of the hand with the thumb and fingers placed generally parallel to the length of the handle along the sides of the handle as well as on the sides and back of the blade. This permits the entire strength of the arm, rather than merely the wrist, to be used for cutting the lead came, while permitting the hand to be still placed close to the lead channel being cut so that precise control over the tool can be maintained.

  • Patent number: 4562644
Abstract: The lubricant-applying safety razor includes single or multiple cutting blades supported in a blade-supporting head and a lubricant roll is supported by the blade-supporting head in a position in advance of the cutting edges of the blades when the safety razor is moved along the skin of the user in a shaving motion. The lubricant roll has a peripheral surface for engaging the skin of the user in advance of the cutting edges of the blades and is provided to apply a thin lubricous film to the skin in advance of the cutting edges for the purpose of reducing the coefficient of friction between the wet skin surface and the lubricous film. The peripheral surface of the lubricant roll initially positions the skin surface in a limited angular relationship with the blades. With continued use of the razor, the lubricant roll begins to wear away and thereby lowers so that the angular relationship between the cutting blades and the skin surface gradually increases.
