  • Patent number: 6050292
Abstract: An absolute pressure regulator valve assembly for controlling the absolute pressure (P.sub.C) of a fluid source. The absolute pressure regulator valve assembly includes a hollow housing having an inlet port and a discharge port. The inlet port is in fluid communication with the fluid source. The discharge port is associated with a valve seat. A bellows assembly is positioned within the housing. The bellows assembly has an open first end and a closed second end. The first end is gas-tight sealed to the housing and is in fluid communication with a means for providing a reference pressure (P.sub.R) within the bellows assembly. A valve closure element is attached to the closed end of the bellows assembly. The valve closure element is positioned relative to the valve seat wherein motion of the bellows assembly provides opening and closure of the discharge port.

  • Patent number: 6047730
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for the drive system for double seat valves comprising two individually movable closure members which, in addition to the open position, can each be individually moved into a partial open position. The object of the invention is to construct a device which is easy to assemble and is space-saving and which should be able to provide externally adjustable, partial lift stops for both closure members. Said object is attained in that a piston (107) of a first individual adjustment device (1b) for the partial open position (T1) of the independently driven closure member (4) is displaceably arranged, to form a seal, externally in a drive housing (100) of the drive device (1), and a piston (108) of a second individual adjustment device (1c) for the partial open position (T2) of the dependently driven closure member (5) is displaceably arranged, to form a seal, externally in a cylindrical recess (107a) of the piston (107), which recess faces a main adjustment device (1a).

  • Patent number: 6044862
Abstract: A valve assembly has a discharge valve member and a suction valve member. One of these valve members includes a reed valve. The reed valve has a tab which includes a slot which engages a cantilevered pin. The cantilevered pin allows flexing of the pin upon contact with the reed valve. In addition, the cantilever mounting of the pin provides a lubricant reservoir for lubricating the interface between the pin and the reed valve.

  • Patent number: 6044849
Abstract: A fluid pressure release valve includes an aperture through which fluid can flow. An element is movable to unseal the aperture and to open the valve when a force exerted by the fluid in the valve exceeds a predetermined force. An electromagnetic biasing arrangement biases the element to seal the aperture and hold the valve closed against the escape of fluid with the predetermined force. The applied bias is variable according to changes in the sensed position of the element and a monitoring arrangement, cooperable with the solenoid, monitors the changes in its electrical properties as a shaft moves in the monitoring arrangement, indicating a change in position of the element. The monitoring arrangement also varies the bias to reduce the predetermined force responsive to the sensed change in position of the element indicating an opening of the valve.

  • Patent number: 6039072
Abstract: A safety valve arrangement for an installation operating with a pressure medium has a pressure medium input and a pressure medium output connected by a valve. The valve comprises a valve seat and a valve closing element. The valve closing element is moveable between an open position and a closed position and has an active surface that is subjected to the pressure medium in the opening direction of the valve. The valve closing element also has an auxiliary surface that is subjected to the pressure medium in the opening direction of the valve only when the valve closing element is lifted from the valve seat. A spring arrangement holds the valve closing element closed and the valve closing element moves from a closed position to an open position when the pressure medium acting upon the valve closing element is greater than the opposing force of the spring arrangement acting upon the valve closing element.

  • Patent number: 6035889
Abstract: A low cost diaphragm actuated absolute pressure regulator. The regulator comprises a housing having first and second sections that are secured together. The first section has a cavity and a diaphragm that seals the cavity and first section of the housing. An O-ring seal is disposed in a groove of the first section that seals against the diaphragm. The second section of the housing houses a movable and sealable vent plug that moves in response to movement of the diaphragm, and one or more vent openings for venting the interior of the second section to external pressure in response to motion of the diaphragm. The pressure regulator may be preferentially used in an upper atmospheric system that needs to maintain a specified pressure, but requires venting capabilities. Such systems include missiles that fly into the upper atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 6029684
Abstract: An inspection chamber for use in sanitary sewer systems has an integral back-flow prevention valve. The valve can be installed through an access pipe with the inspection chamber in place underground. The valve does not interfere with the installation or removal of a plug in the inspection chamber during construction and inspection of the sewer system. The inspection chamber comprises a clip oriented to receive a valve member from the direction of an access port. The valve member comprises a pin connected to a flap member by a narrow bridge member. The flap member has a projecting handle member. An installation tool holds the valve member by the handle member and provides a tab which can be hammered downwardly to snap the pin into the clip thereby securing the valve member in the inspection chamber. An inspection chamber according to the invention avoids the necessity of providing a separate buried back-flow prevention valve.

  • Patent number: 6029705
Abstract: A gas control valve is disclosed which enables a variable adjustment of the gas flows. Furthermore, a remote control may be utilized in conjunction with the gas control valve. The manufacturing expense and the size is kept at the lowest possible minimum. The main valve in the casing is followed by a switch which is known per se and equipped with a springy element and which, in conjunction with two valves, enables a modulating control with jerk-like on/off switching in the partial load range. This switch can be actuated by a tappet which is movable in longitudinal direction and projects beyond the gas-bearing casing to the outside and whose position can be changed by means of an operating element. The operating element can be actuated manually and/or via a driving unit in the form of an electrically driven motor coupled with a battery. The gas control valve for a gas-heated fireplace or similar installation serves the largest possible manipulation of the visible flames, in particular for decorative reasons.

  • Patent number: 6026852
Abstract: A pressure relief valve such as is used to relieve over-pressure in the passenger compartment of an automotive vehicle has valve flaps which are retained in connection with a housing by molded-in-place retainer strips. The valve is manufactured by an injection molding tool having a pair of mold halves defining a first mold cavity for forming the housing and a second mold cavity for forming the flaps. After the housing and flaps have set, the mold is opened, with the housing remaining in contact with one mold half and the flaps remaining in contact with the other mold half. One mold half is then moved relative to the other to place the housing and the flaps in alignment with one another, and the mold halves are closed again to place the flaps inside the housing and define a third mold cavity extending along the lines of desired attachment between the flaps and the valve seats.
