  • Patent number: 8515629
Abstract: Operation of an industrial vehicle is controlled based on the location of that vehicle at a facility. The control method includes storing, in a memory device onboard the industrial vehicle, a definition of a first area in a facility. Radio signals are transmitted to the industrial vehicle from at least three transmitters, and for each radio signal, determining a propagation time from the transmitter to the industrial vehicle. A location of the industrial vehicle is derived from the propagation times of the radio signals, and the location is employed to determine when the industrial vehicle is within the first area. Operation of the industrial vehicle is altered in response to the industrial vehicle being within the first area. For example, the industrial vehicle may be disabled, its maximum travel speed limited or an alert is sent to the operator, when the industrial vehicle is within the first area.

  • Patent number: 8074434
Abstract: A harvester for root crops such as beets is provided which preferably provides continuous flow of root crops from a header, along a transfer assembly, through a processing run, and to an elevator assembly. The harvester can be configured to include or accommodate interchangeable header assemblies having different numbers of rows and/or row spacings. The transfer assembly can be of a floating type and helps to provide an even distribution of beets to the grabrollers. The processing run includes full-length cleaning grabrollers disposed parallel to the direction of travel. Modular elevator assemblies can be provided to further enhance harvester versatility. Such an approach includes interchangeable ferris wheel and scrubber chain elevator assemblies. An improved scrubber chain elevator assembly can be used which has a wraparound scrubber chain design. A pivoting tank conveyor for evenly filling a holding tank can be included.

  • Patent number: 8016043
Abstract: An agricultural implement has a marker assembly that is pivotable in a generally rearward direction when the marker assembly collides with a relatively massive field obstruction. The interconnection of the marker assembly to a central frame of the implement allows the aforementioned pivoting to reduce damage to the central frame and/or the marker assembly during such collisions.

  • Patent number: 8019517
Abstract: An agricultural harvesting machine includes different working units, an input and display unit, a memory and evaluation unit, and a control device for influencing adjustable operating parameters of the working units, at least one set criterium being stored in the memory and evaluation unit, and, based on at least one crop material parameter and/or operating parameter that was determined in the harvesting process, and based on the at least one set criterium, a prognosis regarding the attainability of an actual harvesting goal is formulated, the prognosis being taken into account in the adjustment of the operating parameters.

  • Patent number: 8011439
Abstract: A marker assembly includes a first linkage section interconnected to a second linkage section by a pivoting joint. The pivoting joint also includes a spring linkage that limits momentum in the second linkage section before a marking disc carried by the second linkage section engages the ground. The spring linkage may be comprised of a spring that is retained by a pair of washers within a housing or canister. A linkage rod passes through the canister and has a set of nuts that are sized to catch the washers. Thus, if the spring linkage is compressed or extended, the catch nuts press up against the washers thereby compressing the spring. By compressing the spring, a force is applied in the opposite direction as the momentum in the marker assembly, which reduces the collective momentum in the marker assembly during deployment.

  • Patent number: 8006775
Abstract: A strip tillage implement includes a plurality of forward disk gang members for sizing plant residue. An upright tool support bracket extends rearwardly from the rear frame member and defines a downwardly opening accommodation space at a top portion of the bracket for a closing disk assembly rockshaft or support. The bracket includes a lower end supporting a parallel linkage that carries a clearing tool assembly in a generally constant horizontal attitude as the linkage pivots with movement of the clearing disks over obstacles. A tool support arm is pivotally connected to the bracket adjacent the parallel linkage and below the rear frame member. A closing disk arm supported from the rockshaft can be rotated to adjust down pressure or to lift the closing disk is completely out of ground contact. Closing disk spacing and disk angle are adjustable to provide the desired berm shape.

  • Patent number: 8006774
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for cutting slits in a surface, for instance a turf cover, comprising a frame displaceable over the surface, a movable cutter on the frame and oriented during use toward the surface for the purpose of cutting slits in the surface. The invention is distinguished in that the device comprises collecting means for collecting the material cut from the surface by means of the cutter. The invention also relates to a dispensing device, comprising a filler material container, a channel to an outflow opening oriented toward a slit, which channel is connected to the filler material container, and a dispensing mechanism in at least one of the channel and the filler material container.

  • Patent number: 7984768
Abstract: A ground opener unit for a seeding or planting unit includes an accessory mount attachable to an implement frame and a disc rotatably mounted to the accessory mount for forming a furrow in the ground. A scraper assembly includes a scraper plate defining a scraper edge for contacting and scraping a surface of the disc. The scraper plate is mounted to the arm by a pivot pin whose length defines a pivot axis about which the scraper plate may pivot in response to deflection of the disc. A spring is generally held in compression to bias the scraper plate against the disc.
