  • Patent number: 4483671
Abstract: A method and apparatus for manufacturing a multilayer powder blank, and the product of such manufacture which is suitable for subsequent extrusion. A hollow cylindrical container with its central axis oriented horizontally is rotated while powder is allowed to fall from a powder distribution tube in the center of the container downward onto the inner surface of the rotating wall, thereby forming successive layers of powder which are maintained in position by centrifugal forces acting thereon. The powder blank consisting of the multiple layers is removed from the container, isostatically compressed, and finally sintered, with fusion of the outer powder layers into a fused, water-tight coating.

  • Patent number: 4427352
Abstract: In a die, punch and core rod assembly for a powder compacting press wherein the core rod or rods remain stationary while the punch or punches are reciprocable relative to the die, the invention provides individual longitudinal position adjustment for the core rods by fitting the end of the core rods in a threaded member such as a set screw threading in a threaded bore in a core rod support member. The core rod support member is in the form of a pair of plates one defining a core rod support plate and the other a retainer plate, sandwiching a plastic locking plate. The core rods are immobilized in their adjusted position by the plastic locking plate, sandwiched between the core rod support plate and the retainer plate, being provided with a threaded bore aligned with the threaded bore in the support plate and having a slight screwthread mismatch with the threaded bore in the support plate.

  • Patent number: 4408974
Abstract: A film stretching unit movably positioned adjacent to an existing calender installation is described which includes a plurality of strecthing rollers having internal rotary joints for circulating a heating fluid therethrough. Alternate rollers are movable vertically without needing to change their rotational speed in order to easily thread the film through the stretching rollers.

  • Patent number: 4406439
Abstract: A poured concrete forming system for spa pools, and the like, comprises a form having two collapsible form members each having a closed perimeter. The lower form is shaped to fit within the perimeter of the upper form, and is positioned directly thereunder. A reinforcing grid is mounted within the upper form to securely retain the upper form panels in the preselected configuration, and also suspendingly supports the lower form. The assembled forms are set into a reservoir, such as a hole in the ground, and concrete may be poured about the form to create a monolithic spa pool construction.

  • Patent number: 4405112
Abstract: A gang form or tie rod holding bolt is adapted for holding a tie rod passing through abutting frames of prefabricated panel units, the frames having mating slots. The tie rod holding bolt includes a body portion and a slot leg for extending through the mating slots, a middle leg for loading the frames, and a tie rod engaging leg for transferring a load from the tie rod to the holding bolt. The form slot leg and the middle leg are horizontally offset to straddle the tie rod and the middle leg is adapted to transfer the load to the frames, thereby providing the bolt with great stability under heavy loads. The design avoids eccentric load on the bolt. An assembly includes the bolt, tie rod, wedge pin and two frames.

  • Patent number: 4405553
Abstract: A coil having a slot portion intended to be arranged in slots in a stator or a rotor of an electrical machine is manufactured by forming a coil part including a bundle of electrically insulated conductors and insulation surrounding the bundle, arranging a portion of the coil part in a mould including at least two mould parts, surrounding the mould with a heat-shrinkable material which is penetrable by an impregnating resin, subjecting the thus composed product to pressing and heating in a tool which together with the mould gives the slot portion its final shape, the mould parts being spaced from each other to provide longitudinal gaps between their confronting longitudinal edges, and the heating of the product causing the heat-shrinkable material to shrink and retain the slot portion in its final shape after removal of the composite product from the tool, thereafter impregnating the insulation with an impregnating resin and transforming the insulation into a solid state.

  • Patent number: 4394341
Abstract: An improvement is disclosed in the matrixing process employed in the manufacture of molded records. The improvement consists of using an insert in the matrixing process which is secured to the center portion of the matrix to be duplicated prior to electroforming a replica on the surface of the matrix. Metal is then electroformed over the surface of the matrix and the insert to form the replica and the insert is thereafter used to apply force at the center portion of the replica to force it away from the matrix on which it is formed.
