  • Patent number: 7362949
Abstract: Described is an intelligent fast-forward video system that automatically controls a relative play speed of the video based on a complexity of the content reflecting the real story of a video, thereby enabling to carry out a fast-forward viewing for summarizing an entire story of a digital video or moving fast to a major concerning part. The present invention obtains the complexity of the content using information of motion vector, shot, face, text, and audio for an entire video and adaptively controls the play speed for each of the intervals on a fast-forward viewing of the corresponding video on the basis of the obtained complexity of the content. And, in more detail, the present invention plays a complicated story interval relatively slow and a simple and tedious part relatively fast, thereby enabling to provide a user with a summarized story of the corresponding video without viewing the entire video as well as a fast search for a part wanted by the user.

  • Patent number: 7359625
Abstract: A recording medium having content stream data recorded thereon and a recording and reproducing apparatus provided therefor. On the recording medium, content stream data is recorded as a stream object formed of one or more stream object units, each having a predetermined size and one or more stream packs. Each of the stream packs has an application time stamp indicating reproducing time information and a plurality of application packets in which the content stream data is packed. Each of the stream object units, excluding the last stream object unit, has at least one entire application time stamp. Thus, search information on all of the stream object units is correctly obtained, and program searching is carried out without error.

  • Patent number: 7352956
Abstract: Stream recording assumes e.g. a settop box to be connected to a DVD Streamer. The connection is e.g. of IEEE 1394 type using interfaces including transmitting and receiving firmware. Stream Data include one or more Stream Objects which each can be stored as a Program Stream as described in ISO/IEC 13818-1, Systems. The invention allows to realise Access Units in such DVD Streamer. Each Stream Object contains its own Access Unit data. A trickplay mode, e.g. fast forward, is performed by selecting the desired Access Units which are derived from a mapping list with incremental application packet arrival times.

  • Patent number: 7352959
Abstract: The moving picture reproducing device to decode frames of moving picture data and synchronously output decoded moving picture data based on time information given to each frame, and to count up the number of frames from a first frame up to a second frame. The first frame is given the time information and appears first toward the positive direction of time axis from a predetermined intermediate seek position in the data stream. The second frame appears first after a key frame which is not given the time information and appears first toward the positive direction of time axis from the intermediate seek position. The time information of the key frame is thereby interpolated based on the time information of the first frame and the counted number of frames to reduce the extent of decoding processing and buffering during reproducing a MPEG moving picture data stream when the reproducing is performed from an optional intermediate seek position.

  • Patent number: 7343088
Abstract: A table which includes entries corresponding to frames in one-to-one relationship is generated. Information of each frame is described in each entry according to a display order. When video data has a frame rate of 24 frames/sec, a dummy entry is inserted for every four frames. A top_field_first flag, a repeat_first_field flag, and a picture type flag are described in each entry. A frame to be displayed is generated based on these flags. The present invention can be applied to an optical disc apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7340154
Abstract: A television set include a DVD-IC 20 for outputting a composite signal a containing subtitle information and closed caption information, a TV-IC 10 for outputting an OSD signal b based on the closed caption information identified in the composite signal a, and a serial bus connecting the DVD-IC 20 and the TV-IC 10. The DVD-IC 20 informs the TV-IC 10 of the setting status of subtitle display based on the subtitle information in a DVD player. The TV-IC 10, if the setting of subtitle display based on the subtitle information in the DVD player is ON, turns OFF the setting of subtitle display based on the closed caption information in the television receiver, thereby prohibiting an OSD signal b from being outputted.

  • Patent number: 7340149
Abstract: A recording medium for storing virtual deletion information, and recording and/or reproducing method and apparatus therefor are provided. The recording medium includes a first region having a plurality of still pictures, and a second region having first virtual deletion information for the still pictures, and still picture group information for separating the still pictures in the first region into a predetermined maximum number of groups in order to manage the still pictures at a group level, wherein the first virtual deletion information is within the still picture group information, and if the first virtual deletion information is set to a virtual delete state, the corresponding still picture is not to be reproduced. Accordingly, file extent information can be prevented from excessively increasing by maximally preventing a recording area from being scattered, when some of a data file are deleted by a user's request.

  • Patent number: 7333713
Abstract: In a disk camera, when additional information and moving picture information are managed as one file and recorded on an optical disk, useless area is minimized, thereby allowing effective use of recording capacity. A recording controlling part records continuously with respect to a logical block of the optical disk, at least one of input video and audio information in a packet format of a fixed length that is different from a data size of the logical block, and creates a data file for recording with respect to the logical block, additional information with respect to the video or audio information in the packet format of the fixed length. In this one data file, a fixed data size portion of the additional information is arranged in an area ahead of an area in which the video and audio information are arranged, and a variable data size portion of the additional information is arranged in an area behind the area in which the video and audio information are arranged.

  • Patent number: 7324735
Abstract: An image data processing system is configured to store image data with redundant protection in the form of a redundant array of inexpensive disks (RAID). An input card is configured to receive an input stream of real-time digital video data, possibly provided by a video tape recorder. The video image data is stored and a processor is arranged to perform processing operations upon the stored video data. The input card receives an input stream of real-time video data and the processor performs a first writing operation to write the video data to storage (106) in real-time without parity. The processor then performs a reading operation to read the data from storage and performs a data manipulation (307) upon the data to generate parity information to create protected video data. The processor then performs a second writing operation to write the protected video data back to storage.

  • Patent number: 7317868
Abstract: The present invention has an objective of providing an optical disk having a high resolution picture and a system for reproducing data on the optical disk, which are compatible with a conventional system for reproducing an ordinary resolution picture. A high resolution signal is divided into a main signal and a sub signal by picture division means and MPEG-encoded. The main signal and the sub signal are divided into frames each having 1 GOP or more. The resultant first interleave block 54 and second interleave block 55 are recorded alternately on an optical disk. A high resolution reproduction apparatus reproduced both the first and second interleave blocks, so that a high resolution picture is obtained. A non-high resolution reproduction apparatus reproduces only the first or second interleave block, so that an ordinary resolution picture.
