  • Patent number: 5074766
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for an internal combustion engine has at least one pump piston movably disposed in a piston sleeve in a pump housing. The piston includes a first arrangement operable during a stroke in a suction direction for drawing fuel from a suction side of the pump. The piston further includes a second arrangement operable during a stroke in a delivery direction for first cutting off a connection to the suction side of the pump and then initiating delivery from a working chamber into a pressure line. The piston and piston sleeve are provided with a control arrangement which divides the fuel injection into pre-injection and main injection phases. At least one pressure limiting arrangement is provided and is associated with the working chamber. The limiting arrangement is operable during the pre-injection phase when a predetermined engine speed is reached for maintaining the pressure in the working chamber and in the pressure line at a predetermined level.

  • Patent number: 5044153
Abstract: In a turbojet aero-engine of the bypass type in which the compressor includes pivotally mounted blow-off valves for discharging air from the primary air flow path through the compressor to prevent surging, the compressor further includes pivoted means associated with the blow-off valves such that the pivoted means lie against the wall of the primary air flow path whenever the valves are closed or are open below a predetermined angle of opening and, when said valves are opened beyond said predetermined angle, the pivoted means are caused to project into the primary air flow path for collecting excess water carried by the air and discharging this water from the flow path.

  • Patent number: 5032061
Abstract: Hydraulic pump with axial pistons (1) in which each piston (1) forces the hydraulic liquid through a nonreturn valve, said nonreturn valves being connected to a control jack (20) by means of which the nonreturn valves can be made inactive, characterized by the fact that the nonreturn valves are placed in a chamber (10) and consist of a sliding support (15) inside of which there is disposed a spring (17) acting on an organ (16) serving as valve, which slides inside the sliding support (15), the latter being able, at will, to be coupled by any suitable means to the control jack (20).

  • Patent number: 5028219
Abstract: A vacuum pump includes a rotor and at least one bearing that is supplied with a lubricant and that is situated, during operation, in a negative-pressure environment. In order to extend the useful life of the bearing, it is proposed that the bearing is formed from a ceramic material.

  • Patent number: 4968226
Abstract: The present invention is directed to the prevention of gas lock in submergible reciprocating insert pumps typically employed in oil and gas wells. A plurality of openings are formed in the midportion of the body of the pump barrel. These openings allow fluid from the tubing string to enter the intake chamber of the barrel during a portion of the upstroke permitting equilibration of the pressure differential therebetween. Commercially available pumps can be modified easily to provide a pump in accordance with this invention.

  • Patent number: 4893994
Abstract: An improved guide assembly, including a guide bearing and a pair of guide shoes, for a variable displacement wobble plate compressor is disclosed. The guide shoes include a body portion and positioning lugs that extend outwardly therefrom and arcuately around the guide bearing. The body portion engages the bearing and positioning lugs terminate in bearing edge surfaces. The lugs extend around the guide bearing such that said bearing surfaces are in close juxtaposition for load bearing contact. During operation, as compressor loading increases, the loading on the guide shoes from the wobble plate increases as well. This higher loading, and the tendency for uneven loading, brings the edge surfaces of the positioning lugs into load bearing contact. This serves to equalize the loading and substantially prevent relative guide shoe motion and frictional line contact with the guide rod. Thus, undesirable excess wear due to frictional contact of the guide shoes and the guide rod is avoided.
