  • Patent number: 6478458
Abstract: A motorcycle license plate frame having an illuminated message bar is provided. The message bar has transparent optical apertures in the shape of symbols and/or alphanumeric characters that form a message. The message is illuminated by a light source located behind the message bar and connected to the motorcycle's electrical system. The color of all or portions of the message can be altered with tinted filters placed between the light source and the optical apertures. The message bar is made from a structural material and can be easily removed allowing replacement of the message without the expense and trouble of replacing the entire unit.

  • Patent number: 6478446
Abstract: A shade assembly of projection lamp includes an insulating body, two fixing members, two conductive plates and two resilient members. The insulating body has two receiving spaces therein and two insertion holes. The two fixing members each has a receiving recess for the conductive plate, one end of the fixing member is inserted and tightened into the receiving space. The two conductive plates each has a first lateral side and a second lateral side. The two conductive plates being arranged within the receiving recesses for a conductive plate; the conductive plate has a bottom end facing the insertion hole. Each of the two resilient members is provided between the insulating body and the conductive plate to enhance the clamping force for the conductive plate. The receiving space has an inner wall provided with an indent groove to prevent dragging out of the fixing member.

  • Patent number: 6474835
Abstract: A touch-controlled lighting circuit assembly includes a holder shell having a top open chamber, a bottom open chamber and a through hole between the top open chamber and the bottom open chamber, a battery set installed in the bottom open chamber, and a light-emitting element installed in the top open chamber with a first lead-out wire inserted through the through hole of the holder shell and maintained in contact with the negative terminal of the battery set and a second lead-out wire extended out of the holder shell and suspended below the bottom open chamber and adapted to touch the positive terminal of the battery set for causing the light-emitting element to emit light when vertically pressed against the bottom open chamber of the holder shell.

  • Patent number: 6474860
Abstract: An optical interface for data communication that can be manufactured and aligned in a cost effective manner includes an array of optical emitters and an optical receiver are positioned within a predetermined tolerance with reference to each other so as to establish an optical data communication path. To search for and determine which of the emitters of the array achieves the best alignment, the optical emitters are individually energized in a sequence, while monitoring the output signal of the optical receiver. For subsequent data communications, the optical emitter determined to achieve the best alignment is employed.

  • Patent number: 6472990
Abstract: A pool safety lighting system is designed for use in diving swimming pools, in particular, which have a shallow portion connected to a deep portion by an intermediate sloping wall. To reduce the risk of injury for persons diving into the pool, either using a diving board or diving from the edge, colored warning lights are placed in the bottom of the pool, typically with a green light in the deepest portion and a red light at the transition from an intermediate portion to the shallowest portion, with a yellow light located on the intermediate rising portion between the deep part of the pool and the shallowest part. The light delivery system ideally is a fiber optic cable system supplying light to fiber optic cables terminating in the bottom of the pool and supplied with light from a source remote from the pool.

  • Patent number: 6461026
Abstract: A lighting fixture includes a housing, a frame, and a hinge assembly pivotally coupling the frame to the housing. The hinge assembly includes a first hinge part fixed to and extending from the housing and has first and second support arms and a pin extending between the support arms. A centering bar is located between the first and second support arms. The hinge assembly also includes a second hinge part extending from the frame and slidably engaged with the first hinge part. The second hinge part has a first arcuate lead arm and a first trap arm defining a receiving area between the lead arm and the trap arm. The pin of the first hinge part is received in the receiving area of the second hinge part. This allows the second hinge part to slide relative to the pin. Each of the lead and trap arms of the second hinge part is disposed near opposite sides of the centering bar of the first hinge part.

  • Patent number: 6455834
Abstract: An image reading apparatus includes a light source, an elongate light guide member for guiding light emitted from the light source toward an image read line, and a plurality of light receiving elements for receiving light reflected at the image read line. The light guide member includes a first portion, a second portion, and a connecting portion for connecting the first portion and the second portion. The first portion includes a light incidence surface facing the light source for entry of light emitted from the light source, and the light incidence surface is convexly curved widthwise of the light guide member. The second portion includes a light exit surface oriented toward the image read line for emitting light toward the image read line. The connecting portion is narrower than the first portion and the second portion.
