    Abstract: Adjustments during assembly of an illuminating unit having a conventional light pipe in order to position the light pipe and a light guide plate are laborious. Further, a minute prism group having a pitch on the order of 100 ?m must be provided to a side surface of the light pipe in order to uniformly guide illuminating light to the light guide plate. An illuminating unit of the present invention is provided with a light guide plate having an illuminating surface that is illuminated by light from a point light source, and a light pipe having an incident surface to which light from the point light source is made incident and an emerging portion from which the light emerges to the light guide plate. The emerging portion and the light guide plate are integrally joined.

A reflector, which reflects emission light from the light source toward the light incidence surface, includes a clamp portion that clamps the surface light source conversion member in a thickness direction thereof. The clamp portion contacts a corner portion that is formed between a light emission surface of the light guide and the light incidence surface of the light guide and is separated from the light emission surface. The reflector creates a gap, which is smaller than a predetermined thickness, between the light source and the light incidence surface.

    Abstract: A light rack assembly for off-road vehicles capable of surviving high vibration loads generated in off-road racing. Each assembly comprises at least one headlight sub-assembly having a center of gravity that, when mounted to the frame of the light rack assembly, resides in a spherical zone defined by the effective radius of the light and the mounting points of the light housing. Each light is isolated from vibration of the vehicle and can be individually adjusted to the preference of the driver without tools. The light rack assembly can be quickly removed from the vehicle, or be mounted such that the assembly can be rotated to adjust the light beams while the vehicle is in motion and rotated to retract the assembly to protect the lights when not in use.

    Abstract: A backlight unit, suitable for a large sized LCD device, includes a plurality of fluorescent lamps alternately provided under an LCD panel in at least two parts, formed by dividing a light-emitting surface. Adjacent end parts of the fluorescent lamps are overlapped partially. Each fluorescent lamp is shorter than a length (e.g., horizontal dimension) of the light-emitting surface. A reflective plate is provided below the plurality of fluorescent lamps, and has a rugged part underlying the overlapped portion of the fluorescent lamps. Alternatively or in addition, a light-scattering pattern can be provided in a portion of a light-scattering means, over the overlapped portion of the fluorescent lamps. The rugged part and/or light-scattering pattern prevents obscure rays in the overlapped portion and improves a uniformity of luminance of the backlight unit.

    Abstract: A frame structure for backlight modules is provided herein. A backlight module according to the present invention mainly contains a frame structure, a reflection plate, a light guide plate, optical films, and a light source unit. The frame structure contains a plate member and a frame member. There are a number of hook elements and clasp elements configured at corresponding locations along the edges of the plate member and the frame member respectively. Also along the edges of the plate member and frame member, there are a number of grooves and stopping blades configured at corresponding locations on the plate member and frame member respectively. When the frame member is joined to the plate member, their corresponding clasp elements and hook elements would interact to fixedly join together, and the stopping blades would stick into the corresponding grooves to prevent the frame member from deformation and escape under heavy pressure or strong impact.
