  • Patent number: 11450107
Abstract: A system for indexing animated content receives detections extracted from a media file, where each one of the detections includes an image extracted from a corresponding frame of the media file that corresponds to a detected instance of an animated character. The system determines, for each of the received detections, an embedding defining a set of characteristics for the detected instance. The embedding associated with each detection is provided to a grouping engine that is configured to dynamically configure at least one grouping parameter based on a total number of the detections received. The grouping engine is also configured to sort the detections into groups using the grouping parameter and the embedding for each detection. A character ID is assigned to each one of the groups of detections, and the system indexes the groups of detections in a database in association with the character ID assigned to each group.

  • Patent number: 11449998
Abstract: A convolutional neural network (CNN) is applied to identifying tumors in a histological image. The CNN has one channel assigned to each of a plurality of tissue classes that are to be identified, there being at least one class for each of non-tumorous and tumorous tissue types. Multi-stage convolution is performed on image patches extracted from the histological image followed by multi-stage transpose convolution to recover a layer matched in size to the input image patch. The output image patch thus has a one-to-one pixel-to-pixel correspondence with the input image patch such that each pixel in the output image patch has assigned to it one of the multiple available classes. The output image patches are then assembled into a probability map that can be co-rendered with the histological image either alongside it or over it as an overlay. The probability map can then be stored linked to the histological image.

  • Patent number: 11449768
Abstract: An approach is provided for a redundant feature detection engine. The approach, for instance, involves segmenting an input image into a plurality of grid cells for processing by the redundant feature detection engine. The redundant feature detection engine includes a neural network. The approach also involves, for each of the plurality of grid cells, initiating a prediction of an object code by the redundant feature detection engine. The object code is a predicted feature that uniquely identifies an object depicted in the input image. The approach further involves aggregating the plurality of grid cells into one or more clusters based on the object code predicted for said each grid cell. The approach further involves predicting one or more features of the object corresponding to a respective cluster of the one or more clusters by merging one or more feature prediction outputs of said each grid cell in the respective cluster.

  • Patent number: 11436711
Abstract: A system and method for improving a video characteristic of a video stream is described. According to various implementations of the invention, a changed region between a later-in-time image frame and an earlier-in-time image frame and an unchanged region between such two image frames are determined. A new improvement to the video characteristic is determined and applied to the changed region of the later-in-time image frame. A prior improvement to the video characteristic that was determined for the earlier-in-time image frame is applied to the unchanged region of the later-in-time image frame.

  • Patent number: 11412217
Abstract: Embodiments herein include an image manager that provides for image compression by rearranging an order of blocks from one or more images and then sorting and writing those blocks into one or more different images. This technique enables using a high-level of image compression to reduce a relatively large amount of pixels to a common subset of values than would ordinarily be possible with the original image(s). This can include extracting a plurality of blocks from a graphical digital image file. Each block from the graphical digital image file can be a group of pixels. The image manager analyzes each block to produce a corresponding variation value for each of the blocks, indicating a level of variation of pixel data within a respective block. The image manager sorts blocks according to the variation values, and can apply a level of image compression to each respective block, based on the variation value and/or average color of each respective block, to compress each respective block.

  • Patent number: 11380138
Abstract: The present invention describes a device and method for touchless palmprint acquisition. The method can be applied to a terminal device (including but not limited to mobile phones, tablet computers and other portable devices) with a display screen and a front-facing camera. The camera is used to capture images of palms. The screen is used as a supplementary light source. When lighting condition in the palm area is undesirable, the screen changes its display to improve the lighting condition inside the palm, which increases the recognizability of the palmprint. The palmprint acquisition device and method described in the present invention can be directly applied to existing terminal devices without requiring any additional hardware. By adopting a variety of ways to change the display of the built-in screen of the terminal device, the lighting condition of the palm area will be improved and the recognizability of the palmprint will be increased.
