Abstract: A method of Webpage navigation can include a computer device loading a Webpage having at least a first portion and a second portion, arranging the Webpage in order to present the first portion in the display area of the computer device and to place the second portion out of the display area, and presenting a navigation map corresponding to the Webpage in the display area. In response to a control command input with respect to the navigation map, the Webpage can be arranged in order to present the second portion in the display area.

Abstract: A method for preparing streaming media content to be rendered by a media player employs a proxy for the media player. The proxy sends a request over a network to a content server. In response, a rolling manifest file is received by the proxy. The manifest file includes a sequence of media segment URLs indicating an ordering of the media segments that create a representation of a portion of the content stream. The URLs follow a predefined naming convention that allows URLs occurring prior to and subsequent to the URLs included in the manifest file to be predicted. The proxy predicts additional URLs that occur prior to and/or subsequent to the URLs included in the manifest file. The manifest file is modified by inserting the additional media segment URLs into the manifest file. The additional URLs are sequentially located before or after the URLs included in the manifest file.

Abstract: A method and system for using a rendezvous server to make connections to fire alarm panels. In one aspect, an external computer is used to communicate with an authentication computer in a secure overlay network in order for the external computer to establish a secure connection with the secure overlay network and to communicate with a rendezvous server in order for the external computer to, in turn, communicate with the target alarm panels in the secure overlay network. In another aspect, the rendezvous server receives a communication from the electronic device, with the communication indicative of the electronic device seeking to communicate with only devices in the secure overlay network, in response to the communication, accesses information to communicate with the target fire alarm panels and uses the accessed information in order for the electronic device to communicate with the target fire alarm panels.

Abstract: A routing method operative in a content delivery network (CDN) where the CDN includes a request routing mechanism for routing clients to subsets of edge servers within the CDN. According to the routing method, TCP connection data statistics are collected are edge servers located within a CDN region. The TCP connection data statistics are collected as connections are established between requesting clients and the CDN region and requests are serviced by those edge servers. Periodically, e.g., daily, the connection data statistics are provided from the edge servers in a region back to the request routing mechanism. The TCP connection data statistics are then used by the request routing mechanism in subsequent routing decisions and, in particular, in the map generation processes. Thus, for example, the TCP connection data may be used to determine whether a given quality of service is being obtained by routing requesting clients to the CDN region.

Abstract: A system to collect and store in a special data structure arranged for rapid searching massive amounts of data. Performance metric data is one example. The performance metric data is recorded in time-series measurements, converted into unicode, and arranged into a special data structure having one directory for every day which stores all the metric data collected that day. The data structure at the server where analysis is done has a subdirectory for every resource type. Each subdirectory contains text files of performance metric data values measured for attributes in a group of attributes to which said text file is dedicated. Each attribute has its own section and the performance metric data values are recorded in time series as unicode hex numbers as a comma delimited list. Analysis of the performance metric data is done using regular expressions.

Abstract: A skip function for a broadcast or multicast media station is disclosed. In one embodiment, two content streams are simultaneously transmitted for a single radio station. A receiving device simultaneously receives the two content streams transmitted for the radio station. The receiving device provides playback of a first content stream of the two content streams. During playback of the first content stream, the receiving device buffers one or more most recently received content items from the second content stream. When a user of the receiving device initiates a skip, the receiving device performs a skip function by switching playback from the first content stream to the second content stream beginning at the start of the one or more most recently received content items from the second content stream that have been buffered at the receiving device.

Abstract: According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a method and technique for clustered computer environment partition resolution is disclosed. For a clustered environment having a plurality of nodes, the method includes: creating a key by a first node of the plurality of clustered nodes, the plurality of clustered nodes each configured to have access to a storage provider resource; communicating the key to remaining nodes of the plurality of clustered nodes; responsive to detecting a potential partition event, generating by at least one of the plurality of clustered nodes a lock code using the key for reserving the storage provider resource; and responsive to determining an unlocked status of the storage provider resource, resolving the partition event by writing the lock code to the storage provider resource.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for implementing multicast in system area network channel adapters are provided. With the apparatus and method, a multicast packet is received in a channel adapter of an end node. The channel adapter determines which local queue pairs are party of the multicast group identified by a destination local identifier in the multicast data packet. Based on this determination, the channel adapter replicates the data packet and delivers a copy of the data packet to each local queue pair that is part of the multicast group.

Abstract: News feed techniques are described. In implementations, content is parsed from one or more emails that are addressed to a user. The parsed content from the email is exposed, automatically and without user intervention, for output in a news feed of the user.

Abstract: Systems and methods for migrating a virtual resource from a source host in a source network to a destination host in a destination network are provided. In one embodiment, the method comprises establishing a secure communication connection between a source proxy in the source network and a destination proxy in the destination network; and monitoring migration traffic directed from the source host to the source proxy and forwarding said traffic to the destination proxy which in turn forwards the traffic to the destination host over the secure communication connection between the source proxy and the destination proxy, such that the communication addresses of the source host and the destination host remain guarded from direct access by an entity outside of the source network or the destination network.

Abstract: The disclosure discloses a method, a device and a terminal for editing and playing music according to a data download speed. The method includes: generating, according to a preset number of continuously recorded download speed values, a number of preset speed domains, wherein the number of the preset speed domains is one more than the preset number of the download speed values, and setting one set frequency for each preset speed domain, wherein each set frequency corresponds to one preset musical sound; and playing a preset musical sound corresponding to a set frequency which corresponds to a preset speed domain when an immediate subsequent download speed value is within the preset speed domain. By means of the disclosure, an entertainment effect of “playing music randomly” can be achieved, so that entertainment experience of a user is increased and competitiveness of a product is improved.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention disclose a software download method and apparatus. The method includes: acquiring a fanout command and a replacement instruction delivered by a device management server, and replacing, according to the replacement instruction, a software identifier in the fanout command with a software local download address generated for software; delivering the converted fanout command to each terminal corresponding to the fanout command, so that each terminal downloads the software according to the software local download address. The present invention further provides another software download method and software download apparatus. In the embodiments, multiple terminals can be effectively prevented from retrieving data externally, and a local storage function provided by a device management gateway is used to directly acquire download data of the software from a local network of the device management gateway, thereby significantly improving the efficiency.

Abstract: A server for an operation system includes a monitor to monitor a status of another server, a first storage to retain a first network configuration information, a second storage to copy the first network configuration information when an abnormality is detected in the another server, a third storage to retain a first update history information including update information of a network configuration information obtained from a client in the operation system, and an operation configuration manager to update the first network configuration information and a second network configuration information retained in the another server when the another server recovers from the abnormality. The operation configuration manager is configured to update the first network configuration information and the second network configuration information based on the first update history information and a second update history information retained in the another server.

Abstract: A system and method are presented for monitoring handheld devices in a testing environment. At least one handheld device is provided, typically several, that is capable of performing a first plurality of functions in a non-test mode, and a more limited number of functions in a test mode. In a test environment the handheld device should be set to perform in the test mode. In the event of the handheld device mode being changed from the test mode to non-test mode, the handheld device generates a non-test mode signal. A monitoring software application records the non-test mode signal. In one aspect, the monitoring application is embedded in a remote proctor device. The remote proctor device monitoring application may send a mode interrogation message to the handheld device, and the handheld device generates the non-test mode signal in response to the mode interrogation message.

Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and method for time synchronization in a Precision Time Protocol (PTP) network. According to an aspect, there is provided a time synchronization apparatus including: a synchronization unit configured to perform time synchronization between a master and at least one slave based on the number of synchronization messages that are sent from the master; a state-of-synchronization determiner configured to measure performance of the synchronization to thereby determine the state of the synchronization; and a number-of-messages adjustor configured to adjust the number of synchronization messages based on the state of the synchronization. Therefore, by automatically adjusting the number of synchronization messages that are sent from a master according to network traffic, the states of slave nodes, etc., it is possible to minimize entire network traffic and optimize the synchronization performance of nodes.

Abstract: A storage controller is implemented for controlling a storage system. The storage controller may be implemented using a distributed computer system and may include components for servicing client data requests based on the characteristics of the distributed computer system, the client, or the data requests. The storage controller is scalable independently of the storage system it controls. All components of the storage controller, as well as the client, may be virtual or hardware-based instances of a distributed computer system.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system are described for a central management system to configure remote devices. A device service manager server (DSM) may have an IP redirector module configured to cooperate with two or more device service controllers (DSCs) that are behind a firewall on a wide area network relative to a location of the DSM on the wide area network, where the DSM serves as a central management station for a distribution of initial configuration information to the DSCs, wherein an executable boot up file uploaded via a drive port in that DSC is scripted to gather configuration information for that DSC and network devices on the same network as that DSC and without a prompt by the DSM then sends configuration files to the DSM which makes a master copy of the device configuration file in the DSM's registry for that DSC.

Abstract: According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a method and technique for domain based partition and resource group management is disclosed. The method includes: responsive to determining that an operation is being attempted on an object, determining a partition identifier associated with the object; determining a domain identifier associated with a user attempting the operation; determining whether the operation can proceed on the partition based on domain isolation rules, the domain isolation rules indicating rules for allowing or disallowing operations to proceed on the partition based on partition identifiers and domain identifiers; and responsive to determining that the operation on the partition can proceed based on the domain isolation rules, permitting the operation.

Abstract: A method and system for displaying a composite video image to a human viewer has a sub-system associated with a video camera to monitor position, viewing direction or depth of focus of the camera when positioned at a setting to view a modification scene at a recording time. A video recording of an image of the modification scene is made and stored. At a viewing time subsequent to the recording time, a viewer at the setting perceives an image of a foundation scene and a vantage position monitor sub-system associated with the viewer is used to monitor vantage position data related to the viewer's present vantage position at the time of perceives the foundation scene. Modification image data is selected and accessed from memory, the accessed data depending on the monitored vantage position data. The image data corresponding to the foundation scene and the modification scene are combined as a composite image and displayed to the viewer at the subsequent time.
