  • Patent number: 8958434
Abstract: An end user network access point monitors and collects usage statistics associated with all content accessed by the end user devices through the access point. One or more external control servers collect the usage statistics from each access point, thereby compiling macro-level statistics related to content accessed by the end user devices. The one or more external control servers can be co-located with the network equipment of the broadband infrastructure provider, or the one or more external control servers can be independent of the broadband infrastructure.

  • Patent number: 8948182
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide a method. The method includes receiving a first processed transaction unit output from an egress port of a first design of a switching device. The first processed transaction unit corresponds to a transaction unit that enters the first design by an ingress port. The method further includes extracting a property in the first processed transaction unit, determining the ingress port based on stored property-ingress port association information, identifying a memory element configured to store processed transaction units output from a second design of the switching device based on the ingress port and the egress port, and comparing the first processed transaction unit with a second processed transaction unit from the memory element.

  • Patent number: 8942260
Abstract: Methods and systems for determining time delays of networks are disclosed. For example, a method for determining a time delay of a network having i) a transmitting node and ii) a receiving node, wherein each of the transmitting node and the receiving node comprises a Data Link Layer (DLL), a management layer, and a Physical Layer (PHY) is disclosed. The method includes determining a time that the first packet was received by the transmitting node, forwarding the time that the first packet was received to the management layer of the transmitting node; forwarding information in the first packet to the transmitting node; and determining the time delay of the network by subtracting the time the time that the first packet was received by the DLL of the transmitting node from a transmit time provided via the management layer of the receiving node.

  • Patent number: 8934389
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for offloading control of services in a mobile device to a non-cellular wireless network, such as Wi-Fi. The described system and method allow the overall connection management to be performed by an application processor, while services are handled in a modem using Wi-Fi connectivity. The Wi-Fi subsystem can be fully driven by the modem for time critical operations allowing the application processor to be off (or in low-power mode) when it is not involved in the delivery of services. Battery power is saved by being able to substantially power down the application processor.

  • Patent number: 8923306
Abstract: A packet processor provides for rule matching of packets in a network architecture. The packet processor includes a lookup cluster complex having a number of lookup engines and respective on-chip memory units. The on-chip memory stores rules for matching against packet data. Each of the lookup engines receives a key request associated with a packet and determines a subset of the rules to match against the packet data. Based on a prefetch status, a selection of the subset of rules are retrieved for rule matching. As a result of the rule matching, the lookup engine returns a response message indicating whether a match is found.

  • Patent number: 8897161
Abstract: To reduce an uplink interference in a network with a first base station of a large output and a second base station of a small output. Detecting the interference, the second base station urges the first base station to hand over a terminal causing it to the second base station. Multiple base stations and one or more terminals exist in this system, each terminal connects with one base station, and a serving base station is changed according to a communication state of each terminal. If the different second base station other than the first base station to which the terminal connects detects a large interference, the second base station will multicast transmit information for urging handover to the base stations except itself. The base station having received the information specifies a terminal giving the interference to the second base station, and makes it to be handed over thereto.
