  • Patent number: 4541163
Abstract: A method and apparatus for applying a hydraulically expandable hub to a shaft by the use of a fixture for mounting the hub square to the end of the shaft as the hub is applied. The fixture comprises a pair of relatively slideable rings, one of which supports the hub as it is applied to the end of the shaft and the other of which slides over a small bearing support end of the shaft and maintains the two rings square relative to the shaft axis as the hub is applied.

  • Patent number: 4501063
Abstract: The magnet insertion apparatus includes a first passageway along which magnets are fed. Arranged in communication with the first passageway, and at right angles to it, is a second passageway. A transport blade, reciprocably mounted in the second passageway, displaces the leading magnet to a position in a third passageway disposed parallel to and offset from the first passageway. A drive rod, reciprocably mounted in the third passageway pushes the magnet into a stylus arm held in alignment with the third passageway. According to a further aspect of the invention, the third passageway is provided with a guideway for accurately guiding the magnets. The insertion machine is additionally equipped with a reciprocably-mounted tucking element to tuck the magnets into the guideway.

  • Patent number: 4486931
Abstract: A scarifying machine is provided with a mounting plate having a plurality of downwardly open wells formed in it adjacent its periphery and that extend above the plane of the plate. Each well is defined and bounded by a pair of downwardly diverging, upwardly smoothly merging internal surfaces rendering the well non-clogging. A plurality of scarifying discs are mounted to the plate with the discs extending upwardly into the wells and downwardly beneath the mounting plate for contact with a floor.

  • Patent number: 4480795
Abstract: Presented is a method and means for use in cleaning the inside surfaces of a waste disposal unit. The device does not interfere with the grinding action of the disposal unit, nor is the device forming the subject matter of this invention subjected to the grinding action of the disposal unit while in use. Additionally, the device may include appropriately scented oils effective to make the inside of the disposal unit pleasantly aromatic.

  • Patent number: 4477954
Abstract: A pressure roller (1) with longitudinal axis of variable shape, in which an outer jacket (2) is supported in central position by an inner shaft (3) running essentially coaxially to the said jacket (2) in effective contact with ball bearings (5) carried in turn by the said shaft (3), whose end bushings 8 support the said jacket (2) by means of further ball bushings (10), one at each end; each round bushing (8) being so arranged that they are adjustable with respect to an eccentric journal (6) fixed to the corresponding end of the inner shaft (3) and eccentric to the said shaft.

  • Patent number: 4476614
Abstract: A rolling bearing arrangement has two axially spaced rolling bearings with their inner rings shrunk to a shaft and their outer rings interference fit in a housing. The outer ring of one bearing engages a radial abutment surface, and a spring extends between another abutment surface and the outer ring of the other bearing. Inner and outer locating rings held on the shaft and in the housing respectively abut the inner and outer rings of the second bearing. The arrangement enables the accurate axial prestressing of the bearing by selective heating of portions of the arrangement and application of weight thereto.

  • Patent number: 4457361
Abstract: A method and apparatus including a connection element for transfer of knock- or impact-beating energy from a mechanically, hydraulically or pneumatically driven knock- or impact-beating device upon heating or cooling surfaces to be cleaned intermittently. The heating or cooling surfaces are installed in a container or vessel driven and operated on the gas side at an elevated pressure compared with respect to the atmospheric environmental pressure. The heating or cooling surfaces have external flow of hot, dust-laden gases thereagainst. The knock- or impact-beating device is fastened externally of the pressure container.

  • Patent number: 4437220
Abstract: A method and apparatus for dismounting a trunnion bearing from a universal joint utilizes a plate that is secured to the proximal arm of one yoke of the joint through which dismounting bolts are threaded into contact with the other joint yoke. Further threading of the dismounting bolts into the plate causes the one yoke secured to the plate to move along a pin of a crossed-pin member of the universal joint, bringing a pin end into contact with the trunnion bearing in the distal arm of the one yoke, thereby urging it out from its press-fitted position in that arm.
