    Abstract: A modified lower receiver for a standard assault rifle includes a modified receiver body and a magazine release. The modified receiver body defines a modified magazine well, a trigger well and modified forward and rear takedown holes, and the magazine release is mounted on a side of the modified receiver body and extends into the modified magazine well. The modified magazine well is longer than a magazine well of a standard lower receiver by a predetermined distance forward of the magazine release. Positions of the modified forward and rear takedown holes are also forward of respective standard positions of forward and rear takedown holes by the same predetermined distance. A method of modifying the assault rifle includes removing the standard lower receiver and firing pin from an upper receiver, installing a longer, modified firing pin into the upper receiver, and installing the modified lower receiver on the upper receiver.

Release of the handle (25) enables deployment of the fuse assembly. Spring-loaded striker lever (31) is urged upwards by the force of torsion spring (38). Contact between the free end (34) of the striker lever (31) exerts a rotational force on cammed portion (22). The safety lever (21) rotates away from the body of the munition (20). Rapid upward movement of the striker lever (31) is prevented at this stage by contact of the free end (34) with the cammed portion (22). Further rotation of the safety lever (21) occurs until point where the cammed portion (22) is no longer in contact with the striker lever.

    Abstract: A magazine for use in a firearm includes first and second feed lips having folded portions to reinforce the strength of the respective feed lips. In some embodiments, the strength of the feed lips may be further reinforced by applying one or more welds. The feed lips are capable of withstanding greater amounts of force to avoid failure. Accordingly, the disclosed magazine and method for providing the magazine reduce the “spring back” effect present in conventional magazine feed lips. This removes the additional step of having to over-form the feed lips that is performed when forming a magazine having conventional feed lips. The result is a method for providing a magazine with folded feed lips that are capable of withstanding greater amounts of force to avoid warping, deforming, or other failure, wherein the method for forming the magazine is more accurate, more consistent, and involves fewer steps.

The grip is rotatably attached to the pivot, which in turn is attached to a receiver of a firearm. The linkage is in communication with the grip and a magazine release of the firearm such that rotation of the grip causes the linkage to slide toward or away from a muzzle of the firearm. The linkage and magazine release are preferably configured wherein the magazine release is not functional when the grip is angled away from the axis of the firearm. Conversely, when the axis of the grip is parallel to the axis of the firearm, the magazine release is functional.

Selective use of low energy protocol saves battery life in non-critical situations, while use of cellular protocol is more reliable when communication of critical situations is necessary.
