Abstract: Non-cariogenic sugar composition comprising 2 to 10 ppm fluoride, and preferably 50 to 400 mg/100 g each of calcium ion and phosphate (calculated as P) and 5 to 50 mg/100 g magnesium. The composition is made by blending a composition deficient in fluoride ion with a composition superabundant in fluoride ion, preferably obtained by selection of a superabundant fluoride ion containing fraction of cane sugar containing molasses, such as raw cane sugar, molasses, affination syrup, dried solids of molasses or of affination syrup or a blend thereof with refined sugar, or by evaporation of a mineral water to obtain a concentrate.
Abstract: A method for providing preemergent weed control in large seeded crops and certain medium and small seeded crops. The method comprises the preemergent application of certain 5-alkylamino-3-oxo-2-optionally substituted phenyl-4-(3-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4,5-dihydrofurans to control weeds in such crops.
Abstract: The water dispersible granule of the present invention contains (a) a pesticidal active ingredient which is solid at room temperature, (b) an anionic surface active agent, and (c) a kaolin series clay having a volume median diameter of 2 .mu.m or more, and it exhibits a good disintegrability-in-water and a high dispersion stability.
Abstract: Described is the use of one of the materials:1-octen-4-ol;Bulgarian Rose Otto; andThe Schiff Base of Ethyl Vanillin and Methyl Anthranilateas a mosquito repellent.

Abstract: A selectively herbicidal composition comprising a seclectively herbicidal amount of(1) 4-amino-6-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-3-(methylthio-1,2,4-triazin-5-(4H)-one of the formula ##STR1## and (2) 3,5-dibromo-4-hydroxybenzonitrile of the formula ##STR2##
Abstract: Herbicides are described which comprise herbicidally active compounds of the formula ##STR1## in which R, R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 have the meanings indicated in the description, their N-oxides and the acid addition salts of the compounds I or their N-oxides, and the use of these substances and of the compositions are described. Certain novel compounds of the formula I, N-oxides and acid addition salts and their preparation are also described.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for imparting insect repelling qualities to the hide or skin of animals by orally administering small but effective amounts of acetate salts to the animals, preferably on a daily basis.
Abstract: A method of controlling fungus is provided which comprises contacting said fungus with a fungicidally effective amount of a compound having the following structure: ##STR1## wherein R is a halogen ateom, andR.sup.1 is selected from the group consisting of substituted or unsubstituted, straight or branched alkyl having from about 1 to 6 carbon atoms, alkoxy having from about 1 to 6 carbon atoms, halo, provided that when any R.sup.1 is chloro, n is 2 and at least one R.sup.1 is meta-chloro, substituted or unsubstituted sulfamoyl, and substituted or unsubstituted carbamoyl, where n is 1 or 2.
Abstract: A process for producing a stable, bactericidal and fungicidal composition which consists essentially of bubbling air or oxygen into limonene, to produce an oxidized limonene having a rapid bactericidal activity as evidenced by the capability of killing at least 99.99% of the bacteria in a suitable culture medium inoculated with 10.sup.6 colony forming units of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 per ml.

Abstract: Compositions, methods and apparatus provide for the control of Ixodid hard tick populations. The compositions comprise a cholesteryl ester and 2,6-dichlorophenol. In combination, these compounds attract and induce mating behavior in male ticks thus disrupting normal mating, with subsequent reduction in tick populations.

Abstract: A method of reducing cracking and peeling of human fingernails and toenails and, apparently, of polishing and hardening and toughening them. A finely divided powder comprising substantially pure dolomite is provided. The powder is manually rubbed on the fingernails for periods on a regular schedule. After a short time, fingernails that had previously been subject to chipping and cracking are found to resist chipping and cracking and to appear to have a harder and tougher surface.
Abstract: Cotton plants may be rendered male sterile while retaining substantial female fertility by contracting the plants with a gametocidally effective amount of a novel compound which has the formula: ##STR1## where X is oxygen, sulfur, or ##STR2## and where R is a substituted and unsubstituted aryl, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkoxy and alkene group, and maintaining the effective amount for a sufficient time to form sterile plant flowers that can then be pollinated by a second variety cotton plant to provide cotton having hybrid cotton seeds.
Abstract: Synergistic antimicrobial and biocidal compositions comprising 2-n-octyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one and one or more known biocides for more effective, and broader control of microorganisms in various industrial systems are disclosed.
