  • Patent number: 11290672
Abstract: An image sensing device and an image sensing method are provided. The image sensing device comprises an image sensing array, multiple analog-to-digital converters, a multiplexer, a write controller, a memory, and a read controller. Each of pixel capturing areas of the image sensing array acquires multiple analog pixel data sequentially at the same time. Each of the analog-to-digital converters converts these analog pixel data into multiple digital pixel data. The write controller receives the digital pixel data generated by the analog-to-digital converters from the multiplexer, and writes the digital pixel data to the memory according to a first pixel arrangement of the digital pixel data. The read controller reads the digital pixel data from the memory according to a second pixel arrangement related to the video format, thereby generating a video signal of the video format.

  • Patent number: 11272120
Abstract: A light measurement processing unit controls the driving of a light measurement sensor in a plurality of drive modes. The light measurement processing unit performs light measurement calculation of obtaining the brightness of a subject when a first drive mode is set and calculation of detecting flicker of a photographed scene when a second drive mode is set. Furthermore, the light measurement processing unit performs calculation of detecting a motion vector of the subject between images of continuous frames in the first drive mode. A camera control unit determines a shutter speed by limiting a speed on a high speed side as compared to when flicker is not detected at the time of panning in light exposure control, when flicker is detected at the time of panning on the basis of the calculation result of the light measurement processing unit.

  • Patent number: 11265499
Abstract: Techniques are described for error-modulated pixel readout by column-parallel programmable gain amplifiers (PGAs) in a digital image sensor. Each PGA has an amplifier with gain set by a ratio of input and feedback capacitors. Mismatch between these capacitors can manifest as vertical fixed pattern noise (FPN) in the image output. Embodiments use a swap control signal to pseudo-randomly toggle between two or more swap states for each of a sequence of row scan times. Each swap state at least directs coupling of a particular capacitor network in either the input or the feedback path of the amplifier. Pseudo-randomly swapping those couplings of the capacitive networks also pseudo-randomly modulates gain error from capacitive mismatch between the capacitor networks. The FPN effectively becomes spatially modulated noise at a level far below what would be considered as a visible artifact in the image output.

  • Patent number: 11258978
Abstract: The present invention encompasses methods and systems of representing video in continuous time. Photons incident on pixels in an imaging array are continuously captured using a continuous time imaging sensor array to produce respective continuous time analog signals without any discontinuity in time. At each pixel, the respective continuous time analog signal is modulated into respective continuous time binary analog signals. The continuous time binary analog signals from all pixels can then be aggregated to produce a frame free video. Further, at each pixel, the respective continuous time analog signal may be modulated using a continuous time sigma delta modulator to produce the corresponding continuous time binary analog signal. The sigma delta modulator may be one of charge-based or current-based.

  • Patent number: 11172139
Abstract: Auto exposure metering is adapted for spherical panoramic content. Using input image data, a first metering map is generated for a selected image sensor and a second metering map is generated for an unselected image sensor. Auto exposure level values for the selected image sensor and for the unselected image sensor are respectively metered using the first metering map and the second metering map, such as by adjusting luminance weights in certain locations of the respective image sensor panoramic image capture band. Hemispherical images are processed using the auto exposure metered level values and stitched together in a panoramic format to produce a spherical panoramic image. The metering maps are generated to account for areas of greatest image data importance relative to a primary orientation direction of the spherical panoramic image. This allows for effective auto exposure metering of such areas within the resulting spherical panoramic image.
