  • Patent number: 6824369
Abstract: This invention concerns pumping fluids to both high pressures and high flow rates and thus has a very high power density. The technology pertains to both fluid power and to fluid transfer and is adaptable to a wide scope of use. The concept is a very simple rotary variable displacement expansible chamber pump which can also be a rotary kinetic pump and thus is a hybrid. At a positive displacement setting, the pump primes by positive displacement, then as the rotational speed increases; the pump gains a kinetic pumping component, then as head pressure increases the pump again becomes positive displacement. At a zero displacement setting, the pump is purely a rotary kinetic pump. The variable displacement feature allows both performance and efficiency. The porting allows very high rotational speeds and flow rates near to centrifugal designs. When set at zero displacement, the device has features both of positive displacement fan (gear pump) and kinetic (centrifugal pump). The pump is vibration free and silent.

  • Patent number: 6824370
Abstract: Disclosed is a gas compressor capable of preventing generation of noise due to the vibration during the rotation of the rotor. A rotor rotating in a cylinder around a rotation shaft has five radially extending vane grooves, each of which supports a vane. The respective directions of the vane grooves are determined such that the respective angular differences between at least three adjacent compression chambers are not less than 5 degrees. Thus, the angular intervals in terms of direction between the vanes supported by the vane grooves are also different from each other. As a result, the timing with which the vanes pass the outlet port is irregular, and the discharge period is thus unequal between a plurality of compression chambers, whereby the periodicity of the vibration based thereon is reduced, and the peak values of the basic vibration component are reduced.

  • Patent number: 6821098
Abstract: A compressor has male and female rotors with enmeshed screw-type body portions. A housing cooperates with the rotors to define inlet and outlet chambers for pumping of fluid from/to when the male rotor in a first direction and the female rotor rotates in an opposite direction. The housing cooperates with the rotors to define inlet and outlet ports at the inlet and outlet chambers for each of a male and female compression pocket. • Patent number: 6821092
Abstract: A scroll compressor has a biasing chamber which contains a pressurized fluid. The pressurized fluid within the chamber biases the two scroll members together. A valve assembly is in communication with this biasing chamber and releases the pressurized fluid on demand to remove the load, biasing the two scroll members together. When the biasing load is removed, the two scroll members separate, creating a leakage path between discharge and suction to reduce the capacity of the scroll compressor.

  • Patent number: 6808368
Abstract: Second stage turbine buckets have airfoil profiles substantially in accordance with Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y and Z set forth Table 1 wherein X and Y values are in inches and the Z values are non-dimensional values from 0.088 to 0.92 convertible to Z distances in inches by multiplying the Z values by the height of the airfoil in inches. The X and Y values are distances which, when connected by smooth continuing arcs, define airfoil profile sections at each distance Z. The profile sections at each distance Z are joined smoothly to one another to form a complete airfoil shape. The X and Y distances may be scalable as a function of the same constant or number to provide a scaled up or scaled down airfoil section for the bucket. The nominal airfoil given by the X, Y and Z distances lies within an envelop of ±0.160 inches in directions normal to the surface of the airfoil.

  • Patent number: 6808373
Abstract: Inner peripheral projections are provided on the inner peripheral surface of a wrap portion of an orbiting scroll member, and outer peripheral projections are provided on the outer peripheral surface of the wrap portion. The inner and outer peripheral projections each have an approximately triangular transverse sectional configuration defined by a narrow top of the projection and a pair of concavely arcuate surfaces extending with a wide overall width so that the projections can prevent stress concentration with the concavely arcuate surfaces to increase the mechanical strength and can be readily machined by using a tool, e.g. an end mill. When contacting the mating wrap portion, the narrow tops of the projections are readily crushed or worn. Therefore, the tops of the projections can become fit to the wrap portion without strongly contacting it many times.

  • Patent number: 6799955
Abstract: A rotary machine including a housing with spaced apart end walls defining a chamber. A two-lobe lenticular rotor assembly is disposed in the chamber for eccentric rotation therein. A hole passes through a central portion of the rotor assembly. Slots are cut in one end of the rotor assembly about the center of the rotor assembly. A rotor guide assembly includes generally cylindrical guideposts which extend parallel toward the slots and engage in eccentric rotation of the slots. A shaft extends through the center of the hole. In one embodiment an even number of six or more spaced slots and half that number of guideposts spaced around the shaft are used which allows for a larger sized hole and shaft. In another embodiment, four slots which are shifted toward the apices of the rotor, and two guideposts are used, which also allows for a larger sized hole and shaft.
