Patent number: 4601224Abstract: A hot wire cutting system for cutting a pattern shape in a block of polyfoam for use as a casting mold for a metal shielding block to be used in radiotherapy treatments is described. The system provides proportioned current responsive to deflection of the hot cutter wire in order to cancel the deflection and maintain the wire in its optimal central cutting position. The hot cutter-wire preferably passes through a field which provides fine vibratory motion of the cutting wire allowing use of lower wire temperatures to effect the cutting. The system may include optical means for determining the accuracy of the profile cut in the polyfoam block.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1984Date of Patent: July 22, 1986Inventor: William T. Patent number: 4599927Abstract: A tool elevation and bevel adjustment machanism for a direct drive power tool (e.g., a direct drive table saw) is disclosed in which the power tool's drive motor is mounted on a plate which is pivotally suspended below the work table of the power tool. A working tool (e.g., a circular saw blade) is mounted on the rotor shaft of the motor. The plate with the motor mounted thereon is selectively pivotal with respect to the work table by means of a screw linkage such that the plate, together with the tool, may be selectively adjusted with respect to the table such that the tool is either perpendicular to the work table or is at a desired bevel angle with respect to the work table. Additionally, the motor is pivotally mounted on the plate for arcuate movement with respect to the plate.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 1985Date of Patent: July 15, 1986Assignee: Emerson Electric Co.Inventors: Curtis J. Patent number: 4599925Abstract: A system for cutting fiberboard wherein a table is provided for supporting the fiberboard with a cutter mounted above the table whereby the cutter is adapted to engage the insulation. The cutter is movable vertically for adjusting its position relative to the insulation and the mount for the cutter is provided with a drive whereby the cutter can be driven longitudinally and transversely of the table for cutting the fiberboard into various shapes. A hold-down device is associated with the cutter for movement therewith and for pressing against the insulation during the cutting operation to thereby prevent displacement of the insulation relative to the table. The cutter preferably comprises a cutting blade rotatably supported on a vertical shaft with the shaft and blade having freedom of movement during a cutting operation.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 1984Date of Patent: July 15, 1986Assignee: The Lockformer CompanyInventor: Rudolph A. Patent number: 4592430Abstract: A tool has a housing, a reversible fluid-pressure operated rotary motor which is arranged to drive a bit holder via reduction gear boxes and a clutch which is designed to slip at a predetermined torque. When a trigger is pressed, pressure air is delivered via a valve to the motor, and in a first position of the valve the motor is driven in a forward direction. When the predetermined torque is reached, the clutch slips and displaces an actuator which opens another valve. This in turn creates a pressure differential across the valve which causes it to move to its second position in which pressure air is delivered to the motor to drive it in the reverse direction. When the trigger is released, the valves return to their original positions.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1983Date of Patent: June 3, 1986Assignee: Compair Power Tools LimitedInventors: Raymond J.
