  • Patent number: 4624458
Abstract: A self-adjusting foot holding structure for embracing the back of the leg and the top of the foot is disclosed for use with a tiltable body exerciser. The foot holding structure includes left and right laterally displaced U-shaped leg embracing pads supported, respectively, near the upper end of a carriage member. The carriage support member is slidable mounted along the lower end of the elongated, central frame member of the tiltable body exerciser. Left and right laterally displaced inverted U-shaped pads for embracing the top of each foot are slidably mounted, respectively, upon the upwardly extending section of an inclined bracket member. The base portion of the inclined bracket member is either rigidly or slidably attached to the upper surface of the carriage member near its lower end.

  • Patent number: 4623146
Abstract: An exercise device which has an elongate bar and a pair of weights, each removably mounted on one opposite end of the bar. A cushion tube, shorter than the bar, is mounted through antifriction bearings for rotary and axial sliding movement in telescoping relation about the bar. A sleeve is fixed to the center of the bar, and has outside diameter larger than the inside diameter of the antifriction bearings but smaller than the inside diameter of the tube to limit the extent of the axial sliding movement of the cushion tube relative to the bar and to confine the tube to positions generally at the center of the bar. One hand grip projects from each end of the bar in generally mutually co-planar relation therewith.

  • Patent number: 4623143
Abstract: An athletic and rehabilitative aid to build muscle mass and increase muscle tones in the peripheral extremities--the legs and arms. The malleable belt is comprised of a foam rubber like material containing synchronized weighted bars to form a flexible cartridge, which is covered with a fabric like material. The cartridge is used within a removeable exterior cover, allowing the user to vary the amounts of weight. The weights are inserted thru a zippered like opening in the cover. The exterior cover has two parallel straps with fasteners, which allow it to be easily attached to an arm or leg.The uniqueness of this aid allows one to use varied amounts of weighted cartridges easily exchanged.

  • Patent number: 4621622
Abstract: An apparatus for entertainment, therapeutic or other purposes is provided. It has a plurality of frame elements and cooperating pivotable elements which define a closed loop having universal joint features. A pair of exterior framing elements may have a pair of axles through which a pair of pivotal elements are secured in such a manner that the pivotable elements will rotate about a first axle on a first framing element and about a second axle on a second framing element. The pivotable elements may assume a geometric shape such as being spherical. The closed loop preferably has at least six framing elements.

  • Patent number: 4621808
Abstract: A visco-elastic or soft weight is disclosed, made from a core comprising a particulate weight-adding agent substantially homogeneously dispersed within a visco-elastic material and a cover surrounding the core.A novel weighted visco-elastic composition comprises a visco-elastic material comprising 77-97% plasticizer, 3-15% resin, 0-2% thixotropic thickening agent, 0-2% stabilizer, 0-2% stabilizer enhancer, and 0-2% surfactant and a particulate weight-adding agent in a ratio of weight-adding agent to visco-elastic material of between 1:10 and 2:1.

  • Patent number: 4620704
Abstract: Exercising machine having a plurality of resilient rods which are flexed and resist movement of a person using the machine. Forces are exerted on the resilient rods through cables to which a variety of attachments such as hand grips, foot stirrups and a sliding bench can be connected to exercise different parts of the body. The rods can be used in any combination to suit the requirements and physical abilities of the person using the machine.

  • Patent number: 4615522
Abstract: An exercise device is formed from a generally single-piece, stiff frame having loops at the end of the frame for holding two non-adjacent fingers in a fixed position while leaving the remaining fingers free to exercise. This frame may be combined with a riser secured to the black keys on a piano for the purpose of exercising the hand and fingers. The riser is usable separately from the exercise device.

  • Patent number: 4615335
Abstract: Apparatus for permitting exercise by a bedridden patient includes a patient bed having guard rails extending generally along one side and with a bracket supported by the rails. A motor is carried by the bracket, the motor having a drive shaft extending generally normal to the rails and toward the bed. A crank arm is fixed at one end to the drive shaft and dimensioned substantially shorter than the distance between the drive shaft and the surface of the bed, with a handle or footstrap at the other end of the crank arm for permitting a hand or foot of the patient to be coupled to the crank arm so that the patient may exercise by rotation of the crank arm and the drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 4613130
Abstract: An exercise device for use in dystrophy therapy employs a compression spring which provides an adjustable resistance force. Manual application of a push-type force to a handle actuates a cumulative timer circuit for recording the elapsed time at which an exerted force exceeds a pre-established threshold force. The exercise device may also be converted to a pull mode wherein a pull force exerted between a plate and a handle connecting the exercise device actuates a cumulative timer circuit. The threshold force is adjustable by changing the axial position of the compression spring seat.

  • Patent number: 4609192
Abstract: A collapsible, portable exercise table includes a first group of legs for supporting the table in a planar and horizontal orientation for massage, and a second group of table legs for supporting the table in an inclined position as might be used in exercise. The table legs are either collapsible or removable, and a plurality of threaded receptacles are provided along the bottom of the table surface to selectively assemble the table for either usage. The table is constructed of a pair of table halves having a hinge joining them such that the table legs may be folded in or clipped against the table halves and the tables halves folded against one another and fastened together for storage or transportation.

  • Patent number: 4600187
Abstract: An exercising device simulating walking up steps. A pair of step treads are rigidly supported at a slight angle on the ends of a pair of step arms pivoted at the other ends on the bight portion of a "U"-shaped frame. A rocker plate is connected between the step arms and is adjustably braked by a pair of brake shoes rigidly connected to a cross arm connecting the legs of the "U". The cross arm is selectively attached to different portions of the arms of the "U"-shaped frame together with the rocker plate and brake shoes for adjusting the height of the steps. Support blocks are connected underneath the step treads to provide different angles of inclination of the step treads and accomplished by partial rotation of the blocks.
