    Abstract: A gear box having a plurality of selector forks which are mounted to be movable along a common axis is shiftable by a rectangular plate like gate movable in an axis angular to the axis of shifting of the forks. The gate and the forks are provided with cooperative means by which each of the forks are moved simultaneously with the other into predetermined positions. The gate is carried by an elongated circular guide rod fixed at each end to the housing and which extends parallel to the axis of movement of the gate. The gate is provided with at least one slide bearing having a circular bore fixed to the gate and located about the guide rod. In addition, means for stabilizing the gate against rotation about the axis of the guide rod is provided.

    Abstract: A power train having a gas turbine engine with controlled power transfer between the load turbine drive train and the compressor turbine drive train and a power shift transmission is shown. The engine control system includes a fuel control responsive to input and output speeds and compressor discharge pressure and an output power characteristic, horse power and torque, program control responsive to compressor and auxiliary torque and speed controlling the power transfer clutch between the compressor and engine to maintain proper turbine inlet temperature at a proper constant high value in a wide range of operation for optimum efficiency. Overcontrols responsive to acceleration and the temperature of the power transfer clutch and ambient air are provided. The power shift transmission control pressure is controlled by compressor discharge pressure and engine output or transmission input speed to provide a shift actuating pressure proportional to the torque produced by the engine.

    Abstract: A pump, driven by the engine, supplies hydraulic pressure as a function of engine speed; the engine controller provides a displacement force, for example by a cam, acting on a main valve slider, or spool of the switching pressure controller. To additionally provide a speed signal to the main spool, the switching pressure line, connected to the pump, has a Venturi, diaphragm, bent tube, or other constriction therein from which a hydraulic signal representative of engine speed can be derived, which hydraulic signal is applied as a force additionally acting on the main valve slider or spool so that the spool position, and hence output switching pressure, will be representative both of engine controller position as well as of engine speed.

    Abstract: An epicyclic transmission between a stationary member and a rotatable section of a prosthesis comprises a fixed ring gear secured to the stationary member, a driven ring gear of smaller diameter, and an annular planet pinion in mesh with both ring gears. The planet pinion is set in motion by a multiplicity of angularly spaced thrust-transmitting bodies, such as balls or pins, which are independently guided in apertures of an annular extension of the stationary member and bear upon an eccentric rigid with a drive shaft. The solid guide portions of this stationary extension can be used to accommodate energy-supply lines.

    Abstract: A positive drive differential to drive either or both of a pair of co-axially mounted axle-driving hubs, and to permit free overrun of either hub. There are two sets of roller clutch elements between the two hubs and the drive casing, and these are positioned in two cages having inwardly extending radial flanges located proximate each other between the two hubs. A pair of contiguous spring loaded washers, mounted centrally in the differential, press axially outwardly against the cage flanges to cause frictional engagement of the cage flanges with the hubs. This in turn causes the hubs to be further pressed outwardly against the drive casing to cause frictional engagement of the two hubs with the drive casing.

    Abstract: A self-loading limited slip differential is disclosed including at least two concentric layers of pairs of generally semi-spherical shells for applying friction torque bias to the driven shafts via the side and planetary gears of the differential gearing assembly. The shells of one layer are rotatably mounted on the planetary pinion shafts, respectively, and the shells of the other layer are non-rotatably connected with the driven shafts, respectively, said shells being compressed together as the side and planetary pinion gears are displaced apart upon the application of torque to the differential casing. In an alternate embodiment, in order to increase the friction torque bias, an additional pair of concentric layers of shell pairs are mounted concentrically upon the first two shell layers.
