  • Patent number: 9798450
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for implementing a multi-function button in a Graphical User Interface (GUI). One method includes an operation for presenting a button in a compact state when a mouse cursor is away from the button. The button in the compact state is displayed in a first button format when options associated with the button are in an unselected state, and in a second button format when at least one option has been selected. The options are hidden when the button is presented in the compact state. The button is presented in an expanded state when the mouse cursor is over the button, where unselected options are presented in a first option format and selected options are presented in a second option format. Selection of any option is enabled while the button is in the expanded state.

  • Patent number: 9753924
Abstract: A method for sharing digital media may include receiving an indication from a first user for sharing a clip selection from a digital media item (DMI) with a second user. A start point and an end point of the clip selection may be determined. The determination may be based on a number of times the first user has previously consumed the digital media item. An indication of the clip selection may be communicated to the second user. The indication for the sharing may be received in response to a sharing query. The query may be displayed to the first user during a consumption of the DMI by the first user. If the first user has not previously consumed the DMI, then during the consumption, the end point may be set as a current location in the digital media item at a time when the indication for the sharing was received.

  • Patent number: 9626067
Abstract: Approaches are disclosed for maintaining spatial relationships (i.e., a layout) between a table object and other objects placed on a virtual canvas of an application work space. In certain implementations, offsets between the other objects and the table object are initially determined and are used to maintain the spatial relationships when the table object is resized. In certain implementations, the movement of the objects in response to a resize of the table object is dynamic from the user's perspective and can be easily undone.

  • Patent number: 9612741
Abstract: An electronic device, with a touch-sensitive surface and a display, includes one or more sensors to detect intensity of contacts with the touch-sensitive surface. The device detects a contact on the touch-sensitive surface while a focus selector corresponding to the contact is at a respective location on the display associated with additional information not initially displayed on the display. While the focus selector is at the respective location, upon determining that the contact has an intensity above a respective intensity threshold before a predefined delay time has elapsed with the focus selector at the respective location, the device displays the additional information associated with the respective location without waiting until the predefined delay time has elapsed; and upon determining that the contact has an intensity below the respective intensity threshold, the device waits until the predefined delay time has elapsed to display the additional information associated with the respective location.

  • Patent number: 9606529
Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards enabling users to customize data collection and analysis. A collection computer may automatically detect and dynamically update each of a plurality of sensors that may be currently providing real-time data regarding at least one characteristic of a machine. At least one sensor may be selected for local storage of its corresponding real-time data at the collection computer. And at least one sensor may be selected for remote storage of its corresponding real-time data by a server computer. A template may be employed to remotely display at least one characteristic of the machine based on current real-time data provided by at least one of the sensors identified by the template. In response to the user selecting at least one sensor for remote display, the template may be modified to include the remote display of the at least one sensor's corresponding current real-time data.

  • Patent number: 9501213
Abstract: A method for scheduling an event in a calendar application is disclosed wherein the event is held at a fixed position on the screen of a device and a calendar grid is dragged relative to the event. The method is well-suited for touch devices and provides a way for the user to easily create and schedule events directly on a calendar grid without the need to enter event start and end times into a form. A view finder assists the user to set the desired start and end time. The view finder supports different zoom precisions which allow the user to enter start and end times of any granularity such as one minute granularity. A micro-dragging technique provides a way to easily select start and end times with high precision. The method may be extended to general applications where it is desirable to drag objects on a workspace.
