Patent number: 6910360Abstract: An apparatus for making mattress and upholstery spring coils. The apparatus has a wire feeding device and a wire guide adapted to support first and second wires of different diameters. The wire guide is movable to first and second positions to align the first and second wires, respectively, with the wire feeding device. A spring coiling machine is positioned adjacent the wire feeding device. When the wire guide is in the first position, the spring coiling machine receives the first wire of one diameter from the wire feeding device; and the spring coiling machine bends the first wire into a spring coil of a desired diameter and pitch and having a first stiffness. When the wire guide is in the second position, the spring coiling machine receives the second wire of another diameter from the wire feeding device; and the spring coiling machine bends the second wire into a spring coil of the desired diameter and pitch but having a second stiffness.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2001Date of Patent: June 28, 2005Assignee: L&P Property Management CompanyInventors: Hresc Stjepan, Gecic Josip, Duras Branko

Patent number: 6675623Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for manufacturing keystone type superconducting compacted stranded wires. In manufacturing the keystone type superconducting compacted stranded wires, a large number of superconducting wires are stranded to form stranded wires, which are then roll-formed. The method and apparatus are configured so that, in the roll-forming, one side of the compacted stranded wires, which is thinner than the other side thereof after being roll-formed, comes into contact with one flat roll before the other side of the compacted stranded wires comes into contact with another flat roll. The method and apparatus are provided as another configuration wherein one flat roll to contact with the compacted stranded wires to be thicker is smaller in diameter than another flat roll to contact with the compacted stranded wires to be thinner.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2002Date of Patent: January 13, 2004Assignee: The Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd.Inventors: Katsunori Wada, Tatsuo Shimada

Patent number: 6672124Abstract: A rolling roll train of the staggered-roll tandem type has a pair of upright stand walls with windows or openings for receiving a multiplicity of pairs of rolls which can be changed as a unit. The fact that unitary walls with traverses between the walls for stabilizing them and where those traverses are located between the roll pairs, enables the spacing between the roll pairs to be substantially reduced by comparison with free-standing individual mill stands for the roll pairs.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2002Date of Patent: January 6, 2004Assignee: SMS Demag AktiengesellschaftInventors: Michael Minnerop, Hans-Jürgen Reismann, Thomas Kosak

Patent number: 6651479Abstract: The present invention is directed to a one piece sinker reversibly attachable to a fishing line. The sinker is a streamlined, truncated cone shape having a line accepting passage along the center line thereof. The sinker includes line centering surfaces to prevent line twist as the sinker is drawn though water, and a elongated thumb slot for inserting a tool having a length longer than the sinker to allow a user to manually opening the sinker. Also disclosed is a method of making the sinker employing a unique core blade punch for forming the line accepting passage with the sinker jaws having discontinuous but mateable line engaging surfaces.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2002Date of Patent: November 25, 2003Assignee: Water Gremlin CompanyInventor: Geoffrey S. Patent number: 6634200Abstract: In a method for producing curved work pieces, an extruded profile leaves the die of an extruder in the strand discharge direction and is then bent into a curved shape by external forces. The extruded profile that leaves the die, before being bent, is deflected so that the strand discharge direction extends forwards at an angle counter to the eventual curvature of the work piece. To this end, the die comprises a tool holder in whose receiving opening an extrusion tool package consisting of a die with or without a mandrel and a cover part is disposed. The guide surfaces of the die and/or of the mandrel that produce the discharged strand are designed or disposed to be at an angle with respect to the strand discharge direction which extends at an incline with respect to the center axis of the die counter to the eventual curvature of the work piece.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 2001Date of Patent: October 21, 2003Assignee: WKW Erbsloeh Automotive GmbHInventors: Matthias Kleiner, Dieter Arendes, Alexander Klaus

Patent number: 6626020Abstract: A method of producing a vibration-isolating bushing with which it is possible to secure a larger area of the edge surface of an inner cylinder than in the prior art method. In upsetting one extremity of the inner cylinder by cold plastic working, after a rubber elastomer is secured to the outer circumference of the inner cylinder by vulcanization molding, as a jig for pressing onto the edge surface of the inner cylinder, an upsetting jig whose top surface is flat is used and the top surface of the jig is pressed onto the edge surface of the inner cylinder while causing the jig to gyrate on a conical orbit centering the axis of the inner cylinder, whereby the outside diameter only of the extremity is enlarged while suppressing the enlarging of the inside diameter.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2001Date of Patent: September 30, 2003Assignee: Toyo Tire & Rubber Co., Ltd.Inventors: Michihiro Kawada, Hiroaki Takahashi, Hideo Tadano

Patent number: 6604396Abstract: A wire condenser element bending method and a wire condenser element bending apparatus bend two wire condenser elements by pressing the wire condenser elements against a bending roller to form two scroll wire condensers simultaneously. Inner edge parts of the wire condenser elements are held by holding devices at diametrically opposite positions on the outer circumference of the bending roller. Pressure rollers press the two wire condenser elements against the bending roller while the bending roller is rotated to form two scroll wire condensers simultaneously. Each wire condenser element serves as a separator for separating layers of the other wire condenser element.Type: GrantFiled: January 2, 2002Date of Patent: August 12, 2003Assignee: Sanoh Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Norio Kobayashi

Patent number: 6571594Abstract: A sheet bending brake for forming a workpiece comprises a base and an anvil having a bottom-clamping surface. The anvil is positioned in a fixed spaced relationship above the base and in combination with the base defines an unobstructed passage therebetween for receiving at least a portion of the workpiece. A movable plate is disposed between the base and the top plate wherein the movable plate is vertically translatable therein for clamping the workpiece between a top surface of the movable plate and the bottom clamping surface. A bending member is pivotally attached to the movable plate and extends longitudinally therealong for bending the clamped workpiece.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2001Date of Patent: June 3, 2003Assignee: Tapco International, Inc.Inventor: Michael C. Patent number: 6568234Abstract: In a single strand hot rolling mill finishing section a plurality of multi-stand prefinishing rolling units are arranged along and are selectively shiftable onto and off of a first pass line segment. A multi-stand finishing rolling unit and a multi-stand post finishing rolling unit are arranged sequentially along a second pass line segment. A switch and associated delivery guides are selectively operable to direct products from the first pass line segment to the second pass line segment either at a location upstream of said finishing rolling unit, or alternatively, at a location between the finishing rolling unit and the post finishing rolling unit. With this arrangement, final rolling in the post finishing rolling unit may be preceded with or without rolling in the finishing rolling unit and with or without rolling in one or more of the prefinishing rolling units.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2001Date of Patent: May 27, 2003Assignee: Morgan Construction CompanyInventor: T.
