  • Patent number: 5543607
Abstract: In a check-out system, in which a purchaser himself who intends to purchase commercial products performs a check-out processing, having a commercial product casted portion, a stocker for stocking the commercial products, a transport unit for transporting the commercial product from the commercial product casted portion to the stocker, and a commercial product identifying unit located between the commercial product casted portion and the stocker for identifying the commercial product transported from the commercial product casted portion, the commercial product casted portion is provided with a commercial product code inputting unit for inputting a commercial product code, and a commercial product detecting unit for detecting that the commercial product is put on the transport path, and the commercial product identifying unit is provided with a commercial product code reading unit for reading the commercial product code of the commercial product being transported; and a first mode in which when the commercial

  • Patent number: 5408076
Abstract: In the described method, for keying-in of a given operating cycle a plurality of bar codes is provided to be sequentially inputted to an electronic control unit (114) with the aid of an optical detector (126) , each bar code corresponding to a specific operation to be executed on a workpiece (116) for carrying out a particular working. The bar codes (125) are reproduced on respective adhesive labels (127) applied to a work card (115) carrying the workpiece depiction, each code (125) being disposed close to a corresponding area of the workpiece (116) on which the corresponding working is to be made.

  • Patent number: 5408081
Abstract: A circuit for digitizing an analog electric signal generated from a photoelectronic conversion of reflected light when scanning indicia having spatially-separated, light-reflective portions includes a differentiator circuit for generating a first derivative signal representing a first derivative of the analog signal. A comparison signal generating circuit generates a comparison signal and an output circuit, coupled to the differentiator circuit and to the signal generating circuit, compares the first derivative signal and the comparison signal to generate an output signal indicating a change in the intensity of the reflected light. An output controller, coupled to the output means, controls passage of the digital output signal.

  • Patent number: 5324922
Abstract: Apparatus for managing a transaction using a transaction terminal having a manual code reading device, such as a barcode reader, for reading a data code printed on a visual medium. A transaction program forming part of the system includes at least one page of a visual medium having a first and second sets of data codes printed thereon. The first set of data codes in printed in a prearranged sequence and comprises a predetermined sequence of program commands for carrying out all of the steps of a prearranged transaction, including a subset of program commands associated with a corresponding subset of data entry steps. The second set of data codes is printed on the same or another page of said visual medium. Each of the data codes in the second set comprises a prearranged item of transaction data for use in said data entry steps. The transaction terminal includes a computer means interfaced to said manual code reading means. This computer means including a program storage device and a data storage device.

  • Patent number: 5317136
Abstract: An information reading device for use in a system in which a plurality of slave devices, including the information reading device, are connected to a master unit through a common signal line. The information reading device controls an interrupt signal from the master unit and is provided with an irradiation portion for irradiating electromagnetic waves on a recording medium (i.e., bar code), a signal converting portion (i.e.

  • Patent number: 5286955
Abstract: A method is described of wireless transmission of data onto a data carrier, in particular onto a chip card or IC card, by said data carrier being placed in a high-frequency field. To carry out amplitude keying, the field is switched on and off, with the information being here the number of periods transmitted between two transmission intervals. The semiconductor circuit accommodated in the data carrier receives its clock from the received high-frequency field or from an oscillator allocated to the semiconductor circuit, with this clock being off during a transmission gap.

  • Patent number: 5235172
Abstract: A data carrier has been described, wherein a bar code is arranged line by line in the data face of a data carrier. At the start and at the end of each line, an additional field is provided in which is arranged a line indicator. The line indicator equally exhibits a bar combination corresponding to the selected bar code. The additional fields of the first line contain the total number of the lines, with the total number being coded as a letter.
