Abstract: A method of determining a physical property of a finger using a sensor comprising a two-dimensional measuring arrangement including a plurality of measuring elements, each defining a measuring element position in the measuring arrangement, and each comprising a finger electrode spaced apart from the finger by a dielectric structure. For each measuring element position, the method comprises the steps of performing a first sensing operation using a first capacitive configuration, acquiring a first measurement value for the first capacitive configuration, performing a second sensing operation using a second capacitive configuration, acquiring a second measurement value for the second capacitive configuration. The physical property of the finger is determined based on the first and second measurement values for each measuring element position.

  • Patent number: 10089547
Abstract: Aircraft system and method detecting and present information relating to adverse airborne phenomena along an aircraft flight route. An imaging unit that includes an IR detector and a tunable spectral filter acquires IR images of the external environment, by acquiring wideband IR images when operating in a first mode and narrowband IR images respective of difference IR spectral bands when operating in a second mode. A data analysis unit detects and determines characteristics of adverse airborne phenomena in the environment based on at least the spectral signatures of environmental features in the acquired narrowband IR images. • Patent number: 10083358
Abstract: A method and system for associating an image of a face of at least a person with Point-of-Sale (PoS) data by aligning a first event time series with a second event time series based on a dynamic time disparity. An exemplary embodiment can generate an event time series containing facial recognition data for a person or persons during the PoS transaction process. These data can form a vision-based checkout event time series. An embodiment can also collect PoS transaction data from the retail checkout system, using timestamp information to create a second event time series. As there may be a time disparity between the time series, they can then be aligned in order to match events from one time series to the other. Faces identified in checkout events in the first time series can be registered to PoS events and the results stored in a database.

  • Patent number: 10076445
Abstract: A system and method are provided for removing a natural lens and inserting an Intraocular Lens (IOL) into the lens capsule of an eye. Specifically, this is accomplished by inserting the IOL through an opening on the posterior capsule that is created using a focused laser beam. The system includes a laser unit, a detector for creating images of the interior of the eye, and a computer that controls the cooperative functions of the detector and the laser unit. Based on images of the posterior capsule provided by the detector, the computer is used to control movements of the focal point through tissue of the posterior capsule to perform Laser Induced Optical Breakdown (LIOB) on posterior capsule tissue. The result is a laser capsulotomy that creates an opening through the posterior capsule allowing the natural lens to be removed and the IOL to be implanted.

  • Patent number: 10049287
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for improving interactions with and between computers in an authentication system supported by or configured with authentication servers or platforms. The systems interact to identify access and retrieve data across platforms, which data can be used to improve the quality of results data used in processing interactions between or among processors in such systems. The disclosed anti-spoofing systems and methods provide improved functionality to facial recognition systems by enabling enhanced “spoof” (or attempts to impersonate a user) detection while authenticating a user. The disclosed systems and method provide additional functionality to existing facial recognition systems that enables such systems to actually determine whether the image being captured and/or recorded is that of an actual person, as opposed to a non-human representation.
