  • Patent number: 8856154
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention allow structured data to be transferred between a source application and a service-oriented target application that process data in different formats. The data to be transferred may be divided into different sections, where each section is processed by a respective service of the target application. To transform each section of data into a format compatible with a respective service, the data may have a set of associated rules which transform data based on a set of variables. The source application may provide variable definitions for each of the variables. Each service of the target application may specify values for each of the variables. Once the variables have a specified value, a transformation engine may transform each section of the data and subsequently transfer the transformed sections of the data to respective services of the target application for processing.

  • Patent number: 8849825
Abstract: A distributed storage system may store data object instances in persistent storage and may store keymap information for those data object instances in a distributed hash table on multiple computing nodes. Each data object instance may include a composite key containing a user key. The keymap information for each data object instance may map the user key to a locator and the locator to the data object instance. A request to store or retrieve keymap information for a data object instance may be routed to a particular computing node based on a consistent hashing scheme in which a hash function is applied to a portion of the composite key of the data object instance. Thus, related entries may be clustered on the same computing nodes. The portion of the key to which the hash function is applied may include a pre-determined number of bits or be identified using a delimiter.

  • Patent number: 8751447
Abstract: A computer that is programmed with software attaches one object (“from-object”) to another object (“to-object”) by preparing a new duplicate of certain metadata in the from-object, without copying any content of the from-object. The new duplicate metadata is stored in memory for use in identifying the from-object and the to-object as being attached. If the from-object itself has any existing attachments, e.g. to a group of additional objects, there already exists a group of existing metadatas that form existing attachments between the from-object and the group of additional objects. In such a case, the computer still prepares, without content copying, a group of new metadatas to identify the relationship between a corresponding additional object and the from-object. Some embodiments also identify the to-object within each metadata in the group of new metadatas, thereby to identify a path of objects through which an additional object is accessible.

  • Patent number: 8738593
Abstract: A method for increasing performance of non-relational databases with reduction in view index sizes is provided. One or more user views are provided in addition to the master view having all hierarchical/categorized data. User views are created having a subset of this hierarchical/categorized data that significantly reduces index size and improves performance. The indexes of the user view are associated with the indexes of the master view. This method improves view caching by dividing view cache into partitions based on the types of view, each with different priorities and management techniques. The master view may have a higher priority and may be used by servers while the user view may have lower priorities and may be used by users and client applications. In this way, legacy non-relational databases may continue to be suitably maintained with acceptable performance and avoiding potential cost and risk of migrating to a relational database.
