Patent number: 4133751Abstract: A sizing screen for sizing particulate materials, for example, is provided which uses a plurality of wire loops arranged to define a plurality of parallel wire strands extending between a first end and a second end of a screen frame. The frame has anchor means mounted at its first end and tension means at its second end. In the simplest form of the invention, pairs of wire strands are adjusted simultaneously by the tension means. In more advanced forms of the invention, means are provided for adjusting pluralities of the wire loops, each wire loop adjustment corresponding to two wire strand adjustments. The frame is constructed so that the wire strands have a double crown. One crown extends along the width dimension of the frame, and a second crown extends along the length dimension of the frame. The double crown arrangement promotes more even spreading of material as that material travels along the wire screen and is important in maintaining wire strand position.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1977Date of Patent: January 9, 1979Inventor: Joseph E. Stengel

Patent number: 4132642Abstract: A process for filtering a cellulose acetate solution comprises the steps of providing a solution of cellulose acetate which is dissolved in an organic solvent; adding to the solution a quantity of loose particulate matter and loose fibers so as to form a mixture; and filtering the solution through pores of a filter medium so as to produce a filtrate of the solution, whereby due to addition of the loose particulate matter and the loose fibers clogging of the pores is reduced relative to the amount of filtrate passing through the pores and the effective filtering time of the filtering medium is thereby increased.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 1977Date of Patent: January 2, 1979Assignee: Chemap AGInventors: Hans Muller, Rudolf Buhler, Nikolas Rapsomanikis

Patent number: 4128474Abstract: A wet mechanical process is described for cleaning, upgrading and dewatering fine coal. The process provides for forming an aqueous feed slurry of fine coal and its associated contaminant particles wherein all particles have a particle portion size of less than about 6 mm. ranging to zero. The feed slurry is separated into coal slurry and refuse slurry portions in a spiral gravity concentrator by removing contaminants having a particle size greater than about 0.15 mm. The concentrated coal slurry is then fed to a hydrocyclone separator where all of the ultra-fine silt material having a particle size of less than 0.15 mm. is removed and the coal particle fraction 6 mm. to 0.15 mm. is accumulated and thoroughly dewatered.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1977Date of Patent: December 5, 1978Assignee: Linatex Corporation of AmericaInventor: Robert E. Patent number: 4127478Abstract: A machine for receiving mixed concrete from a ready mix truck provides a receiving hopper and an elevator for lifting the material therefrom arranged to discharge it into a classifying rotating drum incorporating a spiral conveyor into which water is sprayed during use. A sump and a secondary conveyor are positioned beneath the classifying drum so that the separated sands, aggregate and other material, washed and separated from the concrete mix, introduced with the cement and waste water are confined to the sump and a separate settling tank from which the fine sands and similar materials can be salvaged.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 1977Date of Patent: November 28, 1978Assignee: Hy-Way Heat Systems, Inc.Inventor: William F. Patent number: 4126543Abstract: A method and apparatus for use in separating oversize from on size particles in a mass of particulate materials passed rapidly through a screening device includes a sloping screen mesh having sizing openings dimensioned to be larger than the desired maximum on size particles intended to pass through the mesh. The screen mesh is supported at a relatively steep slope angle and the cosine of the angle of the slope multiplied times the mesh opening size is set up to be substantially equal to the desired maximum on size particles to be passed through the screen mesh. A particle rebound shield is spaced closely above the upper surface of the screen mesh for reflecting and directing particles that bounce off the screen mesh back towards the openings therein.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 1977Date of Patent: November 21, 1978Assignee: American Colloid CompanyInventor: Arthur G. Patent number: 4125386Abstract: A rectangular or square metallic frame defines an interior filter medium area. The structural frame member, or members, are channel-shaped in cross section with the channel opening toward the filter medium area. A slot is cut into one of the legs of the channel frame member at the juncture between that leg and the web of the channel, the slot being in general alignment with the interior surface of the channel web. A generally planar handle anchor plate extends through the slot and makes face to face contact with the interior surface of the channel web. A portion of the anchor plate protrudes laterally from the slot and pivotally carries a hand grip. The anchor plate is spot welded to the channel web.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 1977Date of Patent: November 14, 1978Assignee: Air Filter CorporationInventor: Emmett J. Philipp

Patent number: 4124498Abstract: A power driven oscillating sifter oscillated by a motor driven crank arm with the sifter having a pair of end plates and a central baffle all secured to the shaft. A perforated semi-cylindrical sifter panel is detachably secured to the end panels by means of inturned flanges on the end panels. The sifter panel has a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs for agitating the material to be sifted and openings are provided in the baffle and the lower end wall to permit the exit of materials which will not pass through the perforations of the sifter panel.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1977Date of Patent: November 7, 1978Inventor: Robert E. Russell

Patent number: 4122006Abstract: In a rotary screen for sorting wood or other particles of a desired size from other particles such as fine, moist, sticky sawdust particles, a plurality of balls are suspended beneath the screening surfaces in a manner such that the gyratory motion of the rotary screen imparts a resonant, pendulum-type motion to the balls, causing them to strike the bottom of the screening surfaces and loosen particles from the screen which would tend to clog the openings therein. The rotary screen includes a collection tray or "dust pan" to catch undersize particles, and a plurality of balls are also suspended beneath the bottom surface of the dust pan to strike it and prevent material build up in the dust pan.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 1977Date of Patent: October 24, 1978Assignee: Black Clawson, Inc.Inventors: Elmer Christensen, Kenneth M. Cage
