The method includes allocating, by a host computer, a bandwidth of a communication port to a printer that shares the communication port of the host computer with other peripheral devices, generating, by the host computer, a raster page having a file size smaller than a maximum file size, and transferring, by the host computer, the raster page to the printer at the bandwidth to satisfy a print rate of the printer.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a target determining portion to determine process target data, an image processing control portion that stores processed data obtained by image-processing the process target data when the process target data can be stored upon acceptance of an execution operation, a history storing portion that stores history information including processing identification information of the image processing when the process target data cannot be stored, and a page generating portion that generates a page including a command linked to the process target data. The target determining portion determines designated data as the process target data upon acceptance of a data designating operation, and determines processed data as the process target data after the process target data is image-processed. When history information is stored, the page generating portion generates the page further including an image processing command to perform the image processing on the process target data.

Abstract: During the performance of a printing command of an application program of a client being connected to a server, the printer status information is provided to the client so that the client can selectively use a variety of printer features. Additionally, printers are effectively managed and controlled so that a printing system has an improved operation speed. The printing system is controlled at a management server. In the printing system having the server, at least one client, and a plurality of printers, each being connected through a communication line, the server has the printer status information. Accordingly, in the performance of a printing command of the client, the client requests the management server for the transmission of the printer status information, receives the requested information, and indicates the received information through an indicating part according to a predetermined form.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for creating a URL shortcut name corresponding to a web page and printing the web page with the shortcut name. The system includes a printer in operative communication with a processor configured for accessing a network and the at least one web page identifiable by a corresponding URL; a memory storing a shortcut name corresponding to the URL; and at least one application software module having a set of programmable instructions configured for execution by the processor for enabling said printer to print the shortcut name on a web page printout corresponding to the at least one web page. The system further enables providing the shortcut name in an URL address window of a network browser, determining the corresponding URL from the shortcut name, and accessing the at least one web page using the determined URL.

Abstract: An image forming system includes plural server devices, a transmission device, and an image forming device. The transmission device includes a first memory, a selection unit, and a transmission unit. The first memory stores priorities assigned to the server devices. The selection unit selects an available server device having the highest priority. The transmission unit transmits user identification information and associated image data to the selected server device. Each server device includes a storage location for storing the transmitted identification information and image data. The image forming device includes a second memory, an acquisition unit, and an image forming unit. The second memory stores server information. Upon receipt of user identification information, the acquisition unit acquires image data associated with the user identification information from the storage location in the server device identified by the server information.

Abstract: A method for print portable document format (PDF) files with corrupted pages, comprising the steps of rasterizing images of non-corrupt pages but not corrupted pages of a PDF file, printing only non-corrupt pages of the PDF file, gathering and recording file and page information including which pages are non-corrupt pages and which pages are corrupted pages in the PDF file, allowing correction of the corrupted pages of the PDF file for reprint, retrieving saved file and page information for reprint of the PDF file. Based on the file and page information retrieved and print options and merge mode selected, the reprint process proceeds with rasterizing images of the corrected corrupted pages, and printing the corrected corrupted pages while merging with the already-printed non-corrupt pages to produce a complete set of print out of all non-corrupt pages and corrected corrupted pages of the PDF file in a correct sequence according to the file and page information retrieved.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes: a request signal generating unit that generates a predetermined timing signal and transmits a request signal for a specified number of times for requesting line-by-line image data during a time interval at which the timing signal is generated; and a memory control unit that sequentially saves, in a memory unit, line-by-line image data transmitted in response to the request signal and reads line-by-line image data saved in the memory unit to transmit the line-by-line image data to a drive control unit. Upon receiving a predetermined increase request, the request signal generating unit shifts a generation timing of the timing signal so that, during the time interval, the request signal can be transmitted for an increased number of times than the specified number of times, and gradually shortens the timing signal by a predetermined shortening time period.

Abstract: An approach is provided for managing printer driver settings. According to the approach, printer driver settings specified by a user for electronic data are maintained as a “print tag”. Print tags may be stored, either local to a client device or remotely to a client device, and later retrieved when electronic data is to be printed again. This allows printer driver settings to be maintained on a per electronic data, e.g., electronic document, basis and re-used any number of times. It also allows printer driver settings to be persistently maintained when the execution of application programs and print drivers is terminated or in the event of failures. Print tags may be shared among different users to allow multiple users to easily and conveniently use the same printer driver settings to print the same electronic data, without each user having to manually enter the printer driver settings.
