  • Patent number: 10390493
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed that is connectable to a conventional chain saw to extend the operable reach of the chain saw. This apparatus includes a support assembly to provide support against a user's leg or body portion when cutting an elevated item. The apparatus helps to elevate and control a chain saw, while cutting or trimming objects with the chain saw. The apparatus includes operationally secure mounting means to firmly engage the handles of the chain saw, and to maintain the saw in proper operative alignment and position. The apparatus reliably and securely engages a chain saw handle without requiring modification of the original chain saw equipment. The apparatus provides a mounting assembly which does not engage or otherwise adversely contact fragile plastic parts of the chain saw, such as the engine housing. The apparatus provides an assembly for remotely operating a throttle or a trigger of the chain saw.

  • Patent number: 10377049
Abstract: A comb attachment for a hair clipper includes a base having a depression adjacent a back edge of the attachment and a flexible clip extending outwardly from the back edge. The depression locates a user's finger or thumb when pressing the base until the clip flexes around the edge of the blade. The comb attachment is removed by pulling the clip back around the blade. The flexible clip can be a cantilever having two spaced arch-shaped arms extending from the base and secured to each other at their cantilevered ends by a cross-member. The bottom surface of the cross-member can be angled to facilitate release of the clip and removal of the attachment.

  • Patent number: 10369659
Abstract: A hexagonal single crystal wafer is produced from a hexagonal single crystal ingot. The wafer producing method includes a separation start point forming step of setting the focal point of a laser beam having a transmission wavelength to the ingot inside the ingot at a predetermined depth from the upper surface of the ingot. The separation start point forming step includes a first step of forming the separation start point with a first power and a second step of setting the focal point at the modified layer previously formed in the first step and then applying the laser beam to the ingot with a second power higher than the first power at an increased repetition frequency in the condition where the energy per pulse of the laser beam is the same as that in the first step, thereby separating the cracks from the modified layer.

  • Patent number: 10335271
Abstract: Systems, dies, and methods are provided for processing pericardial tissue. The method includes positioning a die-cut assembly over the pericardial tissue, the die-cut assembly including a die having a plate, a the pattern, and an opening, the die pattern attached to the plate, the opening formed in the plate to provide access to the pericardial tissue, and measuring a thickness of the tissue through the opening. The die-cut assembly may be mounted for automated vertical movement, and a platen on which the tissue is placed is capable of automated horizontal movement. Different target areas on the tissue can be assessed by measuring the thickness through the die, and when an area is deemed suitable the die pattern cuts a shape therefrom. The system is useful for cutting uniform thickness heart valve leaflets, and can be automated to speed up the process.

  • Patent number: 10335873
Abstract: An alignment device for a portable motorized miter saw may allow a user to easily reproduce cuts of the same length, even when the miter saw is taken off and replaced back on a portable miter saw stand. The alignment device includes a three piece connector that allows for easy set-up of wings on either side of the saw, which are used to support the material being cut. Because the wings attach directly to the saw itself, the wings stay in exactly the same relationship to the saw blade. Thus, when a stop is attached to the wing, material can be cut to the same size lengths, even though the saw may be taken down one day and set up another day.

  • Patent number: 10315318
Abstract: A cushion back cutter is formed from a first side plate, a second side plate, and a center plate between the first and second side plates. The center plate includes a slot that forms a blade holding pocket with a bottom opening to receive one or more blades. A blade clamp is inserted into the blade clamp opening of the first side plate, and a blade clamp fastener tightens to cause the blade clamp to press the blades against the second side plate to hold the blades in position. The center side plate forms a row guide for guiding the blades of the cutter between adjacent rows of carpet tufts. The row guide may include a region having continuous notches, which tend to move the carpet tufts out of the path of the blades to avoid shearing them.

  • Patent number: 10315320
Abstract: This electric shaver has outer blades, inner blades, an inner-blade joint component, and skin-entry prevention parts. The outer blades have outer-blade holes. The inner blades have main inner-blade walls, multiple blade pieces, inner-blade holes, and internal inner-blade spaces. The inner blades move back and forth relative to the outer blades so as to cut hair that has entered through the outer-blade holes. The main inner-blade walls are connected to the inner-blade joint component. The internal inner-blade spaces are bounded by the main inner-blade walls and the multiple blade pieces. The skin-entry prevention parts are located inside the internal inner-blade spaces, at positions that correspond to the inner-blade holes, and are structured so as to contact skin that has entered the internal inner-blade spaces via the inter-blade holes.
