Abstract: A method for attaching an anchor to an end of a tensile member by inverting the assembly of anchor and tensile member and injecting pressurized potting compound. A length of filaments of the tensile member are placed within a cavity through the anchor. The anchor and filaments are placed in an inverted position, with the distal end of the anchor facing downward and the cable extending upward out of the anchor. If the anchor has an open distal end this is sealed. Liquid potting compound is injected into the anchor cavity and allowed to solidify. During the solidification process, a controlled translation (pulling) of the cable is preferably introduced.

Abstract: A metal composite and a metal joining method that are capable of suppressing an influence on joining strength of a friction stir welded section due to a tool hole formed when a tool is extracted, in the case in which two metals are joined through friction stir welding. In an overlapping section in an axial direction in which a first shaft and a second shaft overlap in the axial direction, an inscribed section in which the first shaft and the second shaft come in contact with each other and an non-inscribed section in which the first shaft and the second shaft do not come in contact with each other are formed. In the non-inscribed section, a plate thickness of the second shaft is decreased. Then, a starting point of a friction stir welded section is formed in the inscribed section, and an endpoint is formed in the non-inscribed section.

Abstract: An adjustable distance sleeve consisting of an outer sleeve, a hollow cylindrical inner sleeve as well as an abutment disc fastened to an axial collar of the outer sleeve. Due to the adaption in shape between the outer sleeve and the component opening, a rotation-proof fastening of the distance sleeve in the component is possible in a simple manner. Thereafter, the length adjustment of the distance sleeve takes place.

Abstract: A pivot bearing for independent wheel suspension of a steerable front wheel of a vehicle having at least one upper bearing with a connection to a spring strut for attachment to the body. To improve the safety of the passenger cell in the event of a frontal collision, the connection has a separating device that brings about separation of the attachment of the pivot bearing to the spring strut and to the body of the vehicle at the upper bearing in the event of a frontal impact.
Abstract: A system of the invention includes at least one barrier layer, a plurality of rockfall attenuators, and two primary anchor points to anchor opposite lateral sides of the barrier layer. The attenuators may be secured to an upper portion of the barrier layer. The attenuators create a gap or separation between the surfaces of the slope upon which the barrier layer is installed. The attenuators may be secured to the barrier mesh by a single cable routed through cable eyes formed on each of the attenuators. Opposite ends of the cable are secured to the sloping surface by the two primary anchor points. The attenuators are free floating members in that they are not attached to the sloping surface. The invention further includes attenuators as a sub-combination and a method of installing the system.
Abstract: The modular, retractable barrier is a room partition. The modular, retractable barrier comprises one or more barrier structures. Each of the one or more barrier structures comprises a plurality of scroll rods and a mesh barrier. The mesh barrier is a scroll like structure. When each of the plurality of scroll rods is separated the mesh barrier is deployed in the space between each of the plurality of scroll rods to form a barricade structure. When the plurality of scroll rods is later brought together, the mesh barrier is retracted. The modular, retractable barrier is a modular structure wherein any first barrier structure selected from the one or more barrier structures can be removably attached to any second barrier structure selected from the one or more barrier structures such that overall span of the barricade formed by the modular, retractable barrier can be increased.
Abstract: A modular privacy fence, which includes a stringer having two rails, wherein at least the first rail comprises a plurality of fence picket dividers that protrude in a perpendicular direction from the first rail. The modular privacy fence also includes a fastener attached to the end of the stringer, wherein the fastener is arranged to secure the stringer to a fence post, and a bottom rail with a trough. In some embodiments, the second rail may also include a separate plurality of fence picket dividers that protrude from the second rail in a direction perpendicular to the second rail and parallel to the first plurality of fence picket dividers. In such arrangements, the first plurality of fence picket dividers is offset from the second plurality of fence picket dividers in a direction parallel to the first rail.
Abstract: A prestressing cable, in particular for static structures, that includes a longitudinal element and connection elements at the end faces of the longitudinal element. The longitudinal element has stranded wires, the end faces of which are anchored into the connection elements. The prestressing cable includes approximately parallel strands, each of which has stranded wires. The wires are spread apart at their end faces in the funnel-shaped opening of the respective connection element and anchored by a casting process, wherein the frustum-shaped funnel widens away from the strands.
Abstract: A pin having a tool engagement portion and a resiliently deformable cover arranged over the tool engagement portion. The resiliently deformable cover is operable to deform from a first position to a second position to allow for the engagement of the tool engagement portion with a tool. The tool engagement portion is substantially concealed when the cover is in the first position, reducing the opportunities for dirt ingress. A tool may be used to deform the cover and allow the tool to engage with the tool engagement portion such that rotation of the tool causes co-rotation of the pin.
Abstract: An enforced one-time snap connection system mounts a first component to a second component. The first component has a circumferentially extending groove formed into an exterior surface. The second component has an annular mounting adapter having an internal bore. An annular retainer is secured on an end of the second component at the internal bore, the annular retainer includes an axially extending annular portion having a radially inwardly projecting annular locking rib received into the circumferentially extending groove during installation of the first component into the second component such that the annular locking rib or locking tabs and/or the circumferentially extending groove are critically damaged or destroyed if the first component is removed from the second component, thereby preventing re-assembly and re-locking of the components together again.

Abstract: A fencing system has at least two engaging elements, two rails extending along respective upper and lower rail axes with a generally hollow rectangular or four-sided cross-section. The rails have a horizontal top wall between first and second vertical rail sidewalls that depend downwardly to define an internal cavity. At least two attachment legs extend inwardly towards each other from the sidewalls. Vertical picket posts extend between through holes in the upper and lower horizontal rails. The picket post includes multiple grooves. The grooves receive the posts without penetration into any internal cavities of the upper and lower rail, and the posts are forced inwardly into the grooves by elastic memory in the sidewalls, the posts within grooves not being in locked engagement with the grooves, but held in place by the force of the elastic memory, the posts withdrawable from the grooves by overcoming the elastic force.
