  • Patent number: 9095368
Abstract: A follicular unit extraction device comprises a handpiece for holding a follicle punch at its distal end which extends from the handpiece and terminates distally in a cutting edge. The punch is releasably coupled to a motor-driven drive shaft within the handpiece for rotation therewith. A portion of the driveshaft is tubular, and houses a piston that can move towards and away from the punch. An ejector pin is also supported within the tubular portion of the driveshaft distally of the ejector piston and is positioned to move towards the cutting edge of the punch when pushed by the piston. The handpiece and driveshaft have respective fluid inlet ports. The clearance between the piston and driveshaft interior, and the clearance between the ejector pin and punch interior, define a fluid path for conducting fluid entering the handpiece and drive shaft via inlet ports so that the fluid exits the punch at its cutting edge.

  • Patent number: 9072601
Abstract: An intraocular lens insertion device having a novel configuration, capable of more accurately arranging front and back surfaces of an intraocular lens in a proper direction. The intraocular lens insertion device is adapted in such a manner that the intraocular lens is set on a stage in a state placed flat with a pair of haptics extended facing front and back sides in a movement direction by a plunger. Also, an interfering acting part is provided to an insertion tube part, and the interfering acting part interferes with the haptic, which is extended facing the front side in the movement direction of the intraocular lens moved by the plunger, to apply on the haptic an external force toward the back side in the movement direction. Thus, the interfering acting part curves and deforms the haptic to a side approaching an optical portion.

  • Patent number: 9072472
Abstract: The invention relates to devices used in the fields of drag delivery or sampling. More particularly, it relates to a disposable assembly which is fitted to an actuator device which causes the skin piercing element to enter the skin to deliver a drug (or other substance) or take a sample. Preferably the assembly is “made safe” after actuation, such that the disposable assembly can't be reused and more preferably still the skin piercing element is safely housed in the assembly such that it does not constitute a “sharps” risk.

  • Patent number: 9066721
Abstract: A gutclamper includes two hard rod-like bodies having flexible belts on one ends, a joint at which the rod-like bodies are joined, and at least one through hole made in one of the belts. The gut tract is clipped by using the two hard rod-like bodies and the joint as a pivot. By clipping the gut tract by side surfaces of the rod-like bodies, it can be clipped while the width of the gut is pressed and widened, so that the gut is prevented from being excessively clamped and torn. In addition, the two rod-like bodies are made different in length from each other, a through hole is made in the belt connected to the shorter rod-like body, and the tip end of the longer rod-like body is fit into the through hole and locked, so that reliable clipping is realized without an excessive burden being placed on an operator.

  • Patent number: 9066747
Abstract: An ultrasonic surgical instrument including an ultrasonically actuated blade or end effector having a treatment portion. The blade can define a central axis and at least one axis which is transverse to the central axis, wherein the transverse axis can lie within a plane which is perpendicular, or normal, to the longitudinal axis and can define a cross-section of the treatment portion. Such a cross-section can include a central portion and a step extending from the central portion, wherein the central portion can comprise a width, and wherein the step can comprise a cutting edge. In at least one embodiment, the cutting edge can be defined by first and second surfaces which define an angle therebetween. In various embodiments, the position of the cutting edge and/or the angle between the cutting edge surfaces can be selected in order to balance the blade with respect to the transverse axis.

  • Patent number: 9060895
Abstract: A stent graft deployment device assembly (10) has a cylindrical fixed handle (6) to be gripped and held by a user and an tubular release handle (30) extending through the fixed handle. The release handle can be moved through the fixed handle. The deployment device assembly has a pusher assembly and a sheath (18) to cover a stent graft on the pusher assembly. The pusher assembly is connected to the fixed handle and the sheath is connected to the release handle so that retraction of the release handle through the fixed handle causes the sheath to be retracted from the stent graft on the pusher assembly. The fixed handle has a rotator component (36) with internal first and second screw threads. The tubular release handle has an external screw thread (31) which engages with the first screw thread. The external screw thread (31) can extend along part, all or in segments along the release handle. A release clamp (48) on the pusher has pins which engage with the second screw thread.
