  • Patent number: 10115026
Abstract: A method for lane detection for a camera-based driver assistance system includes the following steps: image regions in images that are recorded by a camera are identified as detected lane markings if the image regions meet a specified detection criterion. At least two detected lane markings are subjected to a tracking process as lane markings to be tracked. By means of a recursive state estimator, separate progressions are estimated for at least two of the lane markings to be tracked. Furthermore, for each of a plurality of the detected lane markings, a particular offset value is determined, which indicates a transverse offset of the detected lane marking in relation to a reference axis. By means of an additional estimation method, the determined offset values are each associated with one of the separate progressions of the lane markings to be tracked.

  • Patent number: 10089534
Abstract: Various embodiments calculate a score for each frame of a video segment based on various subject-related factors associated with a subject (e.g., face or other object) captured in a frame relative to corresponding factors of the subject in other frames of the video segment. A highest-scoring frame from the video segment can then be extracted based on a comparison of the score of each frame of the video segment with the score of each other frame of the video segment, and the extracted frame can be transcoded as an image for display via a display device. The score calculation, extraction, and transcoding actions are performed automatically and without user intervention, which improves previous approaches that use a primarily manual, tedious, and time consuming approach.

  • Patent number: 10032481
Abstract: Provided is a system for efficiently creating snippets or clips from media assets without re-encoding the entire portion of already encoded media content falling within the snippet boundaries. The system partitions and encodes the original media asset as set of slices with each slice encoding a different temporal chunk of the media asset. The system identifies a first slice that encodes a duration of the media asset spanning the snippet start time, and a second slice that encodes a duration of the media asset spanning the snippet end time. The system produces a snippet start slice from decoding, clipping, and re-encoding the first slice and a snippet end slice from decoding, clipping, and re-encoding the second slice. The system generates the snippet from the snippet start slice, an unmodified subset of the set of slices between the first slice and the second slice, and the snippet end slice.
