  • Patent number: 6795703
Abstract: A handset upgrading system and method which permit cellular customers to upgrade their handset without visiting a local telephone store, providing a totally automated upgrade service, including application, delivery, and functional verification of new handsets. A requesting customer applies online for handset upgrade service and receives an application filing number from the system. Upon delivery of a new handset with an upgrade password, the customer calls up the system to request switching to the new handset, during which an ID code retrieving unit obtains from the network the identification code of the mobile handset that the customer is currently using. The request is verified by an upgrade request validation unit, based on the application filing number, upgrade password, reservation record, and identification code of the handset. If the request is validated, a switchover command unit directs a telephone exchange to change its setup.

  • Patent number: 6763246
Abstract: A portable apparatus including an acoustic signal generation device mainly comprises an input unit (IU) adapted to supply a digital input signal (in). The apparatus further comprises a delay line (DL) adapted to receive N samples of the digital input signal, to store and delay data values associated with the samples. The apparatus also comprises an arithmetic unit (AU) adapted to combine at least two delayed data values received from the delay line in order to them a modified data value, which is again loaded into the delay line and delayed by the value N, the modified data values together also forming an output signal (s), whose frequency content includes the fundamental frequency of the signal to be produced, enriched with harmonics of different intensities. The portable apparatus finally comprises an output unit (OU) adapted to produce a musical sound on the basis of said output signal.

  • Patent number: 6687517
Abstract: A hands-free unit of a system automatically transmits a first paging signal to page a mobile terminal of at least one user of a first category of users and upon receiving a response signal therefrom, connects the hands-free unit to that mobile terminal. If there's no response signal with a first predetermined time period, a second paging signal is transmitted to page at least one of a second category of users and upon receiving a response signal connects the hands-free unit to that mobile terminal. If there's no response signal with a second predetermined time period, the system awaits a signal from one user of third category of users and upon receiving a signal therefrom, connects the hands-free unit to that mobile terminal.
