Abstract: A countertop having a cutout portion, preferably for inserting a kitchen appliance with an overlapping flange, has corners with stress relief radii cut into the wider sides of the countertop to maximize the radii while keeping the cutout hidden under the flange.

Abstract: A portable computer includes a plate mounted to the chassis for pivotal movement between a position covering the connector terminals in the chassis rear wall to a position angularly spaced therefrom wherein the plate extends below the lower surface of the chassis thereby supporting the rear of the chassis in raised relation with respect to the front thereof. Cam surfaces consisting of angularly spaced flats are engageable with cooperating spring-biased followers for retaining the plate in its various angularly spaced positions.

Abstract: Mounting base for the transceiver of a mobile telephone for use in vehicles, the transceiver having a rigid boxlike enclosure. The mounting base (10) comprises a baseboard (12) having a main surface (20) and at least four sides (21, 22, 23, 24), at least three resilient brackets (14, 14', 14") extending from the sides of the baseboard. The brackets (14, 14', 14") have clips (16, 16', 16") at their free ends pointing inwardly over the baseboard. For mounting, the transceiver enclosure (110) is placed against the brackets and the transceiver bottom plate (112) against the baseboard (12) so that the bracket clips tightly snap on the transceiver upper edges. Pins (30) and recesses (40) cooperate with corresponding recesses and supports in the enclosure preventing the transceiver enclosure form moving relative the baseboard. The mounting base (10) is well suited for automatic production.

Abstract: A cable of wire (information bus, power supply, etc.) carrying method and apparatus for modular computer cabinets and the like in which the cabinet frame end walls have notch-like voids. The notches, preferably on the rear side of the cabinets are nearly fully enclosed, save a small opening (to preserve structural integrity) through which the cables may enter. The openings are covered by closure members and decorative trims once the cable is in place. The result is modular computer system without unsightly wires, and in which the modules may be easily and quickly inserted or removed without the need for dismantling the cable attached to the backs of the other modules.

Abstract: An engaging structure for a mountable/dismountable electronic apparatus used in a vehicle, which can facilitate the raise up of a handle, when the apparatus is dismounted from the vehicle, owing to the fact that when an engagement releasing lever is pushed-in to release the engagement of the main body of the apparatus to the vehicle, the handle put in the neighborhood of the main body of the apparatus is pushed-out at the same time towards a user.

Abstract: A drawer interlock for a drawer-and-cabinet assembly wherein a cabinet mounts one or more drawers for sliding movement between a retracted position in the cabinet housing and an extended position at least partially out of the front of the housing. The interlock comprises a latch pivotably mounted to the cabinet back wall proximate to a back wall of the drawer or drawers with the latch having an upstanding catch and a depending catch extending from a central portion in vertical relationship. The latch interfaces with a hook on the drawer or drawers in the cabinet to prevent more than one drawer from opening at one time. The latch is pivotably mounted and biased against the hook in such a way that the latch does not interfere with the movement of any one drawer but will engage a hook when more than one drawer is opened at a time. In a preferred embodiment, each cabinet has one drawer and the latch interfaces with the drawer in the cabinet and with a drawer in an adjacent cabinet, preferably mounted on a wall.

Abstract: An information center including a vertically elongate open front housing having vertically aligned storage compartments therein. The upper portion of the housing, for a major portion of the height thereof, is selectively closed by a closure which in turn incorporates a lower enlarged calendar-receiving pocket, a digital timepiece immediately above the lower pocket, multiple transversely aligned smaller pockets above the digital timepiece, and an upper enlarged analog clock. The lower portion of the housing mounts an adjustable writing desk.

Abstract: A refrigerator has upper and lower compartments each closed by separate doors mounted on the cabinet and separated from each other by a partition. At the front of the partition is a mullion assembly including a mullion cover arranged flush with the front face of the cabinet and behind the mullion cover is a mullion strap having end portions at each end projecting beyond the mullion cover behind the front face of the cabinet where screws clamp the mullion strap ends to the rear of the front face of the cabinet to provide a brace between the two sides of the cabinet and another set of screws secure the mullion cover to the mullion strap adjacent each end. The mullion strap has a flat center section for flexibility during assembly, while each end portion is in the form of a forward opening channel which forms a box construction with the mullion cover.

Abstract: A hinged door panel for refrigerators and freezers includes a rectangular shell having hinge bearing members mounted on each corner. Each hinge bearing defines a generally cylindrical opening proportioned to receive a hinge pin of a hinge mounted on the main cabinet of the refrigerator or freezer. The inner walls of the hinge pins are formed with a plurality of vent openings which allow gases to escape during the foaming of the insulation. The vent passages are sized so that they freely pass the gases and air contained within the cavity during the foaming but prevent insulating material from entering the hinge pin passage.

Abstract: A multiple-shelf storage container disclosed has a pair of opposed shelf-supporting, lightweight inner side panels with each made of a thin, molded plastic, one-piece body and a plurality of lightweight shelves made of a material similar to the side panels and supported by shelf-supporting wall portions of the side panels to slide between retracted and extended positions. The inner side panels are preferably mounted to the inside of side walls of a box-like outer shell. Each shelf has a recessed portion in the shape of the article being supported to enable a stack of the articles to be supported thereon. The shelves move to an extended position for displaying and access to the supported articles such as thin film balloons.

Abstract: A display cabinet includes spaced top and bottom walls, a pair of spaced side walls and four corner elements which are received on the top and bottoms walls and the side walls for securing them in an assembled position wherein they cooperate to define a substantially rectangular structure. The display cabinet also includes an inner cross wall which extends between the side walls and the top and bottom walls for supporting items for display and front and rear walls which are hingeably attached to the side walls so as to function as doors.

Abstract: An adjustable support assembly particularly for use in supporting the bottom shelf in a household refrigerator including a support bracket having a hollow cylindrical sleeve with an interior circumferential surface having a first longitudinal portion with an array of inwardly directed elongated tooth projections along and substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the sleeve and a second longitudinal smooth portion adjacent the first portion. There is a brace having an outside diameter slightly smaller than the inside diameter of the sleeve and has a circumferential outer surface with a first longitudinal portion with an array of outwardly directed elongated tooth projections along and substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the brace and a second longitudinal smooth portion adjacent the first portion, said projections on the first portion being complementary to the tooth projections on the first portion of the interior surface of the sleeve.

Abstract: A dispenser system for dispensing a plurality of twist-ties like closure devices 52 arranged in side-by-side alignment and attached at a second end 61 in sheets 50. The attached second ends 61 are crimped about a rod 51 which is inserted in slots 107 defined in side edges 102 of dispenser 100. A plurality of sheets 50 may selectively be inserted in dispenser 100. The dispenser also includes a cover 103 and a tie alignment block 106. The individual ties have a series of transverse perforations 53, 54 through the wire 55 and proximate the wire 55 to ensure ease of removal and ensure reference of the steel rule die 250 utilized in fabricating the tie 52. Fabrication of the sheets 50 includes taking a stock of uncut twist-tie material 201, advancing it into a cutting station 203 utilizing a steel rule die 250. Advancing the material repeating the cutting step which forms the second end 61 of the advanced sheet and then advancing the cut sheet 50 to a crimping staton 205.

Abstract: A merchandise showcase including transparent side and top windows and illumination means for a display portion of the showcase. A frame for mounting the windows is fabricated from roll-formed stainless steel with very little welding. Frame corner posts are frictionally and adhesively held within a channel in a top frame member by a wedge member inserted into the channel along with a top portion of the corner posts. Side window retention means firmly but flexibly grasp the edge portions of each side window and thereby utilize the windows as structural members to add strength to the showcase. The illumination assembly includes a lighting fixture and a down-feed tube for shielding the electrical feed wires. The tube is joined to the fixture only by the wires extending through both to allow the illumination assembly to be compactly folded for storage or shipping.

Abstract: A refrigeration apparatus accessory storage system is provided for mounting to a refrigeration apparatus shelf. The system includes a storage accessory for storing items to be refrigerated. Means are included for attaching the storage accessory to the shelf comprising a bracket having an adjustable base portion for engagement with the storage accessory and a connector portion for attaching the bracket to the shelf.

Abstract: A cabinet for retractably storing audio/video equipment is provided. The cabinet comprises a main body and a flip-up/slide-in top door adapted to rotate from a horizontal to a vertical position, and thereafter descend vertically within the main body. A support shelf is disposed within the main body and adapted to slideably vertically traverse within the main body as the top door descends. Connecting means are provided for elevating the support shelf when the top door descends within the main body.

Abstract: A lightweight knockdown table and cabinet structure adapted for ease of assembly and disassembly comprised of a plurality of hollow tubular frame members releasably interconnected by a plurality of fasteners and lock assemblies and having a multi-sectioned top which adds rigidity and support to the structure. The fastener and lock assemblies each include a fastening device with multiple end connectors. The fastening devices are slidably insertable into the frame members and have a guide slot bridging into a locking slot. The end connectors are also insertable into the frame members and have a projecting male connector end. The male connector end is insertable into the guide slot and movable into locking engagement within the locking slot to releasably interlock the frame members together at right angles. The multi-sectioned top includes adjacent middle and side sections with support flanges which rest upon opposing frame members.

Abstract: A cantilevered drawer slide arrangement for supporting drawers where the slide hardward is entirely hidden inside the drawer cabinet. A pair of individual tracks are mounted on each side of the cabinet inside the front face. A square bracket having roller wheels fits on each side of the rear of the drawer. The forward wheel is behind the rear third of the drawer. The wheels ride in the tracks on each side and are kept in the cabinet by track stops. An adjustable drawer alignment screw on each side of the drawer between the drawer and the drawer cabinet provides a means to minimize the drawer side movement when the drawer is extended.

Abstract: A cabinet construction defining a back panel, side panels, a front panel, an opening defined by the front panel, and a door hinged to said front panel to close said opening and to permit access to the interior of the cabinet. The cabinet is receivable within a recess defined by a wall supporting the cabinet, and the front panel defines flanges adapted to extend over surfaces on the wall surrounding said recess. The side panels comprise first and second portions, one side panel portion being associated with said back panel and the other side panel portion being associated with said front panel. The side panel portions are telescopically arranged with respect to each other to permit adjustment of the relative positions of the side panel portions whereby the distance between the front and back panels can be varied to change the depth of the cabinet interior. The side panel portions can then be secured in a selected position with respect to each other.

Abstract: A jewelry display device for positioning in either freestanding condition or against a wall comprising an upright enclosure including top and bottom covers and at least two display walls having recessed shelving for supporting items of jewelry in an ornamental display. Steam cleaning apparatus is coupled at an exterior face of one of the display walls to encourage customer involvement and promotions. The device may also be complemented with a jewelry polishing wheel, safe storage compartments and various promotional features such as video display components.
