  • Patent number: 10893288
Abstract: The solution presented herein defines from which previously decoded picture to retrieve the values for calculating POC of the current picture regardless of how many temporal layers have been decoded. That is achieved by determining the POC of the current picture, to be used by the decoder, as a sum of a syntax element pic_order_cnt_lsb and most significant bits of the POC, PicOrderCntMsb, of the current picture, wherein the PicOrderCntMsb of the current picture is derived using at least a prevPicOrderCntMsb and a prevPicOrderCntLsb and the prevPicOrderCntMsb is set equal to the most significant bits of the POC of a previous reference picture in decoding order that has a layer identity equal to zero and prevPicOrderCntLsb is set equal to the value of the least significant bits of the POC of a previous reference picture in decoding order that has a layer identity equal to zero.

  • Patent number: 10812829
Abstract: A coder (e.g., an encoder or decoder) implements coding of two dimensional blocks of image data using two dimensional differential pulse code modulation (2D DPCM). The coder may switch between DPCM and other types of coding, such as transform coding on a block by block basis. The 2D DPCM may obtain a reconstructed pixel within the two dimensional bloc and code a second, different, pixel within the two dimensional block using the reconstructed pixel. The coder may also create a bitstream of entropy encoded residuals that supports hybrid implicit/explicit specification of coding parameters.

  • Patent number: 10805603
Abstract: Various corporate, industry, and regulatory guidelines, best practices and standards are used in establishing acceptable levels of accuracy for volume dimensioning systems used in commerce. A volume dimensioning system can determine at least one distortion value that is indicative of an amount of distortion present in the system and responsive to the amount of distortion, autonomously alter or adjust the units of accuracy of information reported by the system. Such alteration or adjustment of units of accuracy may be performed based on an assessment of the distortion relative to a number of distortion thresholds. Responsive to the assessment, the volume dimensioning system can adjust a unit of accuracy in a representation of volume dimensioning related information.

  • Patent number: 10802261
Abstract: This disclosure is directed to optical microscope calibration devices that can be used with optical microscopes to adjust the microscope imaging parameters so that images of samples can be obtained below the diffraction limit. The microscope calibration devices include at least one calibration target. Each calibration target includes a number of features with dimensions below the diffraction limit of a microscope objective. Separate color component diffraction limited images of one of the calibration targets are obtained for a particular magnification. The color component images can be combined and image processed to obtain a focused and non-distorted image of the calibration target. The parameters used to obtain the focused and non-distorted image of the calibration target can be used to obtain focused and non-distorted images of a sample for the same magnification by using the same parameters.
