  • Patent number: 8025497
Abstract: A method includes steps of extruding rubber or synthetic resin mixed with short fibers from a sectionally annular mold opening, and molding a cylindrical body of rubber or synthetic resin with short fibers oriented in a predetermined direction. The mold opening has an expansion portion 9 whose diameter expands in an extrusion direction, and a flow passage width Wi of an inlet portion 6i of the mold opening, a flow passage width Wo of an outlet portion 6o, and radiuses Ri and Ro of the inlet portion 6i and the outlet portion 6o respectively that are coaxial with the mold opening satisfy a relation of Wo/Wi<Ro/Ri. The value of Ro/Ri is adjusted within a scope of 2?Ro/Ri?8 by changing the radius Ri of the inlet portion according to mechanical properties in the circumferential direction of the cylindrical body to be molded, so that orientation of the short fibers is adjusted.

  • Patent number: 7988439
Abstract: Disclosed is a nozzle block for electrospinning which is able to simultaneously electrically spin two or more different types of polymer spinning dopes, wherein a single-layer distribution plate for dividing a planar space within the nozzle block into two or more segments is installed within the nozzle block. The apparatus is simple because a single-layer distribution plate is installed instead of a conventional multi layer distribution plate. A hybrid nano fiber laminate can be prepared without any additional laminating procedure because two or more different polymer spinning dopes can be simultaneously electrically spun through different nozzles arranged within the same nozzle block. It is possible to prepare a hybrid nano fiber nonwoven fabric or filaments or the like composed of two or more types of nano fibers different in thermal properties or physical properties because their fiber diameter or polymer type are different from each other.

  • Patent number: 7972637
Abstract: A dual-filled gum piece is provided having a first cavity filled with a liquid filling and a second cavity filled with a powder filling. The gum pieces are produced by extruding a gum rope having two separate channels respectively filled with liquid and powder, sizing and shaping the gum rope, cooling the gum rope, cutting the rope into discrete gum pieces, and finally cooling the gum pieces. The gum pieces optionally can be coated with a hard coating. In other aspects for single- and dual-filled gums, a process for making the gum pieces employs a rope sizer that reduces the diameter of the gum rope and shapes it to have a non-round cross-section, and a multi-story cooling tunnel having individually motor-driven conveyors.

  • Patent number: 7959426
Abstract: An apparatus for producing a parison having a plurality of resin layers and at least one resin layer of varying thickness is disclosed. The parison is used to form containers in a blow mold machine. An extruder is in communication with a flow head to form the parison. The apparatus includes a valve block having a duct providing communication between a second extruder and the flow head. Flow of resin from the second extruder directly to the flow head is controlled by a valve in the valve block. An accumulator cylinder and piston are also in communication with the duct and control the resin pressure within the duct. Opening and closing the valve and stroking the piston sends resin from the second extruder to the flow head and forms a resin layer having a varying thickness on the parison. A method of forming a varying layer is also disclosed.
