Abstract: An electronic calculator is very useful for learning manipulation procedure to perform a predetermined process by designating a position on a display screen of the calculator. Manipulation is executed on a touch screen 16a of the display screen with a touch pen. When a function expression is entered to execute a process for displaying a graphic, a position and content of manipulation in each manipulating process are previously recorded in an external recording medium 13 in association with the order of manipulation. Thereafter, the position and content of manipulation are read from the external recording medium 13 every manipulation to display the position of manipulation and a mark indicating the content of the manipulation, thereby instructing manipulation to be executed. When touch manipulation is executed as instructed, a process is performed to enter the function expression and display a graphic, and manipulation to be executed in the following order of manipulation is displayed on the display screen.

  • Patent number: 8436844
Abstract: A control circuit and method for controlling a bi-stable display having bi-stable segments each capable of transitioning between an on state and an off state via application of a voltage are disclosed. The voltage is provided to a display driver from a charge pump, and supplied to individual ones of the bi-stable segments via outputs from the display driver in accordance with display instructions provided by a system controller. Both a bi-stable segment voltage level of at least one of the outputs of the display driver and a charge pump voltage level of the voltage are detected and compared to a valid bi-stable segment voltage level and a valid charge pump voltage level, respectively. A malfunction signal may be provided to the system controller if either of the detected voltage levels is not valid. The control circuit is useful in an electronic device such as, for example, a blood glucose measuring device.

  • Patent number: 8368685
Abstract: In an image display apparatus of the invention, a signal input unit outputs a complex image signal, which has been converted to an easily-processed format, to a signal-for-display generator. The signal-for-display generator converts the complex image signal to a signal suitable for displaying at a display unit. An apparatus state-detector detects a state of the display apparatus. Based on apparatus state information input from the apparatus state-detector, an arithmetic unit calculates an amount of non-uniformity to be corrected, and outputs it to a non-uniformity corrector. Based on the non-uniformity correction amount corresponding to a position displayed at the display unit, the non-uniformity corrector corrects the image signal input from the signal-for-display generator, converts it to a signal format that can be used at the display unit, and outputs it.

  • Patent number: 8345071
Abstract: In a display control circuit of this invention, a write gray scale level determining part outputs write gray scale level data for performing overshoot drive on a liquid crystal display device. Moreover, an achievable gray scale level determining part outputs achievable gray scale level data indicating a gray scale level which achieves after a lapse of one frame. Further, an error noise predicting part compares, with a predetermined threshold value, predicted values as differences between gray scale level values of plural pieces of input image data and a mean gray scale level value of these gray scale level values to control a data selecting part such that when at least one of the predicted values exceeds the threshold value, the data selecting part gives, to an image compressing part, the input image data rather than the achievable gray scale level data predicted that a decoding error becomes large. This configuration allows suppression or elimination of after-image noise.
