  • Patent number: 4813784
Abstract: A reverse flow post-mixer attachment for direct-fixed asphaltic concrete mixers includes a modified discharge box for the downstream end of the drum and an enclosure for the downstream portion of the drum forming a passage along the exterior of the drum. If the smoke point of the liquid asphalt to be added to the material in the drum meets an established standard it is injected into the material upstream of the downstream end of the drum and discharged from the latter end in the normal manner. If the smoke point of the asphalt does not meet the standard, the material exiting the drum is diverted into the passage along the exterior of the drum and the asphalt added there out of the burner stream in the drum. The material and asphalt are then mixed and moved through the passage and finally discharged.

  • Patent number: 4805647
Abstract: According to the invention, structure is provided for interconnecting a timer mechanism and dispensing structure associated with a dishwashing apparatus. The timer mechanism has a cam with an associated follower with a free end that is engageable with a portion of an actuating member. In the operating cycle, motion is transmitted from the follower through the actuating member. In a given cycle, the actuating member and follower move in a prescribed path in one direction and retrace the path in a direction opposite to the one direction. Structure is provided to block the actuating member at its extreme position of travel in the one direction and to progressively adjustably interconnect the follower and actuating member as they are moved relative to each other. By so doing, the cam follower can be moved through its path by a manual control knob and engaged with the actuating member, that is blocked at its extreme position of travel in the one direction.

  • Patent number: 4800934
Abstract: A device for pouring layered drinks comprises a base portion in the form of a tray defining four recesses onto which four separate glasses can be located. A top portion has four cup member recessed in an upper surface. Each cup member has four ribs extending radially outwardly therefrom so the ribs sit on the rim of the glass and hold the cup member projecting into the interior of the glass. A locating projection on one of the ribs cooperates with the side wall of the cup member to confine one portion of the rim of the glass into a required location. The base of the cup member is inclined downwardly toward the location projection and accordingly toward the one portion of the rim. An orifice of a specific size is formed in the base adjacent the location projection to allow the liquid to run from the orifice to the located portion of the rim of the glass to control liquid flow so that it forms a layer on liquid previously poured into the glass.

  • Patent number: 4793033
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for cutting a sculptured pattern in carpet pile. The apparatus has a carpet clipping head carried by a carriage means that can move the clipping head horizontally, vertically and rotationally. Instructions from memory associated with a computer cause the carriage to move the carpet clipper along a predetermined route to cut the sculptured pattern in the carpet. The apparatus also senses the temperature of the clipping head and shuts off the apparatus if overheating occurs. A vacuum mechanism is provided to remove carpet cuttings during operation. The apparatus also dispenses lubricating fluid to the clipper head.

  • Patent number: 4782565
Abstract: An air processing apparatus is disclosed having a feed roll pulling yarn from a source and feeding it to an air entangler at a feed rate. The yarn is entangled by a high pressure air stream in the air entangler, and a delivery roll pulls the yarn from the entangler at a delivery rate. The rolls are driven independently and independent controls are provided to independently vary the feed rate and the delivery rate to achieve a desired overfeed or underfeed of the yarn. A display shows the ratio of the feed rate to the delivery rate. A slub making apparatus feeds yarn to the entangler from a second source of yarn and includes a tensioner for tensioning the yarn as it is fed to the air entangler. An actuator selectively releases tension on the yarn from the second source so that it is rapidly overfed and the air entangler produces a slub in the entangled yarn.

  • Patent number: 4781224
Abstract: A loom is provided with a weft inserting nozzle for picking a weft yarn under the influence of fluid jet and equipped with a weft picking control system which consists of a device for detecting the tension of the picked weft yarn at a timing of termination of travel of the weft yarn in weft picking. The thus detected weft yarn tension is compared with a standard tension by a comparing device forming part of a control circuit thereby to obtain the difference therebetween. The pressure of air to be supplied to the weft inserting nozzle is controlled in accordance with the difference in tension, thus maintaining the weft yarn tension at a constant value.
