Patent number: 5884776Abstract: A dynamic classifier for a coal pulverizer has an improved drive mechanism which is mounted on top of a pulverizer and concentric with the classifier axis of rotation and is directly controllable. The drive mechanism is a variable-speed DC or AC electric motor having a hollow motor shaft. The motor can produce classifier rotor rotational speeds of between 50 and 200 rpm. The classifier rotor is supported from the hollow motor shaft. A coal feed pipe passes through the hollow motor shaft and classifier rotor shaft into the pulverizer.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 1997Date of Patent: March 23, 1999Assignee: The Babcock & Wilcox CompanyInventors: Robert R. Patent number: 5281079Abstract: An automatic, moveable manipulator includes an arm supported on a carriage and holding at least one tool. Both the arm and the carriage can be moved under the control of signals transmitted from a remote location, such as a central controller, which signal is stored in a storage device. The manipulator further supports a reservoir for holding materials that can be used by the tool, for example to apply to the workpieces, such as fluids, fasteners, expendable materials, and the like. An automatic resupply system permits the manipulator to re-fill the reservoir, such as when it is emptied.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1993Date of Patent: January 25, 1994Inventor: Jerome H. Lemelson

Patent number: 5085310Abstract: Sorting unit (1) for belt conveyor plants, of the type comprising a first sorting conveyor belt (7) extending between first transmission rollers (11) and revolvingly oscillating around a first oscillation axis (X-Y), extending in parallel and close to one of its longitudinal edges. A second sorting belt (8) is also provided, which extends between second transmission rollers (12) and is placed aside the first sorting belt at the opposite side to the first oscillation axis, as well as revolvingly oscillating around a second oscillation axis (X'-X') running in parallel and in correspondence of its longitudinal edge placed at the opposite side with respect to the first sorting belt.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 1988Date of Patent: February 4, 1992Assignee: MPA-Meccanizzazione Postale e Automatione S.p.A.Inventors: Mario Scata, Adolfo Passero

Patent number: 5082103Abstract: A light contact feeder for receiving randomly spaced articles, lightly abutting the articles and delivering single articles or paired articles to individual flights of a flighted conveyor. A first feeder conveyor lightly abuts articles from a supply conveyor and delivers the abutted articles to a second feeder conveyor which times the articles relative to the flights of the flighted conveyor. A third feeder conveyor matches article speed to flighted conveyor speed and a fourth feeder conveyor phases individual articles for placement between the flights of the flighted conveyor. The fourth conveyor can also group articles in pairs and phase the pairs for placement between the flights of the flighted conveyor.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1987Date of Patent: January 21, 1992Assignee: FMC CorporationInventors: Jeffrey L. Ross, James W. Krueger

Patent number: 5042633Abstract: A roller bearing device for use with workpiece plate transfer platforms including one or more support rails, each support rail having a longitudinal groove with a longitudinal opening on the upper surface of the support rail. At least one roller support is seated in the longitudinal groove. The roller support includes an angled lever pivotably mounted on a support base. A roller is supported at the end of a first arm of the lever, with at least a portion of the roller positionable above the top surface of the support rail. The end of the second arm is articulated to an adjustment member, actuation of which causes the lever to pivot, raising or lowering the roller.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1990Date of Patent: August 27, 1991Inventor: Erwin Jenkner

Patent number: 4669597Abstract: Increased safety in the area of running clearance between the step (12) and the skirt panel (10) of an escalator is provided by an elongated tubular bladder (24) running the length of the skirt panel, behind the panel just opposite the step. Inward deflection of the skirt panel indicative of an object trapped between the step and the panel increases the air pressure in the bladder. A switch (30) sensitive to the increased bladder pressure controls a relay (32) that shuts off the escalator drive motor (33) and applies the escalator brake (34).Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1985Date of Patent: June 2, 1987Assignee: Otis Elevator CompanyInventors: Hans-Jurgen Langer, Peter Lehmann
