Abstract: Adhesives containing polyvinyl ether copolymers having a weight average molecular weight of >10,000, comprisea) from 0 to 95% by weight of vinyl ethers of the formula IH.sub.2 C.dbd.CH--O--Rb) from 5 to 100% by weight of hydrophilic vinyl ethers of the formula IIH.sub.2 C.dbd.CH--O--R.sup.1andc) from 0 to 30% by weight of further monomers, where R is C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 -alkyl and R.sup.1 is an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic radical which may be substituted by hydroxyl groups or interrupted by nonadjacent groups --Y--, Y is oxygen, sulfur or a group NR.sup.2 or N.sup.+ R.sup.2 R.sup.3 X.sup.-, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 independently of one another are each hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl and X.sup.- is a counter-anion, and the molar ratio of carbon atoms to the sum of groups Y and hydroxyl groups in the aliphatic or cycloaliphatic radical is from 1.01:1 to 6.5:1.
Abstract: A low viscosity, fast-curing binder for textile substrates is produced by admixing an aqueous emulsion copolymer latex with an aqueous solution copolymer formed by the copolymerization of an olefinically unsaturated polycarboxylic acid and an olefinically unsaturated monocarboxylic acid. Viscosities in the range of about 2 cps at 25% total solids to about 1000 cps at 35% total solids are realized by using solution copolymers containing about 40%-75% by weight of polycarboxylic acid.
Abstract: Polymers composed of 5 to 100% by weight of one or more acylals of the formula I ##STR1## and 95 to 0% by weight of one or more unsaturated carboxylic acids of the formula II ##STR2## the symbols R.sup.1, R.sup.2 R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5, R.sup.6, R.sup.7, R.sup.8, R.sup.9 and M having the meanings given in the description. These polymers are suitable as bleach activators in detergent compositions and, at the same time, have a builder action.
Abstract: A novel random copolymer containing, in specific ratios, methyl methacrylate units, aromatic vinyl compound units, methacrylic acid units, hexagonal anhydride units and hexagonal imide units of the formula ##STR1## has been found to have excellent optical properties, mechanical strength, heat distortion resistance, heat decomposition resistance and oil resistance, and have low water absorption. The copolymer can advantageously be employed as a material for parts of light electric apparatus, engineering plastics, lenses, optical fiber cables, and is especially useful as a material for a substrate of optical discs.
Abstract: A curable composition comprising an elastomeric vinylidene fluoride copolymer, a polyhydroxy compound and a vulcanization accelerator, characterized in that said copolymer contains from 2 to 50 mol % of vinylidene fluoride units and unsaturated bonds introduced by reacting an untreated elastomeric vinylidene fluoride copolymer dispersed in an aqueous medium, with an aqueous alkaline solution containing an onium compound.
Abstract: A water-based paint composition comprising:(A) a reaction product prepared by reacting a butadiene-based polymer and/or a drying oil with an .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride followed by reacting with water, a primary monoalcohol or a dialkylamine; and(B) a modified epoxy resin with acrylic acid, methacrylic acid or unsaturated fatty acid, or a modified phenol resin with glycidyl acrylate or methacrylate, components (A) and(B) being dispersed in an aqueous medium containing a base.
